hi. i want to delete files quickly, for example, when I import theme’s demo, it import many files to wordpress upload folder, so I want to delete them manually because they are garbage to me. So i have two options: delete them by FTP (that it is very slow) or enter to my hosting’s cPanel and us the File manager, which is faster but it takes several time and steps to access cpanel. I’d like to have something inside wordpress in order to go, select the folder and delete all files I want. So, my questions are: 1) can I use this plugin for this porpoise? 2) does run as fast as cPanel’s File Manager or it will be same speed as FTP? please let me know, thanks.

The filemanager can be used to do that. Its faster than ftp and may be the same speed as cpanel’s filemanager.

I see the section where the admin gets one when a file is uploaded and a user can get one from the admin when the admin uploads to their default. thanks! KathyHi,
The way it works is when a user uploads a file to their default folder, an email is sent to the admin. The same way when admin uploads a file to anyone’s default folder, an email is sent to that user.
In the coming version, I am looking to add the feature where a shared folder email is sent to all the users of that folder when a file is uploaded by anyone. This feature was requested by multiple users.

Just tested and created a new user and that works fine. I now think that it could be that the client just has an issue with one user. Could it be that is a user is deleted and recreated that might cause an issue? My own admin user can not see the main folder though I have deleted and reapplied my own permissions, but that fails.

Yes that may be the user was deleted and that caused that issue. Or may be the admin changed the folders assigned to that user.
So what would be the best way to fix this? Just create a new folder and re-apply their permissions on this folder?
To assign folders to each user, you can use the default folder feature of the filemanager, you can enable it in the settings page.

we’re trying to implement your great file explorer into a customers page. It’s working smooth in firefox, however in chrome we get this errors in the console log:
elfinder debug: error Kann ”#” nicht öffnen
Ordner nicht gefunden.
elfinder.min.js:10 elfinder debug: error Ungültige Parameter für Befehl: “parents”.
Translated this would mean: Could not open ”#”, cannot find directory Invalid parameters for command: “parents”
So can you advice what chrome is doing different than firefox and how to solve this problem?

./tmb folder is for saving thumbnails of the images, it shows you the thumbnails in the icons when you view images in a folder.

Hello, I am very interested in the plugin but before buying it I would like to expose my situation so as not to fail to buy it:
We have a directory with more than 100 folders that represent users. Each of these folders has many files and subfolders inside (approximately 80,000 files)
The idea is to upload all those files to our ftp server where the web is located and from the plugin, create and assign users to their corresponding folders so that when a specific user enters our website with their username and password, they can see the content from your linked folder.
Is it possible to do this with your plugin?

Yes it is possible, infact each user in the site has already a folder assigned to them with thier own username inside the uploads folder, so you wont even have to make folders to them and assign them each. However if you want to assign them folder somewhere else then you can assign them folders individually.

Hi,
You can assign folders to user roles with read write access. The users in that user roles will be able to access the folder and upload / edit files and folders. I dont know what you mean by “groups” but if you mean folders then it is possible.
Emailing the files is not possible from the plugin.

Actually, I want the users to create their own files, for example, if user X register with us, automatically he will have a folder named X. Now only He(user X) and Admin will be able to upload files to that folder. This will be same for all users. Is it possible?
Yes, this is in-built feature of the filemanager, all the users get their own folders and admin have access to it.
I was wondering if there is a button (or a right click option) that can copy the url of the file? I know I can get the url of the file if I right click and Get Info, but I need a quicker way to access the URL
That doesn’t satisfy my requirement, I need to be able to copy the url so that I can add that URL to an email or a document
You can either copy the link from get info, or you can just open the file and copy the link from the browser window. There is no way faster than these.

Do thumbnails display for most file types, such as PDFs, Office docs, Adobe file types, etc. or only for image files?

Its only going to be images. You can open pdf and office files through google docs feature, but there is no thumbnails for those.
I want to allow folder access to both admins and editors. If I include shortcodes for both, I get an error. Is there a way to do this?
You cant add shortcodes for both, but you can assign admins and editors the same folders in the User Groups page and use the shortcode:
[filemanager foldername="*"]
I get it now, I thought the asterisk represented the folder name, but no, you actually use the asterisk!
No asterisk is used when you want all the assigned folders to show up for the current user. If you only want a certain folder, you need to generate a shortcode in the Front-end Access page.
