Hello there,

I have been having a chat with the AI chatbot on your demo site, and I have come across a rather serious issue with the way in which the chatbot’s functionality can be configured. I randomly asked it whether I could get support for my Amazon account, and it responded by trying to assist me, even though it is not trained in this area and should never attempt to do so.

I then went on to ask questions about the safeguards that are in place to prevent such behaviour, and it responded with the following:

“Your concern about the potential risks of the AI agent providing off-topic or inappropriate responses is understandable. According to the available information, BeDesk currently does not offer an explicit blocking or filtering feature to categorically prevent the AI from autonomously drifting into disallowed topics.”

This is rather concerning. If a business were to use such a tool as a customer support contact point for their own customer base, and the bot can at any time go completely off topic and discuss anything if prompted by a customer, this really needs to be addressed. It could seriously impact a business’s image and reputation.

I do think that the chatbot is highly capable and it works very well but if the system doesn’t contain such a prevention method I think it needs addressing with some urgency. I know there are safeguards such as the flow builder, providing clear knowledge i.e training but I think for such a customer facing product it needs a more robust and preventative method of filtering so that the AI can’t just go AWOL so to speak especially if a customer says the wrong thing etc. The AI aspect should always ensure it stays within it’s limits.

The prompt is setup currently so it will only assist if answer can be found in the configured knowledge and/or tools.

I just went back on and typed “Im having a problem with my Facebook account” and it responsed with “I understand you’re having a problem with your Facebook account. Could you please provide more details about the issue you’re facing? This will help me assist you better.” I have a screenshot of this interaction but can’t post the image here.

It will be improved with next update so it does not try to ask clarifications on unrelated topics. It should not try to answer any specific questions on unrelated topic already though.

I want to purchase this, as well as the AI-widget-addon, but could you tell me if it’s possible to host this on my own VPS, configure the AI chatbot, and place the AI chatbot widget on my clients website? So we configure the chatbot in the admin panel for our client, and make the widget with the trained data of my client, visible on the clients website.

Yes, the widget can be added on any domain, it does not have to be the same one where BeDesk is installed.

Great! How would this happen? Is there a snippit somewhere that can be shared? Or do we need to build this ourselves? Also, would this work when the location of the client is an intranet/secured page only available for team members?

You can copy the widget snippet from “admin > settings > livechat > install” page and paste it on any site/page where you want it to appear.

It should work on intranet, as long as user has access to the main BeDesk site.

They are a large company and a great team. They haven’t thought about creating a similar add-on for WhatsApp. The ones available on Codecanyon are not very good.

Hi, my support plan has expired, but there is an issue with the incoming mail configuration. When I click Connect Gmail and refresh the page, it gets disconnected. I have already tried reinstalling the update multiple times.

That error is due to “mbstring” extension being disabled. You should be able to enable it from your cpanel under php settings section.

We have this on the roadmap for a future update, but no ETA for it yet.

Apologies if this is something that is already in this software but I have had a look and can’t seem to find it. Under team members where you can select status after login and you have 3 options. The last option which is based on working hours, you can choose the hours in which the agent is working which makes complete sense. However, there doesn’t appear to be a way of setting breaks for agents on each specific day which would be problematic as every businesses staff will of course have breaks etc.

You can put it into different sites, but there’s no support for multiple AI agents currently. This will be possible with next update though.

The latest changelog indicate a Nov 2025 update, but CodeCanyon says latest update is Dec 4. I’m a bit confused on the difference, will the changelog be updated to reflect the Dec 4 changes, or is this separate?

Changelog page shows the latest changes, the last update date on CodeCanyon is not necessarily for any changes to BeDesk code.

My question is, I’m using your demo, and I still don’t understand why Livechat and Chatbot are separate. When I use the demo, I only see AI Agent, and I still don’t understand the main purpose of the two addons. In the admin panel, I also see the 1-on-1 chat section between members and customers, but only AI responds to customers.

AI addon is not required for livechat to work, human agents can respond to customer’s that start a chat via the widget.

Chats between AI and customers will not be visible to agents by default. If customers asks to be transferred to human, then agents can reply (no limit on how many agents can reply to the same chat).
