Does this plugin have the same functionality as the newsomatic plugin? What is the biggest difference between this plugin and the newsomatic plugin besides using the Webhose API?

This main difference in this plugin vs Newsomatic, besides that it uses WebHose, is that this plugin is also able to get keywords from Google Trends go make the searches for articles. So, you can import ‘trending’ articles, if you configure it to also use Google Trends when searching for articles.

Thanks for the plugin. I setup wverything and entered a few words/sentences in 3 for google trends, but the plugin imported 10 posts for the first row and then unable to import any further. I clicked on run rule now but not importing. It shows a yellow box and then…:S

I checked and the issue you are having seems to be caused by the PHP version on your website. Right now, it is PHP 5.4, and the plugin (after the 1.5.0 update), requires at least PHP 7.0.
Please update the PHP version which your site is running to PHP 7.
If you don’t know how to update PHP, please contact your hosting’s support and they will help you.

I checked the issue on your website and you have wp_cron disabled by the rules set on your wp-config.php.
Please edit your wp-config.php file and change this line:
define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, true);
To this:
define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, false);
This will allow the plugin to automatically run.
If you don’t know how to do this, please contact your hosting’s support, they will help you with this.
Regarding the featured images, you should also contact your hosting’s support, and ask them to allow access from your server to external images, because, it seems that they are blocking this right now for you (this is why you don’t get images for posts). Please ask them to remove any firewall rules that is blocking image importing for you.

I checked, and the plugin is not creating more posts, because you have only 1 importing rule set up and all posts that this rule can generate, were already posted on your blog.
Please create more importing rules in the plugin settings, with multiple keywords in them. In this way, the plugin will import more content.

I checked your website and here is the result:
I made a recent major update for the Trendomatic plugin, and it can do many more things now.
But, also, it requires at least PHP 7.0 to run correctly. On your server, you have PHP 5.5.38 right now.
Please update the PHP version which your site is running to PHP 7.
If you don’t know how to update PHP, please contact your hosting’s support and they will help you with this.
Please let me know if you managed to make this change and if the plugin works afterwords.

After upgrading to PHP 7 stop working sites. Probably not everything can work on PHP 7.
Please try to deactivate some of your plugins and then try to upgrade to PHP 7 again. You should try to identify which plugin is not compatible with PHP 7 and deactivate it or replace it with a newer one.
PHP 7 brings a great performance increase for your website, also, my plugin supports only PHP 7 and up – and unfortunately this cannot be changed, because the code I used in the recent update I made is only PHP 7 compatible.
Please try to identify the plugin that is not PHP 7 compatible.

hi , just purchased it , and no matter what i am doing it does not work. did the tutorial exactly the same , even with the same words and setting the right api key from webhose and right setting in equal to what you showed, i get nothing but the yellow diamond. tried it on your demo and got some results now nothing , any advice ?

I checked your WordPress install. Posts were not importing for you, because you set, in the plugin’s ‘Main Settings’ -> ‘Minimum Title Word Count’ to 300 words.
This meant that posts were not imported (skipped) if they did not have 300 words in their title -> all posts were skipped -> yellow mark (no posts imported).
I deleted this value from the plugin’s settings and now importing works, please check your blog.

I purchased the plugin but I’m experiencing some challenge with the query string in the plugin. For example, if I use: thread.title:bananas site_type:news in the plugin and then the same query in the webhose query builder, I get two very different results! Below is the string I used on my last attempt, one of many that failed. Can you please point me in the right direction as to the proper way to write this? I am not a coder, pulling experience from a very layman perspective.

I have experimented with the query string you sent me and the fist one that generated posts for me was:
pickle ball language:english domain_rank:<1000 spam_score:<=0.8 social.facebook.likes:>10
Note that you don’t need to separate expressions in the query string by commas. If you do, you will get an error. This is probably my fault, because I used commas in plugin’s description of this, to list possible values for this field. So, instead of commas, please use spaces to separate expressions.
The above string generated a post named ‘25 Awesome Main Dishes for a Crowd-Pleasing BBQ — Recipes from The Kitchn’ – which I don’t think is the article you are looking for, because it is not from category:health.
Another query that generated posts for me is:
pickle ball language:english spam_score:<=0.8 social.facebook.likes:>10 site_category:health
It made post named: ‘How to Grow Dandelion Greens’.
These articles don’t contain the specific string: pickle ball, only similar words to it. If you wish to search articles with these exact 2 words, you need to use ”. Like this:
"pickle ball"
So, if you search for something simple, like:
"pickle ball" (language:english)
You will get many posts. But I don’t know that these are the ones you are looking for. Let me know, please.

1) The plugin ca get keywords from Google Trends (depending on the settings you specify for it – ex: timeframe (last 7, 30, 90, 365 days), google trends category, language, country, custom keywords) – depending on these parameters, you will automatically get a keyword. That keyword is send as a query string to WebHose, for content search.
2) 1 request means 1 API query (automatic or manual) – in one single query, you can import a maximum of 100 posts.
3) Yes, as explained at point 1)
4) Yes, the plugin can find and replace keywords, or even add a link to them.

Multiple api key usage is against WebHose user policy. They won’t be happy if I add this.
Yrs, you can import posts every 4 hours, using 1 request (the number of posts depends of your query and the number of posts that already exist posted).
Also, you can configure the plugin to generate post categories.
Everytime it scans, it gets a new keyword it uses (usually trends change at a weekely basis).
This plugin gets only the content that WebHose is providing (it does not crawl linked websites).

Well, the random sentence generator and the text spinner are 2 different features. The spinner work automatically, you only need to enable it. The random sentence generator has description in the documentation.

I’m trying hard to create post in the combination of query of webhose and google trend, but no post appear.
The query on webhose return 234 post so…Can you please see if I have anything wrong?

OK, after testing, I have several issues:
1/ The content, it does not have the paragraph, all text is long and stuck together.
2/ It might include the alt text of image, or icons, or links…etc (share to facebook, google..etc)
3/ Some time, the query do not include trending, the first time it runs, it shows keyword trump, OK, then no keyword in the next run??
4/ The time of publish post all the same, it would be good to have the option select the publish date either same with original time (or sooner 1-2-3 day), or randomly from 1-2-3 days in the future (this one is important)
Some more but the main thing is content might have weird stuff.
Can you please make an update for that?

Updated the plugin to v1.4. Changelog:
1) Added the option to automatically format resulting text from WebHose (plugin’s ‘Main Settings’ -> ‘Automatically Format Text Adding Paragraphs’ checkbox)
2) Removed some of the excess strings I found in the content, returned by WebHose (social, sharing strings, etc). This still might not be perfect, if you see other strings, please report and I remove them.
3) Please be sure to check ‘Do Not Continue Importing Posts If Google Trends Fails’ in plugin’s ‘Main Settings’ and no posts will be imported if Google Trends does not manage to get a keyword. Also, no API request will be consumed.
4) To import post date from the original article, please be sure to check ‘Get Post Publish Date From Feed’ in the rule’s advanced settings.
