I believe there is a discrepancy in the way sales are accounted for in the POS system.
When an item is added in the POS, the system correctly calculates the subtotal and then applies TAX/VAT. However, when a discount is added, the TAX/VAT continues to be calculated based on the original subtotal, rather than on the discounted amount.
From an accounting perspective, the correct approach is to apply the discount first (deducting it from the initial subtotal) and then calculate the VAT on the reduced subtotal.
Is this something that can be fixed? At the moment, all TAX reports appear to be incorrect for invoices that include discounts, due to this miscalculation.
