Hi, pre-sales questions:
1. We want to list rental properties in the sidebar and then have a filter category of “Rooms”. Some properties can be rented as, say, a 1-bedroom, a 2-bedroom, or a 3-bedroom. Can a property be tagged as 1, 2, 3 bedroom so it shows up when someone selects any of those numbers?
2. We also want to display our favorite restaurants, bars, etc. on the map. Can the exists as pins even if they’re not in the sidebar?
Hello! You can natively use any pre-existing taxonomy and any pre-existing post type with this plugin, so if you already have real estate properties with their categories, in the manual you’ll see how to use them to obtain what you nees. You can craft the map results as well very accurately.
2) The plugin creates a custom type “places” which you can use for any type of venues. Restaurants are a classic example of what the plugin was made for, or you can use other plugins to add post types and QT places will find your new post types.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, we’ve hit another snag. This is from our dev:
We have a little situation with the plugin on this site ( https://agavevillas2.wpengine.com/map-search/ ). As you can see there is a filter on the top of the map and it’s working great, but 1 category is missing (see image attached), how come it’s missing? This is the shortcode used for that map: [qtplaces mapid=”” template=”3” open=”0” limit=”-1” mapheight=”500” mapheightmobile=”500” autozoom=”1” streetview=”1” getdirections=”Open in Google Maps” mapcolor=”normal” listimages=”1” showfilters=”1” posttype=”property” taxonomy=”category” terms=”” debug=”0” mousewheel=”1” buttoncolor=”#FFFFFF” buttonbackground=”#7ca15c” listbackground=”#7ca15c” markercolor=”#7ca15c”]
One more question, is it possible to sort those filters alphabetically?

Hi guys, any followup on this?
It only shows category you have posts inside. Means it’s empty. There are no alphabetical filters unless you don’t add as categories for example A-E, F-L, M-R and so on
Hi there, When you say that the plugin is compatible with Buddypress, does-it mean that it is possible to geolocate members ??? Thanks
Hello, the plugin allows to associate geolocation capabilities to every custom post type, even created by other plugins, so I think there are no problems. If you test the plugin and doesn’t work we can provide a refund, no problem, or also adapt it to work with buddypress as is a cool idea
Hi, quick question – can you display the category filter buttons on mobile? When I squeeze my browser to view the demos on mobile view, it looks like the filters disappear.
hi! They don’t fit there is no enough space in mobile, sorry!
Hola, tengo problemas:
1. The button: Geocode this Address does not work.
2. Enter Latitude and Longitude and does not work. Sitio: -12.049834189396936, -77.02886939048767
3. By posting you show me this error message:
QT Places Error: the selected post type doesn’t exists or is not active in the plugin settings.
Nota: I have active plugin.
They have a tutorial video
Hello! For the geocode, google maps made a recent update. We have new plugin ready and will publish it today (you’ll get an email from envato)
For lat-long: 1) be sure to write it like that 37.983917,23.729359899999963 No spaces. 3. I don’t understand in which occasion you are seeing this error, but go in Settings->Qt Places and be sure to activate your desired post types in the list.
Thanks!
Hi! The plugin has just been updated, you will get an email from Codecanyon within few minutes. Thank!
I have not received any email, still does not work
Hi! Very sorry we sent the update to codecanyon but looks like nobody from Envato published it. We just resubmitted the update, you should receive email notification in couple of hours. It’s the new version 1.0.6 with backend map api upgrade.
Gracias por toda la ayuda Ya esta activo el mapa: http://www.datatrust.pe
Hello there. I have a pre-purchase question regarding your plugin. Within the “places” post-type, is there a way to add html, or is it restricted to the custom fields information? Essentially, I need the ability to add ahref links within the “place” that will link out to other URLs on the website. I see in your demo that you have what appear to “website”, “phone”, “email”, and “directions” fields. Again, wondering if there can be multiple URLs entered in that popup, so that linking to several other pages is possible. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hello! 1) you can add Maps functionality to any existing post type, also normal pages and posts. Means that you can select the post types you wish to create maps from, in the plugin’s settings page. Done that, when you edit a post of your preferred post type, like also normal pages, the coordinate fields and extra options will appear in the edit page.
Then you add the post-type parameter to the shortcode and you can also filter the map results by your preferred taxonomy (including any custom taxonomy not only categories and tags).
OR you can simply use the native Places post type and add a custom link to any page you want, but the title of the marker will link still to the Place page.
2) For the multiple URL actually that’s not supported, but is more for a space reason: while opening the popup of the map in mobile, there isn’t space for more infos than that.
Hello! Can I remove the title link in the info box?
Hello, if you don’t put any URL it will be removed. If you mean the link to the post, actually there’s no option for that. But I’m not sure what you mean.
Is possible to cluster (group) markers?
You can use the taxonomy filters, please check the manual in the details page, is very well explained there
thanks!
hey,
this looks very helpful + unique for the time being!
2 quick questions:
1 – is there a way (button) to zoom back to initial map state (after as user started zooming-in/-out … and getting lost :))
2 – can I change/customize the fonts + colors used in text?
thx! oliver
ps: ... any plans to allow for custom styles in maps (or something like SnazzyMaps) in some future?
Hello! Actually there is no zoom back button, i’m sorry. There is a shortcode option which you can use to add the default google maps zoom buttons.
About font and colors, it takes the theme’s default values, so it integrates with your design natively.
thank you!
- sounds good about the fonts.
- as to your remark on zooming: can you explain a little, as I do not fully understand? you say: “There is a shortcode option which you can use to add the default google maps zoom buttons.” – does that mean there is a shortcode attribute of your plugin? (because I couldn´t find any in the documentation)
or are you referring to an external shortcode? if so, which
... anything that would help me to have a ‘zoom back to initial view’ would make me happy, of course. and I guess I will buy your plugin in any way ;) ... but it would help to understand this :)
On the left of the map there are the default Google Maps zoom buttons. But you can also disable the auto zoon when clicking a location. Most of the documentation is available online in the demo site:
http://qantumthemes.com/demo/qtplaces/how-to-display-a-map/qt-places Stylesheet is missing. ? help
You are trying to upload it as theme from what you have in the error. You have to go to Plugins->Add New->Upload
Hello, Does this plugin support user submitted maps from a front end interface or geolocation. I am wishing to use this plugin for a social type site where users can post their current location or interesting tourist locations they have found while exploring areas. The idea would be to have set categories and name the location.
Hello! To achieve this function you need a plugin like this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/Hi,
i’m not able to get the categories to display for filtering.. even for just regular QT Places taxonomy.
please advise.
Thanks, Ryan.
hi, please try putting first just the [qtplaces] shortcode and then add only the parameters you need to the shortcode. It’s just a matter of some setting which can be hiding them. If you still have problems, please let me know. Thanks!
can the info box contain social media links? Does it have a search functionality?
Hello! There is no such function, I’m sorry!
Does the map support ACF google map fields and custom posts
Hello, I don’t know what this plugin is, sorry! Anyway you can add any custom post type to the maps generated with this plugin, and it automatically finds the coordinates from the address, so if you have an archive of pre-existing posts of any type, like portfolio, or any other (even created by other plugins or themes) you can go in the QT Maps settings page and enable your preferred post type. The map fields will be added to it and yoou can easily create custom maps for any post type. You can also filter the results for any custom taxonomy. Hope my answer satisfies your question, thanks!
Hi, are there any known issues with the latest WP (4.5.2)?
Hello! Sorry for the late reply but during the weekend we are closed. The plugin works perfectly with latest WP version and in case of any issue just tell us and we provide immediate updates. thanks!
hi, Which google maps api should I choose? Google Maps Android API Google Maps SDK for iOS Google Maps JavaScript API Google Places API for Android Google Places API for iOS Google Maps Roads API Google Static Maps API Google Street View Image API Google Maps Embed API Google Places API Web Service Google Maps Geocoding API Google Maps Directions API Google Maps Distance Matrix API Google Maps Geolocation API Google Maps Elevation API Google Maps Time Zone API
Hello, what you can choose is Google Maps JavaScript API , but this parameter is totally optional and only needed if your map page makes more than 20’000 visitors a day, so basically you can leave the option empty in normal circumstances.
hi there. nice looking plugin, even more featured than i was looking for. i recently tried another map plugin only to learn that i couldn’t set a marker to more than one category filter – this is a deal breaker for my needs, so i thought i would ask to confirm before purchasing this time: if i had three categories created in the taxonomy – say Amusements, Hotels, and Restaurants – can some markers have only one category, such as Hotels, but other markers be in all three? thx in advance.
Hello! This plugin allows you to add a many categories as you want, and choose which ones you want to display on each map. For example, you can have a category “restaurants” and a category “europe”, “asia”, “usa”... so you can create a map of restaurants and people can click the filters “europe”, “usa” ... No limits by this point of view. Also you can add your custom taxonomies with other plugins and use them to filter contents. You can add to the map any type of contents you want, like also pages, posts or whatever. The only limit is that you can’t display entries from different post types, like mixing Places and Articles.
thx for the reply. however more to point was multiple categories assigned to one marker. Categories like Europe, Asia, etc are easy, regions that are separate. A marker is either in or out of the region. But what if I also have a category for “gluten free” and so a marker has both a USA and Gluten Free category?
Yes you can do it no problem for that
Great Plugin, GLWS
Hi there, lovely bit of work. Can I ask a few questions please:
1 – Is there search option to locate nearest? If for example I was in London I could search for posts nearby?
2 – Can I center the map on UK, all my posts would be in 20 locations around UK
3 – Can we change map appearance to light for example rather than dark?
4 – Are the filters at top simply post tags, could I for example change to East, West, North etc?
5 – How would it display multiple posts in same location?
6 – Can we disable a post short term if we don’t want it to appear on map?
Again many thanks it looks great
Hello and thanks for contacting us!
1. Actually not, we were already thinking about the implementation but can0t promise any date
2. The map is centered on the locations you want to display and the zoom fits the locations, so if are only in uk, only UK is shown.
3. Sure, map is light, dark or normal, with 3 different layout and possibility of menu open/closed by default with the layouts 2 and 3
4. You can use any taxonomy associated with the posttype you want to use. There is also a custom post type added by the plugin, with its specific taxonomy (place categories).
5. In the map, one on top of the other. In the list, separated
7. You can delete the coordinates, or you can make a category of the published one and only display these in the map by specifying the taxonomy and the term id.
Thanks, pont 1 would be great, even auto location would be fantastic to show posts local to where visitor is logged on
Yes I know, the issue is that there are limits on the youtube API about this, and sites with big traffic would need to purchase premium Google services for that. you can only geolocate max 10K addresses a month, so above that limit it won’t work unless you make premium Google.
Hey guys getting this error… QT Places Error: the selected post type doesn’t exists or is not active in the plugin settings. Here … http://lvcblinds.com/2016/04/14/our-projects/ and here www.lvcblinds.com while testing. Can you take a look for me.
Hello, if you don’t specify any post type, delete the parameter
posttype=”“
To embed the map you can also simply use [qtplaces].
Please check in the manual all the parameters and how you can customize your map with them. The options are always available also here:
http://qantumthemes.com/demo/qtplaces/how-to-display-a-map/And in the QT Places settings page. Thanks!
Why only show 5 places?
Hello, be sure that you have valid coordinates for each place and that the shortcode is configured correctly. in case, don’t put any parameter to test, just the shortcode [qtplaces].
sorry some more: how do i return to show all markers after filtering a category; can i make the whole sidebar entry clickable or only the marker in the sidebar; thank you
1) Reclick same filter button 2) No is not possible to make whole button clickable. Would be possible adding a couple of CSS lines anyway.
ok thank you.just one thing to make clear. must it be form posts or categories or can i use it to make independent listings on the map. even if i have no posts on wordpress; thank you
maybe you must also make a non wordpress version…
The map works like this: 1) It creates a new post type called places with its own taxonomy (pcategories) 2) In the settings page, you can enable any other post type to create maps out of them. When you do that, in that post type, a new custom fields form will appear underneath the normal content. There you can set address and more, or simply a geolocation. If you add map capabilities to posts, for examples, you can make a map out of your normal blog posts, or any other custom post type.
You can use as filters any taxonomy of any post type.
Using also the terms ID, you can combine a taxonomy and multiple terms, to create a map of a specific post type which displays only the posts of that type which are under a specific category.
Please check the manual here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mqhyjsvey3njl86/vice1.5.1beta1.zip?dl=0In the specific, page 3 and page 6 I think are the ones more interesting for you.
About non Wordpress version: thanks but we only work for Wordpress things
Nowadays is not worth to work without a platform, is like reinventing hot water
