Hi, thanks for sorting the redirector problem out, but I notice the 403 Forbidden message is showing at the top of the page again, which wasn’t there prior to your trying to sort the gallery out. How do we get rid of this?

I responded to your email requesting the full FTP login details, sent you the details and haven’t touched the website. Now it is no longer redirecting but has the Forbidden error back on the front page, which was there following your first login and attempt to fix the gallery. It’s no longer redirecting, so as nobody else but yourself has been working on the website, I can only assume that you repaired that via the FTP?

No worries,we’ll do a complete reinstall of WP and the entire directory, then get back to you re imagepress. :-/

I just told you I did not touch your FTP. I usually don’t try to fix plugins on broken sites.

Great plugin and, from what I’ve read from the users, great support too! I’ve just installed it and it’s newbie friendly so far (a great feature for people like me who are not all that code savvy). How do you add the description to the bottom of the images? Our users need to be able to give a brief description of the photo. I’ve installed JQuery Colorbox as suggested, but don’t see a way to do it there either. Thanks!

Hello. I’m online again, I was away on Sunday. So, right now you can’t add the description to the lightbox or the masonry boxes. I’ll take a look today and add this option on my dev server.

Could you contact me via email (getbutterfly [at] gmail [dot] com) so we can chat in more detail? It’s doable and it’s easy to implement.

Any word on making this happen yet? Thanks!

Hi again

When I use the category filter I get all sorts of layout problems. Image spacing behaves unpredictably with large gaps (see http://bit.ly/1aXreL8)

Each month is set up as a category and then I’m using the following

<h2>October 2013</h2>
[imagepress-show category="october-2013-events" sort="none" author="no"]
<h2>November 2013</h2>
[imagepress-show category="november-2013-events" sort="none" author="no"]
<h2>December 2013</h2>
[imagepress-show category="december-2013-events" sort="none" author="no"]

I want the images to line up 3 columns per row, and then align from left to right on following rows. When I remove the category=”X” filter everything is ok.

What am I doing wrong, or how can I fix this?

Note: use following login credentials to view site user: test pass: malbec

That is actually correct. The middle image is just a bit lower, that’s why the 2 images below get aligned to the left and right. Images (using the Masonry plugin) are looking for free space ABOVE them, not to the sides.

Hmmm… I mean the December 2013 section. There are only 5 images in that category so I would expect 3 images on the top row and then two images in the bottom row with an image in column 1 and column 2, leaving column 3 empty. It’s not a big issue because it still looks tidy, but I was surprised as there are no more images.

I’ll add some more and see how it shapes up, but it’s a huge improvement on before so thanks!

I know exactly what you mean, and this is how Masonry works. Even if the first-row-second-column image is several pixels lower than the other ones, the second row will placd images to its left and right. If there are more images, they will arrange properly. Usually, the plugin works best with different height images.

Please could you check your emails and reply? My website has been down since you logged in to fix the gallery and I don’t know what has happened to it. I have clients waiting for the site to be finished, so it’s pretty urgent!

Hi, is this easy to integrate with this contest plugin http://codecanyon.net/item/mycontest-premium-contest-plugin-for-wordpress/4683159 ? If yes, then That would be neat! Let me know

thanks

I don’t think they are compatible. I don’t really know, never used those plugins.

So with this plugin, its possible to start a full fledged image submission site? And may i ask, what is the dev roadmap for this plugin?

It is, just like you see on my site and on the bottom links (“In the wild”). This plugin is actively developed, bugs are squashed and I am releasing a new update every 2 or 3 months.

Hi, I love this plugin and really want to get it to work, but I’m currently experiencing a few problems. I’m using ‘Striking Theme’ and the Jquery Colorbox plugin, I have the image behaviour setting set to, ‘Open Media Image (recommended)’ but the images on my gallery page look really mucked up like this:

http://modelaford.solutionz-testing.co.nz/member-gallery/

Secondly, the ‘Sort by category’ and ‘Sort by author’ filters aren’t working, even though all of my images have been assigned a category.

I’d really appreciate your help, because I can see by your demo that once the plugin is working as it should, it’s a great gallery with lots of useful features.

Cheers Alison

I think I know what the error is, and it’s related to encoding. Nothing for you to do, I’ll just released a workaround version for the filtering dropdowns. Hopefully this fix will the mucked up images.

Actually, the style for .mtli_attachment{} mucks up everything. I have deleted them using my Chrome inspector and everything looks correct, so why do your images have this class? Feel free to contact me via email so we can fix everything.

thanks for your help, I’ve been working today, will email you now. :-)

OK dude, so you know I love this plugin but I still have just one issue (and also one suggestion).

I mentioned to you before about the lightbox not taking effect on the homepage (on this site http://bit.ly/1ds7Rue ) although it works internally and you said it might be because certain plugins don’t work outside the loop etc. Fair point. However, can you suggest a way I can use the Imagepress shortcodes in the sidebar or other pages and ensure they get lightboxed? Eg. is there anyway I can do something like `[imagepress top rel”lightbox”]` or equivalent so that lightbox plugins activate on it?

The reason I need this is because the Imagepress widgets don’t seem to work for me – the image doesn’t seem to show up so I have to use the shortcode instead.

Now the suggestion:

Is it possible to enable a custom fields builder which lets us add 3 or 4 fields to the upload form which will show up on the image details card below the images in the masonry grid? And possibly hide some fields? E.g. I’m working on a site with a single user so the Author link wouldn’t be necessary. That would be fantastic!

Cheers

What lightbox plugin are you using? Contact me via email and I’ll help you sort out everything! Cheers!

I’d like to upload images to another gallery that is not the wordpress. Could facilitate the function call with the parameters needed?. Is this possible?

Ok. Another question. I have to upload 200 photos. I would like to automate it. What I can do? Thanks in advance

I think it’s possible, let me look into it.

Contact me via email, please, I will build a bulk image import module for ImagePress.

Hi there

There is an issue on image upload

I understand some mobile devices aren’t supported to upload to the web by default. But there is some devices that support uploading just like any pc device such as galaxy s 2 running version 4.1 and it can’t click the choose image link Nothing will happen

There something wrong causing this issue

Any help please ???

I think I know what it is. It’s about the input field customization. I’m working on an update which will be released on Wednesday.

Very good

Can you also add the URL parameters to ( page view ) and search ??

I’m running a photography class and looking for a plugin where my students can upload their weekly photography assignments. Your plugin looks as if it’s the perfect answer!!

Question – I noticed in the comments some folks were asking about lightboxes…. does this plugin use the existing media components of WordPress or are there other plugins I should install along with this one. I don’t mind installing other plugins – just checking before I get started so I don’t get partway through installation and set up and realize I need to go get more “parts”.

The plugin does not have an integrated lightbox due to obvious issues (conflicts with existing themes or plugins). I am using (and recommending) a free WordPress plugin called jQuery Colorbox – http://wordpress.org/plugins/jquery-colorbox/ – which works perfectly with ImagePress.

Also, as a personal opinion, this is he perfect lightbox plugin, never had any problem with it.

Thanks!! I’ve got ImagePress up and running – and my students start testing their uploads tomorrow night.

Question – I’ve got a slider feature on my homepage… will the shortcodes work in the sliders?

Thanks butterflymedia for an AWESOME plugin :)

Still some room for improvement though.

On my wishlist:
  • Upload form reloads with error message if user happens to forget e.g. title. That means all the contents clears, and user will have to type it in again. This is form behaviour we all distaste I believe.
  • Confirmation upon upload is very elusive, and causes users to upload images several times. TIP! To improve it a bit I increased the amount of time the upload confirmation is displayed and its font size. In imagepress.php around line 148 look for $out.= '<p>'.__('Image uploaded!', 'imagepress').'</p>'; and inline style the text to be bigger. And on line 149 look for$out .= '<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;url=' . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] . '">'; and increase the value 3 for upload confirmation to display longer. HOWEVER it would be much better to have a clear checkmark graphic + text OR a colored confirmation notice box or something like that.
  • Upload is not responsive in the sense that it is impossible to upload images from phone/tablet.
  • Some strings not added to .POT file and thus not translatable. Notably ‘Sort by author’ and text in the single-user_images.php’.

As soon as the above is fixed I’ll definitely rate it at 5 stars (4 stars for now)

Keep up da good work.

Thanks E.

You’re welcome! Don’t forget to rate it!

YOU ROCK :D !!! Upload tested on Android 4.1 and iOS 6.14. Works Perfectly. All my issues resolved Rated at 5/5.

TIP TO EVERYONE! Since your users will start uploading their kazillion megapixel images from their smart phones, consider the nifty free plugin ‘Resize Image after Upload’ from the Official Wordpress plugin repository, to automatically have wordpress size down uploaded images on-the-fly for proper display in single view + save some server disk space. Works great for me with Imagepress (another reason for butterflymedia to stay with the standard Wordpress media manager).

Hi, I used the free color box plugin,

On clicking Imagepress Images it takes me directly to my attachment page.. THEN if I click that it shows the color box.

How can I make the color box show first thing when I click the image press Images? Here is an example: http://thevibeisgood.com/about-us/

Thanks

There’s an option in the settings to either point it to the image or the attachment page.

Also, see your HTML view, you added the shortcode inside tags. Delete them.

it’s fixed, thanks!

How do I remove the like and view count? I just want to display my sample artworks

You can’t right now, but I’ll add an option this weekend and update the plugin.

Also, you did not remove the tags, and the font is ugly (monospaced).

I still haven’t had an answer to this.

jQuery lightbox works on the page where I have used the ImagePress show all shortcode (see http://bit.ly/18jUTxa), but Lightbox doesn’t kick in when I use the ImagePress “Top” shortcode for the homepage http://bit.ly/1ds7Rue (the “Members’ most popular image” section in the middle – currently a girl dressed in carnival costume)

Please advise how come that shortcode doesn’t get picked up by the Lightbox and how to fix.

Thanks

I’m sure it depends on the Lightbox you’re using. Some lightboxes don’t pick up images in certain area of your site, such as outside the loop.

Is there anywhere I can find information on what new features/fixes this update addresses?

Thanks

You’re welcome.

I’m interested in this plugin, but I want to know if it is possible to allow only a certain type of users to upload images, ie that only users can upload images SUBSCRIBER AND ADMINISTRATOR type, other types of user. Is it possible?

It is not possible via the plugin directly, but you can combine it with a roles/capabilities plugin in order to achieve your goal.

missing 2 more features and this script is awsome

1- mobile support 2- image url under each thub instead of navigating to the image on a new page ( and option to copy link to clipboard )

willing to pay extra if you can do this 2 features :)

It should be up tomorrow morning. There was an error from Envato. I can’t email it to you as it’s against the policy.

THANKS FOR THE GREATE SUPPORT

ONE QUES ?

HOW DO I CHANGE THE FOLDER WHICH ALL UPLOADED PICS ARE IN ???

I DONT WANT IT TO APPEAR IN WP-CONENT/UPLOAD ETC CAN I FOR EXAMPLE MAKE THE CONTIANED FOLDER

/UPLOAD INSTEAD OF /WP-CONTENT/UPLOAD

IS THIS POSSIBLE ?

It is not possible. The plugin uses WordPress native upload functions.

Hi!

Is there any way I can add a like button in the lightbox? I’m using colorbox. And also, is there a way I can make the vote element act like a Facebook Like button?

Another thing, instead of using a lightbox, what can I do to add links to the photos. So when someone clicks on a photo, he is redirected to a specific link and not the photo’s page.

Here’s the imagepress gallery I’m talking about: http://gourmandelle.com/gourmandelles-tested-recipes

The first thing depends on the lightbox plugin. You will have to find one with this feature.

The second request is not possible. It’s either the direct image link (lightbox) or the photo’s page (attachment).

Feel free to contact me via email, maybe I can help you with your second request.

ImagePress images on my site aren’t opening in a lightbox as in your demo. Does ImagePress have lightbox functionality included or do we need to install our own lightbox plugin?

Back to this Lightbox question.

jQuery lightbox works on the page where I have used ImagePress show all (http://bit.ly/18jUTxa), but Lightbox doesn’t kick in when I use the ImagePress “Top” shortcode for the homepage http://bit.ly/1ds7Rue (the “Members’ most popular image” section in the middle)

Have you got any suggestions on how I can get it to work on the homepage

Hi, can you help with this please? Thanks

Hi, is it possible to add videos in a gallery with pictures? Because if it’s possible, I buy it right away! I await your news.

No, it’s only for images. Videos would require a completely diferrent plugin. The “VideoPress” name is already taken, so I’ll have to find another one. :)

Hi

I use an image resizing plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/imsanity/) on a client’s site to reduce the dimensions and jpeg compression of images as they are uploaded. It drastically reduces the size of images even further than just setting a maximum upload size.

However, it doesn’t seem to get applied to ImagePress uploads. How can we get ImagePress images to work through Imsanity?

Thanks

That’s what I’m trying to do in the next update. So, stay tuned.

Great! Any idea when that will be roughly? Cheers :)

This week.
