importing videos gets only 2 first videos then stops, on last video sometimes image is missing, like it’s timing out before it imports it. What could be the reason? it started happening 2 – 3 months ago. I upgraded to latest version, but still the same problem.
Hello, please check logs to see if it’s not just skipping already imported videos or any timeout error messages. Please PM me with more info like the query you’re using.
I don’t see any description for how the plugin works with SoundCloud, how does that feature work exactly?
It imports embedded tracks, featured images and comments from SoundCloud based on the keyphrases/groups/playlists/users/tracks and filters you specify. Each track becomes a WordPress post, and you can display the media data however you wish.
Are the URL for SoundCloud Tracks stored in a custom field?
Yes all the video data is saved and can be used anywhere in the post.

No, any private videos will not be part of any API results. Only public videos.

hi john – thank for the update 3.0, a lot of back end improvements. i was looking for new services like vk and mailru, you pretty much cover most popular network, but no international services. Russian streaming networks are huge, i couldn’t find any other plugin using those networks, let me know what you think!
Hmm from what I can see vk is a social network and mailru doesn’t have an API interface.

1. Sorry, Vimeo’s search does not expose any private videos on site, or through the API. 2. Yes it imports the video thumbnail as the featured image.
And not listed (private link)? Or videos with “hide this video from vimeo.com”.
If it’s not in the API then no Video Blogster cannot import it.

You can get videos from a playlist, but I’m not aware of videos being in a playlist but not listed. Can you elaborate? If you mean private videos then no the API will not return those in the results because they are private.
Whoops Im getting ” YouTube API returned The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.” Is this a daily limit thing or what?
YouTube has a daily limit as well as a limit per second for each API key. The stats show it isn’t anywhere near the limits, so not sure why YouTube sends that message. In either case you can create your own API key and set it in the Main Settings (see documentation) instead of sharing the default API key provided.
I think it was based on my ip. I switched IPs and the error disappeared. I switched back and the error returned. No big deal though. The plugin runs nicely money well spent.

There is still a problem with the videotube theme and your plugin. See http://prnt.sc/asjgz5 .... The marked categories are from Post … not from Video custom type categories… Although the categories tallies when imported… it means I must create those categories under Post categories and NOT Video categories which is a custom post type in the videotube theme… A fix will be appreciated.
Those are post categories. VideoTube uses it’s own custom taxonomy ‘categories’ instead, which appear in the taxonomy terms box in the lower left of your screenshot.

You can run the queries manually or in the background with cron.

Yes you can import private tracks as long as you have its secret token.

You’re saying you cannot click on a checkbox? There’s nothing special about it – it’s a normal html element. What about other checkboxes?
I dont want the plugin to import the featured image so I uncheck the box and save the feed but when run the feed it imports the image. So when I checked the feed the check box- unchecked for featured image is not saving.
Okay, in that case, did you also turn off the Utility Function ‘Fetch Missing Thumbnails’ as recommended in the docs? That’s probably what is happening, but since it’s Snaptube that uses it’s own custom data, let me double check.
Yes, it seems Snaptube also has an option to download thumbnails automatically, so make sure that is off as well. If on, note they only support standard and medium quality thumbnails.
Thank you for your response! I am using a plugin called WP to Buffer. I have been having issues with it not working with my website. After doing some research I want to know if posts are made differently then with the publish_post hook. The question is which hook is it? in contus video gallery?
The developer of WP to buffer stated they are using publish_post hook to fetch new post and then publish them to my social media accounts and if videoblogster is not using this same hook than it would not work. They stated they can adjust their code to work with videoblogster but I needed to confirm what the hook was before they adjusted the code. Especially as they are posted as videos in the videogallery and not posts in snaptube
From what I saw I believe its using wp_insert_post but I could be wrong. (guess)
You’d best ask Contus support about that – they use their own custom database tables for their videogallery instead of WordPress, so no hooks for publishing or anything else as far as I know.
If Snaptube is being used, Video Blogster calls Contus to insert their custom data instead of a normal WordPress post. However, when finished, Video Blogster applies the filter ‘vb_create_the_post_finished’. Perhaps you can use that, if you’re set on using Snaptube….
The Scheduler does not import new videos but instead it is finding the duplicate of the older import… thereby skipping it…. How do I fix this…. I want fresh content with the set feeds… as scheduled…
Yes you are sending the same query each time to the video API. It returns the results you requested. If the results are the same as the last query, the duplicates are skipped. ‘fresh content’ will depend on your query and what you want, which you did not mention. I have a problem with importing and publishing directly. I could not find the categories to be published in the shown list of categories from the plugin. How do I make it add the existing categories and tags automatically?
In the ‘Create the Posts’ tab there is a checkbox ‘Import category if provided?’ That will create/add the WordPress category the video is in on the video site.
Ok, I will try that. Consider importing Tags as well in your next update.

Yea, but I am talking about using the Tags that I already have… It should be able to use those tags…. not importing from video source.
Also about the categories… It takes note of categories in Blog post type and not the ones in Video post type…. This is a problem… I want the videos to stay in the Video categories that I have assigned to them.

Categories -> Video Blogster will show the taxonomies registered to the post type used. If none are registered, WordPress shows the default categories.

I have tried several settings but not getting fresh videos with the Scheduler. I only get new post when download it immediately… or increase the number of downloads…
From your 1st screenshot – click ‘Enable Scheduler’ to enable the Scheduler so it can query your feeds.
For this feed http://prnt.sc/aikuw4 – querying 5 ‘nigerian movies’ videos from user ‘NollywoodLove’ ordered by relevance – I’d say there’s a 99.99% chance YouTube will return the same 5 results every time… until a new video is determined by YouTube to be relevant enough to be in the first 5 results.
For this feed http://prnt.sc/aikv9i – querying 4 ‘nigerian football 2016’ videos ordered by date will return the 4 most recent of those videos uploaded to YouTube. Since they are infrequently uploaded, it’s likely no new videos matching that keyphrase search were uploaded since the last check. To avoid duplicates, only when new videos are uploaded since the last check will Video Blogster import them on this feed.
Pre-sale question: I have a music blog, but some videos are restricted by region, I imagine that the company won’t pay for specific regions since it’s not their target, can this be given a runaround? I know that users in the US can see those videos but some are restricted in Dominican Republic, there are fans there also, which buy albums and such, so it’s kind of counter productive in my opinion, but anyway, I want to know if I can work around that or there is another way?

Hmm I haven’t used any of them, so I cannot say which is best. If they conform to WordPress, Video Blogster will work automatically. If they use their own custom fields for video data, we just need to tell Video Blogster what those custom fields are so they’re filled in automatically. If you need any help just hit me up.

Yes they both use the same custom field names for video content so it won’t be a problem. Which theme is best though is entirely a matter of opinion.
