Hi, Can you tell me what your filter plugin looks at within my website to capture the chosen options? Does the filter request the information be exact to search on backend? We’re working on a wheel bolt pattern scenario, you put the year, make model and only the wheels with correct bolt pattern should pull up. We also do suspension lifts and need only the parts to show within the filter. What are we doing wrong?
Example: 2015 Honda Accord should reflect all wheels that have 5×114.3 pattern with high offset.

For frontend search, It uses the backend assigned retaions of Makes/Models/Years/Engines per product from product edit screen or assigned through CSV Imported Tool. There is no way to change the default sort order of VPF terms. There are few plugins available to sort custom taxonomies but in case if you have too many VPF Terms then it wouldn’t be easy to manually set order of each term one by one.

Found an issue: Server side tech – tell them it’s breaking the theme editor and creating long-running processes for no clear reason which are ultimately resulting in 502 errors. That plugin looks old and not updated in a while. The readme file says: “Tested up to: 4.7.x” 11:23 am 4.7.x is from years ago. WP is up to 4.9.x now. We went one by one plugin wise and this was the culprit. Great plugin!!!! we love it but maybe need to update it.

Ok I think it will work fine as it is actually. Another question: I believe I saw somewhere that the filter can be set to maintain the search criteria when returning to the search page from a product page. How do I do that?
For this you have to enable “Remember Search” option form plugin’s settings panel. Therefor, it will maintain user search whole over the website and will show only filtered products for all pages/categories/shop. Does it make sense?

1. I think you are trying to upload main zip file. Please extract it first and then find another zip file from extracted directory. Try setting up this one.

You can assign VPF terms to products easily through CSV file. Just add one more column on fifth position with label item_product just after item_engine which contains comma separated product SKU’s. That way VPF imported auto assigns whole row to item_product SKU’s.
Note: Please make sure that item_product column is always on fifth position. In case you don’t have engines for fourth column item_engine, just add a header there item_engine and leave its value blank for all the rows.
If you have already imported CSV file, you can add the column item_product in same CSV file and import it again. It will not duplicate already imported terms again. Please try it for 2-3 rows first and if everything looks correct, then go ahead with full CSV file.

I don’t think if CSV file doesn’t support Arabic language. It would be little time consuming if I change current script to support excel file. Can you please tell me which CSV reader do you use?

I assume that there you mean from CSV format and not from CSS format. If no way to add Arabic words in CSV then I have to do some custom work so it supports excel file. There it will cost you additional USD’s for this work.

Hi, Love this plugin, its looking and working exactly as I want, apart from on the product page the VPF terms section has MAKE MODEL YEAR ENGINE, I am not using the ENIGNE section at all, but it wants something putting there or it does not let me continue. Please can you help?
Also not put anything on my Excel import for engine size. I sell bike parts so the engine size is covered in Bike Make, model and year.

There is no compulsion to have engines in csv file but still make sure you use an empty column for item_engine in 4th position in case you are adding product SKU’s in fifth column. If you look into plugin documentation you will see that item_product column should always be on 5th position.

I am using a custom taxonomy for Makes/Models/Years/Engines so you just need to check how WooCommerce API works with taxonomies and follow same for my plugin too.
For new fiels, you can change label from Year to Model Variant through plugin’s settings panel. You can leave Engines column empty with header item_engine on fourth position if you are importing data through CSV file. That way it will have only Makes, Models and Variants. Make sure that item_product column always remains on fifth position in CSV file.

Please download a sample CSV file from plugin’s import screen and you can see correct format for levels. It should include Year From and Year To in single column in this format: 2001-2004 so here you see the correct format for cells:
Make, Model, Years, Engines, SKU’s
In case if you don’t have Engines for fourth column then you can leave it empty with a header item_engine but make sure item_product is always on fifth column.

1. There is an option in plugin’s settings panel which allows to show either individual year per row or year ranges in single row. That way both the ways are possible to show years.
2. You can change the labels of these termms from amdin but still I would recommend to change it from coding manually. I can help you for this but it will cost you few additional USD’s for this.
3. There is an option to make product universal so not for a particular model but for all Makes/Models/Years/Engines by single click.

I am not sure if I understood you correctly but as per I understand you want to hide empty terms from dropdowns. Sorry but currently it doesn’t hide empty terms but I am planning to add an option for this in near future. Thanks!

Currently no plan to add images to vehicles as it wouldn’t be that easy. Regarding no stock for goods, not sure yet if single solution will work for both of your previous questions or I have to work differently for these two. I can tell better only once I start work on it. Thanks!

No, but it follows all WP standards so just creating a pot file and placing it inside plugin’s language directory will do the trick wthout requiring much efforts. If ou know how to create apot file then that’s good. Otherwise let me know and I will create one for you. Thanks!

Is there a way to add another dropdown for Subcategories after the Main category is chosen? If not, is there a way to set it so when the Main category is chosen that instead of displaying all of the products it can display the Subcategories within that chosen category? If I have one category that has several subcategories (Maintenance (main) >> Spark Plugs (sub) / Filters (sub) / Fluids (sub) / etc (sub) to be displayed?

Regarding sub categories, currently it doesn’t provide any option to have different dropdown for sub categories and also no way to show sub categories on next page. For this it would require some custom work which will cost you few additional USD’s.

Have purchased your VPF plugin to use on our heavy equipment parts site. Is there a way to eliminate some of the fields that are not needed such as Engine and Year? We only need 3-4 fields.

To eliminate years and engines, you can hide them from widget/shortcode settings easily. For import tool, these columns still be there in CSV file but you can leave their value’s empty for all rows. Pleas try this whole for 3-4 rows CSV first and once it works, only then go for complete CSV file.
