Hello codespacing! I have bought the progress map plugin and using it very happily! I wanted to ask if in this plugin, the posts that we posted appear in the map as well, and if there’s a way to deactivate google maps locations and just have ours.

Please, make sure to activate the plugin. To make sure the plugin is activated, login to your administration and add the following attribute to your URL, then, hit enter.
/admin.php?page=cs_progress_map_plugin
for example:
http://yourwebsite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=cs_progress_map_plugin
If the plugin settings page appears, but, the plugin name doesn’t appear in the admin menu, contact me again and i’ll check that again with you.

I want my own custom posts to appear as the plugin shows. Create subcategories for each one. Restaurant, What kind? I can’t see my own marks or posts in the nearby places map. I want them to work as one, but i cant seem to find the way.

You mean the trip route to a nearby places, correct? The trip route is also provided by Google Maps. The plugin uses their data to draw routes.

Unfortunately, you can’t add hotels or any type of places/locations that belongs to another service or website than Google Maps. If the hotels listed in these websites are also listed on Google Maps Places Sevices, for sure Nearby Places will display them as well.

The problem why you can’t find “Hotels” in the list of places is that Google Maps doesn’t provide such type of places. To find nearby hotels, you need to search using the type “Lodging” (a type is a category of places) and if the hotel “The Green Park Hotel Pendik & Convention Center” was registred in the GMaps Places Database, it’ll be displayed, otherwise it won’t.
The list of places you see in the demo contains all the types allowed by GMaps, each type is a category of places. For example, you can find a hotel in the categories/types “Lodging”, “Night club” etc… You can even find a hotel in the category “Restaurant”. It actually depends on the categories selected by a user when adding the hotel to GMaps. Sorry for the delay. Please make sure to not upload the whole zip file that you’ve downloaded from Codecanyon. Extract the zip file “nearby-map-v1.1” and upload the zip file that you’ll find inside. It is named “nearby-map”.

I was so amazed by your progress map plugin and thought by the description of the plugin, that I can use this extension to progress map also for my own custom type places. to list them in categorys. Or use the nice gelocation button / search form.
but unfortunately I can’t use anything from this plugin to extend progress map. this plugin only shows other nearby places.. what I don’t want. I want my places/locations to be shown.
any plans to merge the two plugins a bit more ? or any chance for a refund ?

Pretty nice addon. But if I got it right, the POI items are those of Google Maps ? Can it be customized with my own POI/locations/icons ? If it’s not possible it’s a no buy for me.

Yes i agree with you but it has been 2 years that Progress Map is on the market and you’re only the third person to ask for this feature. Instead, i received lots of requests to build a nearby map plugin based on Google places. I can’t promise you, but i’ll start thinking about this feature because i have an idea where to start.

Yes you can do this using the two plugins. You’ll be able to add diffrent location for your properties and to display nearby places for each of your properties.

Hi,
I don’t think they’re similar. The “Nearby Places” is an extension of “Progress Map”. It uses the posts/custom posts created in this one to display all nearby points of interests of a post/custom post.

How work Nearby Places Categories ? It is automatic from google or can i choose wich categories i want ? Can i use my nearby places created in a private kml files ? Does it possible to translate categories names ?

I’m glad you like it.
The Nearby Places uses the category of places provided by Google Maps. From the plugin settings page, you can deactivate the categories that you don’t want to use, you can also sort their order.
Unfortunately, the plugin can not be used with your kml places. Also, translating the categories names is not yet available. I’ll try to add this in a future update ASAP.
