Hello. How do I set permissions to deny visitors access who get the link to a file I’ve uploaded? I have permissions that prevent them from viewing, but if someone shares the link, visitors can access the file.
Hi,
You can enable secure file paths in the filemanager settings page, this will secure the file urls and they wont be sharable. Although it will disable image preview feature.
I’ve enabled secure file paths and it works. Thank you! Is there a way to redirect users to a login page?

You can use loginpress plugin or there are other plugins that can help you make a login page and put redirection on pages.
Is there a function/htaccess I can modify or change to make the files redirect to my login page?
deny from all
This will block everyone from direct accessing the folder or the files inside of it.
Make sure you dont block the uploads folder of wordpress, that should be publicly available.
But I want to redirect them to a login page. You’re right, this blocks anyone from accessing the files via a URL. However, when I send newsletters I want to place a hyperlink for users to click on….and they should be directed to my sites login page. After they login I want the file to download. Is that possible? Thank you for the assistance.
Yes, for redirections like this you can install a redirection plugin, like loginpress. When a user will click on the link to that page, they can either see a login form or redirected to wp-login page. Loginpress can do both.
The plugins you mentioned are not allowing me to redirect the link from a file it creates when I enable secure paths (https://www.testingtr.com/?red_fm_connect=true&front=user&fid=0&defaults=0&access_all=1&cmd=file&target=l1_U2Vjb25kLmRvY3g)
Secure path does redirects folders properly (https://www.testingtr.com/chapter-documents/#elf_l1_MjAxOQ) to my ultimate member login page.
Wait, you’re trying to redirect from the file paths, that wont work. The file path has a file header so new redirection headers wont work. You can use the folder paths, or the path of the page where you have added the filemanager for redirection. If that works for you.
Hello, I have just noticed your update on Image Editor. Really that was fast! Anyways, why am I not able to update the plugin or why I wasn’t informed in my WP back end? Is something that I must do manually? Please, I need your advice, Leyteris
Hi,
You can just download the new update and replace the old one. You wont get notifications in your dashboard.
https://prnt.sc/ow8j4m
Please, I would be grateful for any help. Furthermore with other plugins like Rankie and Rev SLider I get email notifications when an update for one of these plugins is released.
Why I wasn’t notified for File manager too?
Thank you for your time,
Leyteris
Hello, I hate to bug but there’s no update at least on my side. Please, let me know when the problem fixes. Kindest regards, Leyteris
Hi,
Can you email me the backend access, I’ll see whats going on. The screenshot you sent looks blank.
One more thing, the image editor take a few more seconds after the filemanager is loaded to initialize. Wait a couple more second and then right click the file and find “image editor” option. “Image Editor” will be visible after the editor is loaded in the background.
Great! I own you a five star review… The sad thing is that the FEATURE I was eager most, was to preview the quality of image IN REAL TIME, before I save any changes. Indeed the tool that you integrated with FM works flawlessly. And is very handy too! But when someone like me has done the mistake to upload too many photos that exceed the size of 250kb, then the FM maybe is not for him. Because, I told you, I really care for quality and the plugin doesn’t allow me to preview any changes before I save the image. What I care most is a way to compress the image (which YOU DO have that function) but can see its final output somehow, Anyway, life is life and you can not have everything the way you want to! Your file manager is one of the lightest, prettiest plugins ever. I will rate it with a 5-star review because it really deserves it but please, if you could do something in the future to preview any changes in every image I edit ( I am talking about the quality function) I would be obligated. Wishing the best, Leyteris.
Thanks for the nice review, I’ll keep your suggestions in minds for the future updates.
Hey, I have a problem with the Google docs viewer. I am using the file manager for our intranet, which means that the files can not be accessed from extern. The google docs viewer, however, takes the URL to the file, which it can’t obviously can’t access. Is it possible to proxy the file through the user’s internet or at least disable the file preview for specific types?

Hello, I purchased the plugin and I have 2 questions. 1. I read in your comments section that the best practice seems to be to have your files root folder inside of Wordpress folders (e.g. Uploads). I currently have my files located in a separate DATA folder outside of WP because I didn’t want my user to accidentally be given access to WordPress folders. I have the following structure and everything seems to be working correctly (preview, download,etc.). Is there something I should be concerned about? \public_html\DATA \public_html\wp-includes \public_html\wp-admin \public_html\wp-content
2. My sub folder structure looks like the following, \Data\subfolder1\subfolder-x \Data\subfolder2 Each of those subfolders contains other subfolders. I want to give my users access to specific folders (e.g. folder-x) and everything below that. I use the [filemanager foldername=”*“] shortcode and I assigned folder permissions using the User Access tab in FIle Manager admin backend (e.g. User1 folder=data/subfolder1/subfolder-x Access=read). If I rename subfolder1, the user access disappears in the front-end. Is there a way to rename the folder without having to re-do the user’s access? Can I rename the path directly in the File manager database tables? Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi,
1. The shared folders need to be inside wordpress, otherwise it wont be able to find file url since url dont work outside of wordpress root folder.
2. If you assign a folder to a user, you can rename the folders or files inside that folder, but you cant rename that folder itself, if you do, then you’re going to have to assign that folder again.
Hi,
For Q1 – My public_html is the root folder for WP, so there should be no issue then. Correct? For Q2 – I have already configured over 200 users, now my client want sot change the name. Is there another way to redo the user permissions other than one by one? Can I script it and replace the folder name in the file_manager table using phpmyadmin? Or will doing this cause other problems?
2. You can find the filemanager’s table in the database and change the folder names there, it would be alot faster. Here is the screenshot of what it would look like:

You can change the folder names either by query or manually.
Hello, I am really impressed with your plugin. It is workings seamlessly with WP back end. Yet, I am disappointed with the image editing feature. Despite the fact that the plugin decreases the quality of images the preview window is too small, to preview the real changes. So, when I am saving changes to images they are in very low quality and I have to reupload them. Please, consider to add a lightbox where in a pop up, we can have the chance to see the image scaled in full size. That way, we can understand the image quality better. You see, I own a travel agency site and the image quality is an important factor for me. Secondly, many WP like have a dozen of thumbs in their install. Many of them have no name. The thumb size is too small to figure out which image is been displayed. Again smth like a lightbox when we hover the mouse cursor upon an image would be most helpful for all! Please, at least in a future release add a lightbox where we can preview the images in full size. I would be most grateful. Otherwise, this plugin is useless to me. I really hope in your help, Leyteris, Greece
Hi,
I actually am working on a better image editor for the filemanager, more people are asking for it, I’ll update soon.
Thanks for the support.
Hello, Excellent plugin – just what I was looking for! But please I have a feature request. I want to be able when in list view, to SORT THE IMAGES BY SIZE. You see I have a dozen of images and many of them are way too big. And basically I bought this plugin so I can start decreasing the size of these images. By using image editor (yea!) Anyway, the plugin is exactly what I was looking for. Please consider adding this feature in a future release of the plugin. Best regards, Leyteris
It has the option to arrange by size, you can just click the size header in column view and it will sort (ascending and descending), here is a screenshot:

Hello, Great file manager, though I tend to use it with a different way… There’s not even A SINGLE IMAGE EDITOR in the entire Envato Market. I want to use the plugin for image editing purposes so, I would be grateful if you could answer me some questions, that I have: First, does the plugin support .png images? Secondly, can I edit thumbnails too? Best regards, Eddie
Hi,
Yes, it supports all major image formats like png, jpg etc.
It will edit any type of image, thumbnails or full sized. The images have their own hidden thumbnails which can be made visible if you want to edit those.
Hello, I just purchased your plugin and have it all working. I have created custom roles to represent user’s access (e.g. Folder ABC-readonly and Folder ABC-readwrite.). A user will need access to multiple folders hence different roles. I have many users to configure so I don’t want to configure the individual users and prefer the group/role method. I noticed in other comments that you do not yet support multiple groups/roles for a user. As the comment was a while ago, I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or the functionality is missing. If it’s still missing , any idea if it will be added soon? Any ideas welcome. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hi,
Yes, it only supports one role for a user. I’ll try add multiple user roles support soon as I am currently working on the next the update.
Hello, You have the most professional file manager of all! One question: is there a way to test the image editor “live”?
You demo site doesnt allow file editing, you can scroll down to see a screenshot of the image editor here:
http://www.bloopes.com/products/filemanager/#elf_l1_Lw
You’ll get the idea.
One last question: Is there an undo function if the quality is too low when editing an image?
You can choose not to save the file, it wont auto-save so if you change your mind you can cancel editing.
Hi There, I just bought and the label on the seach input shows me cmdSearchPh how can I remove that?
Make sure you have this line translated in the language you are using, if not, you can add this line, here is the screenshot of the line:
https://i.imgur.com/OZwMFWt.png
You can see the file path at the top of the image.
Hi There, I have that line on my language file and I tried to change the lanaguage too changing that line in other languages to see if it makes a different and anything happened.
You still see the cmdSearchPh string instead of “Search”? Email me the backend access, I’ll manually replace the text.
Thanks mate its all good now! one more question how long do you think the Dropbox third party plugin will be release?
Dropbox plugin is mostly working on my end, I am working on user permissions right now. I’ll try to finish soon.
Sweet this is great to know is there any way that we can have a report on number of time a file is been downloaded? or send an email to the admin when I file is been downloaded? if there is a plugin for this will be happy to pay for it
I can make something like that, you can email me through my profile here and we can talk.
Thanks mate I sent you an email
Got it, replied.
Hi getredhawkstudio, can you contact me via my profile page about a bug – don’t want to disclose it in the comments. Thanks.
Hi,
I sent you an email, you can reply to it.
After updating this plugin to latest version i get an error when trying to preview files: {error \”elFinderVolume\” does not exist”]}
Will this be fixed?
Hi,
It shouldnt give you this error, can you email me the backend access. I’ll fix it.
Also make sure “Secure Paths” is not enabled in the settings page of the filemanager, secure paths wont let you preview files, the filenames are encrypted.
Seems like switching “Secure Paths” off fixed it! Thank you, and thanks for quick reply! No other fix needed is there?
Nope, that’s it.
Awesome. Thanks. Good to know this plugin has solid support

Hello, I installed the plugin and created my folders and users. Everything is OK except sending mail. No email notification is sent when I add a document. Users who are allowed to read the file do not receive email. Neither does the admin. Is there an adjustment to be made? Thank you in advance
Just make sure you enable the upload notifications in the settings page of the filemanager, screenshot:
https://i.imgur.com/f2knAjq.png
Thank you for your reply. I had of course activate the feature. But that does not change anything.
Can you email me the backend access, I’ll check it out. Also make sure the emails are not going into spam.
Hi Where can I download the addons? For Zoho and default folder.
COlin.
You can download the addons here:
http://www.bloopes.com/products/filemanager/addons-2/
The addons are free, but you need to have the filemanager installed to make them work.
Make sure to read the installation guide for zoho office editor.
I want to be able to see all the file on the root folder. I am very disappointed with the product so far. I am using for the first time and I thought it would work like “WP File Manager plugin”
I didn’t bought this product because I want it to share files with other users, I want it to use for admin purposes and browse all the files on the domain.
Can I use it that way? How I can start at the root directory?
Hi,
Yes, you can do that very easily, you just need to go to the users page under the filemanager, find your username and assign the root folder to yourself. The root folder will have this symbol ”/”.
Let me know if you want my help.
Thank you so much for your fast response. It worked like charm!
Great
I’m having trouble uploading multiple PDF files.. about 90. The upload seems to timeout after 10 files are uploaded
This is probably because of max_file_uploads limit in your php.ini, you can increase this limit in your server using this guide:
https://www.codexworld.com/how-to/increase-files-upload-limit-in-php/
Another solution is to upload a zip of these files and extract the uploaded zip in the filemanager.
Hello guys! I have a problem while i am trying to preview the plugin. A page opens which is like those with multiple ads listed. Is something wrong? I am interested to buy the plugin but this doesn’t seem professional. Thank you in advance
Hi,
I have updated the demo preview, it should be fine now. The old url was down. Thanks for letting me know.
Hi I move website with plugin from dev server to production and after that thumbnails do not generate. you know what may be the reason? or how to diagnose a problem?
Hi,
Thumbnails should work fine, email me the backend access, its probably some small issue.
Presales question for an “advance file manager” for wordpress. Is it possible to set default preview file on double click instead open/download?
Yes, there is an option in the settings page to either use preview or download on double click.
Pre Sales Question:
Can this plugin: 1) Allow for a non-logged in user to upload a file 2) For this file to be automatically accessible
Hi,
Yes, you can give upload access to non-logged-in users, you can generate a shortcode with read/upload permission on any folder and paste it in a page. This will allow users to upload files to that folder.
The files are immediately accessible to all other users on this page too.
