I also am looking for something like this but it must have import functionality especially for transactions and chart of accounts. I happen to be an accountant and would be willing to help provide suggestions for what we think would be helpful….

Yes source code is included.. it is open source software you can modify according to your needs and if you need any customisation we can do it for you… we are working hard to make it perfect error free and rich of functionality accounting software… your suggestions are warmly welcomed. ..
Import by CSV it would be better for current finance situation or bulk action

Some pre purchase questions. 1. Can it handle VAT? 2. Can it report me the VAT input and output for a selected Period and the VAT to be paid for the specific period? 3. Are you planning to launch a SAAS version?
This is a Journal/Ledger Accounting System with standard reports. If you have an open VAT account and make transactions in that account than YES you can take VAT report for specific period. Moreover if any customization is needed we can serve you according to your needs. Still we have no plan to launch SAAS version.
