The license file mentioned in the related article is only usefull if you encounter this invalid license code error in the installation process. If you have encountered this error after installing the site, and you are sure that the purchase code and license code in the .env file is correct, there might be a server related issue. Please contact your server provider and make sure that getenv() function is working on your server. This function is used to read the data in the .env file and it is a default PHP function that must work on every server. If this function does not work, you can see such errors because the script cannot read the .env file.
If there are no problems with the getenv() function as well, you can contact us through our Help Center and send us your login information for us to take a look and try to solve this issue. There are no problems with the licenses themselves.

There is a section in the php.ini configuration.
This directive defines which superglobal arrays will be registered when PHP is started. G,P,C,E and S are abbreviations for the following corresponding superglobal arrays: GET, POST, COOKIE, ENV and SERVER. There is a performance cost to registering these arrays, and since ENV is not used as often as the others, it is not recommended for use on production servers. You can still access environment variables via getenv() if needed.
What should be included I put this value variables_order = “EGPCS”, but it didn’t work!

However, if you use your own server for your website, it will be better to ask this question to a server specialist. As this question is mostly related to server related (server issues are not included in the item support) a server specialist can answer this question easier. However, in order to use the script, this function must be active on your server. We can only tell you this much on this topic.
Yes thanks, I figured out the problem the site is working, I enabled the putenv function in php.ini, I’m just now learning how dangerous it is to use the putenv function. Because the previous time I didn’t understand how the attacker was able to hack the server.
In fact, you need to enable the putenv function only during the installation. Our script does not use the putenv function after the installation. It just uses the getenv function after the installation. So if you have an oppurtunity to disable the putenv and enable only the getenv, this should work too. However, if you have only one option to enable or disable these two functions, then you have to enable this option. Also, getenv function is enabled in default on almost all shared hostings.
I don’t use shared hosting, I have my own VPS server. I have disabled putenv and the site goes into error that the license is invalid, this indicates that getenv is not enabled and not working, I am looking for information on how to enable it to then disable putenv.

Hi! Thanks for the awesome script. I’m running into a problem though: images aren’t displaying properly on my website. Instead of images, I’m just seeing blank spaces. The images are being downloaded and saved correctly in the “public_html/uploads/images/202404/” directory through RSS. However, I can’t seem to make them appear in the RSS blog posts. There are 20 images that should match up with 20 blog posts, but no images are showing.
Exif is installed, GD and file info.

Yes, you can give the ’’Add Post’’ permission to the ’’User’’ role and with this permission, newly registered users can add posts. There are also some settings related to this permission like email verification, approve added user posts and approve updated user posts settings. You can manage these settings according to your wishes.
We do not have any external resources. We sell only the script and all the features are included in the script. You can view all the available features through the demo site. If you want to make some changes on the script, our code is open source and you can collaborate with a developer to edit the code. However, please keep in mind that, such custom edits are not included in item support and we cannot assist you in this custom editing process.

For a better performance, you can use our magazine or news theme. Since these are new themes, they are better in terms of coding quality and have better results for speed rates or LCP. However, when there are many sections with images in the script, such small effects can normally be seen for LCP and other scores, especially on mobile. If you want to reduce such effects to zero, you can edit the codes and disable these fields on mobile, but we do not have a customization service and cannot assist with such requests. But you don’t need to see this as a problem. If you also check the major news sites, you will see worse results on many of them. So such small issues are normal when there are dynamic images on a website.

Hello, thank you for the praise. There is a ’’Contact Messages’’ setting in the ’’Email Settings’’ section of the admin panel. Once you select ’’Yes’’ for this setting and enter your email address, contact messages will be sent to your email. However, there is no option to receive email notifications when a new comment is made or a new post is added. You can follow these from the ’’Pending Comments’’ and ’’Pending Posts’’ sections of the admin panel. Thanks.

I have chosen to show three subcategories on the homepage under Festivals (All 2024, 2023, and 2022), which works, but if one looks in the rendered code, one can see 13 more subcategories that are rendered. That, to me, is a bug since none of those can or should be shown on the homepage. This means that the function is taking everything and outputting it, which is just generating slowness and confusion.

I would like to have this issue resolved as soon as possible since rendering a lot of excess code that is not human readable as well as NOT render in the browser as clickable items, is not a good practise.

The only categories with Yes are those mentioned before; the rest have No, yet if you look at the source code, you see all categories rendered anyway. This means that the PHP’s underlying classes and/or functions are outputting everything, and nothing stops it.
There should be a limit related to the number of showable subcategories, not all of them.
You are seeing these links because the system shows these links on the mobile view. This means that there is a bug here. It should not display these links on the mobile view also. We will fix this issue in the next update. Thanks for reporting this issue.

I’m using the v2.2.1 (magazine theme) and I did a fresh local install of v2.2.1 as well and its exactly the same issue there as on the live website. So the problem really does exist.
The problem is here: _category_block_type_4.php and in _block_subcategories.php
As detailed with this screenshot showing what is rendered, eventhough only 4 subcategories are supposed to be shown it renders all of them:

Selecting “No” for the “Show on Menu” for categories will not hide them on the homepage. The categories will be hidden on the menu only. If you also select “No” for the “Show on Homepage” option for the parent category of these subcategories, you will not see these categories on your homepage.
Also, we do not see hidden subcategories on the mobile menu when we make tests with our latest version (tested on different devices). So there is no problem here.
I’m really not sure if you have tested this properly since if you look at the generated code, it will render all categories, even those selected as “NO” in the “Show on Homepage” as clearly shown on the image ( https://static.sorbire.com/Screenshot-2024-04-07-184926.png ) which means the code is outputting all categories regardless if “NO” has been selected which is a BUG and also goes to show that the “Show on Homepage” = “NO” is NOT adhered to at all.
The result of this bug is that the page’s weight is greater, and every search engine sees it but can’t follow the link since the link does not exist in the homepage menu as a viable subcategory that can be utilized.
Furthermore, the Mobile Nav contains a limiter, which is NOT used in the “_category_block_type_4.php” or in “_block_subcategories.php.”
That limiter is this “if ($sub->item_visibility 1)" which can bee seen below: <?php endif; foreach ($subLinks as $sub): if ($sub->item_visibility 1):?>So, can this be fixed?

When we hide a category in our demo, this category does not appear in the mobile menu or in the source codes. However, it appears on your own site. We couldn’t understand the reason for this. Please update your site completely after we upload the next update soon. If you see this problem again, you can send us your cPanel credentials so we can check again on your website. We do not see any problems in our demo right now. We think that your site will also be fixed after the next update.

I think this image below show it more clearly that there is a problem with the script as it is not following the boundries set, at all. Not only are we dumping more DOM in the users browser we are also adding unnessasary weight to the page by outputting all the categories which have been set to NOT show anywhere, yet here they are:

The rest of them 2021 to 2007 are all having the above set to 0.

If you edit a subcategory in the Admin panel, you will see that there is no “Show on Homepage” option for subcategories. Only parent categories have this option. So to hide all subcategories on the homepage, you need to edit the “Festivals” (ID: 4) category and select “No” for the “Show on Homepage” option. After this, you will not see them on your homepage or in your source codes.

But that is exactly the problem, if I select to show the parent category as well as 3 subcategories (2024,2023,2022), then the code should NOT render all subcategories, which it does (see image https://static.sorbire.com/Screenshot-2024-04-09-092808.png) do find that it by default rendering not only the link, but also all the content under each subcategory which in turn means that there is a lot of DOM created that are NOT used or can be accessed, if you tell via . Meaning that the script has a bug or a flaw you might want to say.
Since in my case, I want to show only 3 subcategories on the homepage as well as the parent (in the menu on top of the site) and the rest should not be rendered (which they clearly are) as well as not selectable (this can be controlled via _block_subcategories.php) but it doesn’t stop the rendering of all the content for each subcategory anyway, which means, to me atleast, that the script has a flaw or bug.
Since now its basically all or nothing.
Even if when you set visability this ( https://static.sorbire.com/Screenshot-2024-04-10-114817.png ) it will still render all subcategory content and their respective links on the home page in Classic, Magazine as well as News.
That means that there is no checks or limits invoked when it comes to subcategories at all, its everything out all the time on the homepage. The only thing that sort of works is the Main Menu but still output the “ALL” link in Desktop and Mobile view.
What is needed is a limit and the option to show and what not to show on the homepage for subcategories.
What I’ve been trying to convey is that the script only limits links to content, but not the content itself when it comes to how subcategories work, which is causing a problem, especially since this is one feature (the whole subcategory thing) that I wanted revised to add more checks and limits so its content can be controlled more. Because today there is no real control to speak off when you have 17 subcategories and you only want to show 3 of them on the homepage and the rest should not be rendered or linked to at all. What you end up with is every single subcategory rendered and linked to anyway and there is nothing stopping it, unless some heavy editing of the script is in order, which only will limited future upgradesm not an option.
Instead I would ask that there are limits, checks and control of non-visible content related to subcategories on the homepage and that the user/admin can set what is shown and not shown instead of getting everything, like it it is now.
Unfortunately, there is no option to hide a single subcategory on the homepage. If you want to hide these subcategories completely, you need to edit the “Festivals” category and select “No” for the “Show on Homepage” option. This is the only option if you want to hide them in the source codes.
Honestly, that is just bad that you are not being able to choose what you want to show and not show with finer detail then OFF or ON.
I really like the script, but there are some improvements would really set it off, one being the ability to a finer degree control what has been mentioned in this 14 reply thread. But, also the option to add fields to articles, hence expanding them, by for instance, since we already are speaking about festivals and events, to have the option to add extra fields for example start date, end date, ticket price etc etc. and yes I know that there isn’t a Events article type, but extra fields in general would enable all buyers of the script more freedom and flexability to enhance their users experience and interaction with each page.
I have mentioned this before, I know, but I think it would be more beneficial than some other requests made, that are, in fairness, just hype and trends that blow over as fast as they came about. But, the expandability with extra fields that can optionally be added to each article type, would benefit more or less everyone.
No system is perfect. Since we sell our script to thousands of different people, each customer may want different things. You may want a feature, but another customer wants something else. When this is the case, the number of requests is very high and we do not have the opportunity to fulfill all of them. Although this is the case, we have improved the script a lot after working on it for years.
About this issue, there is no option to hide a single subcategory. To hide subcategories of a parent category completely, you need to hide the parent category. But this is not a bug. It is not right to say it is a bug about options that do not exist.
In order to avoid such problems and to show all the features of our script, we have prepared a demo and our customers can check it whenever they want. For this reason, instead of later saying that this feature is missing, please review the demo first. If you think a feature is missing or the existing features are unnecessary for you, do not buy that script. As we said, since there are too many requests, we cannot fulfill all of them. We can only work on important features that are most requested. Also, our codes are open source. You can always change the codes and add the features you want. You are completely free for this.

For the next update, we added the option to hide subcategories as well. Please update your site when we upload the next update and hide your categories from the Admin panel.

Hello, I’ve read that you want to add a feature for culinary recipes to Varient, which will significantly change this script and shift it towards existing, dedicated scripts. Please, make sure that this new option is configurable so that, for example, it can be easily transformed into codes for games or something more useful, as Varient is more of a news script rather than a culinary recipe one, and few people will likely use this solution.
Hello, you don’t need to worry about this. If you look at the Admin panel, there is an enable/disable option for all post types. So if you don’t want this post type (recipe), you can just disable it. This will not affect your website. It is just an extra feature.
Hi, sorry if this has been asked already. I have a news domain that I want people to be able to pay to post their article on. So they pay me $20 so they can add their post to my website, which runs for 7 days, then expires and not shown, the link works and shows content but is not on the main pages, but they can pay another $20 to re-run the article for 7 days. Hello, thanks! Glad to hear this. Our demo does not use a powerful server. It uses a simple shared hosting. If you want to buy a hosting plan, you can choose a hosting that has LiteSpeed cache (you can choose any hosting provider). These hostings are generally faster. Since our script does not use too much resources, you will not see a performance problem. Once you have many users in the future, you can easily move your site to a bigger hosting plan or a VPS server. Thanks.

I am encountering an issue with the bulk post import functionality. Despite having created five admin accounts for the purpose of assigning posts to different authors, all imported posts are being attributed to a single author by default. This is not the desired outcome, as each post should be associated with its respective author.
Additionally, I am looking to ensure that each post displays the correct creation and updated timestamps, which seem to be absent from the bulk upload template provided. There is no field or description in the bulk upload section that specifies where to input these timestamps.

Yes, PWA is currently disabled on our demo site. You can see this setting from the ’’Preferences’’ section of the admin panel.
There are user, author, moderator roles on the Varient script. You can choose the trusted users and assign them the author role. You can also disable the ’’Approve Added User Posts’’ and ’’Approve Updated User Posts’’ options to allow these trusted authors to directly add posts and edit them.
You can manually enable the reward system only for your trusted authors.
Unfortunately, the other mentioned features are not part of the Varient script and we do not accept custom edit requests. Our code is open source and you can collaborate with a developer to make some changes on the script. However, please keep in mind that, such custom edits are not included in item support and we cannot assist you in this custom editing process.

There is a slider on the text editor on mobile that can be slid towards the right. By sliding this slider, you can see some other editor features as well.
We are aware that some features are not available on mobile. However, this is not a bug. The text editor automatically hides some of the features on mobile. We will try to activate them in the next update.

However, if the version of your site is even older you cannot find the related update file when you download the script files and we cannot help with this either. We generally support updating from a version released within the last 2 years. That’s why we recommend that you update your site at least once a year.
