Hi, I’m interested in your plugin but I’d like to understand if it works with the location of who is browsing your site, who has obviously given permission, in order to return a weather report relating to the user’s position. I see tons of negative bug and stability comments, I really hope these bugs are fixed or fixable

Yes, you can set it to display the weather of the visitor, but for this you will need an API key from ipstack: https://ipstack.com/ for geolocation. There are no bugs in the current version, the issues reported are mostly related to APIs. To use the plugin you need an API key and also some platforms block API connections. All the best.

Please check if there are any errors in page and if your shortcode structure is correct. If you are using location auto, you will also need an ipStack API key. The issue could be caused by your ipStack API, if you have run out of API requests. You can try testing with a new API, if the weather is displayed fine. All the best.

i want use the shortcode in widget. But it seems that the shortcode list in documenation is outdated. Dont find a way to get the style with location and big display of temperature. I cant use your widget because i need text above and you use widgettitle to overwrite location name…

The documentation is up to date, all the shortcode parameters can be found in the dedicated documentation chapter. There are a few options you can use to change the shortcode display, but the boxed style can be added only through widget. All the best.

Greetings. I’ve been using Simple Weather for a few days and I appreciate its compatibility with WordPress themes and standards. I prefer the use of the widget which offers a more pleasant result. However, it surprises me that in its use the opportunity to define its width was not foreseen. Basic use only takes up part of the sidebar for me. I solved it by inserting additional CSS for the element only but it would be much more linear and effective to insert the option in the widget itself. Are there currently other solutions to adjust width to column?

Yes, the widget will inherit these settings from the section where it is placed, it does not have width settings. Using a line of CSS is the best solution, in case the widget does not stretch by default, which it should do in most cases. In such cases, we can help clients with a line of CSS from support. As mentioned in another comment. The JS libraries in the latest release are still vulnerable. This extension should be removed until they are updated.
I updated the extensions manually and the plugin still works as expected. It took all of 10 minutes to find the latest moment.js and vue.js files.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. Directory traversal is possible with older versions of moment. Older versions of vue allow XSS attacks. Google insights warns about both of these.
The versions used in Simple Weather are both vulnerable:

We are not using moment locale with language file, we are using a PHP object with all translated strings.
As for the second vulnerability, affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS) when spread attributes in the ssr files are unsanitized and can therefore be attack vectors for untrusted user input. We are not using spread operator and neither ssr, just client side.
We do appreciate your insight and we agree the libraries should be updated, as we do intend with the next plugin update. But using the current version of Simple Weather should be safe, as it is not affected by these vulnerabilities. We will try to update as soon as possible nonetheless.

If I use the free OpenWeather API, can I get 7 day forecast? On their webpage it says I can only get daily forecasts if I pay. Otherwise I only get today or hourly. How do I get daily weather for free?

Yes, you can get 7 days forecast display. Just add your latitude and longitude coordinates in the shortcode or widget and use the parameter or option for number of days and it will work fine. All the best.

Since the weather display is added through shortcode, you would need a way to automatically pull the info in the location parameter of the shortcode. Most likely a custom integration is necessary. All the best.
Initially, using the shortcode: [simple-weather location=”auto” night=”yes”] initially displays the message “invalid date” when it finally loads shows “Sunday 48 °F Saturday 53 °40 °F” when it loads. It’s Saturday right now, so I don’t know why it shows the current weather for Sunday first instead of Saturday.
Now after trying it again it just says “invalid date” and doesn’t load anymore. Also, for some reason the widget stopped working and doesn’t show up anymore.

Please make sure you are running the current version of the plugin and the timezone is set correctly. We did correct, with a recent version, a similar issue which appeared after our weather info provider made API changes. So, most likely you need to update the plugin.
