My Goshhh,
I was suffering from a huge load of mysql for 3 months. Even with a day to day mysql tuning, the overall site performance is only increasing a bit. Finally I decided to do some intense search on my situation and found that there was really a HUGE GARBAGE in my wp_options table. I tried to manually delete them but I just couldn’t as it was way toooo muchhhh. But with your plugin help, I could done the task in less than 5 minutes.
And now my website is running like a rocket! The HTTPD Process is not leaking again and the database is backing to the state of smooth and slick!
Thanks you very much. Your plugin is a life savior!!!!
Hi,
Thanks for the purchase!
I think that most WordPress users are not aware of the fact that WordPress can generate huge amount of garbage in the database, and that website performance will suffer because of it.
Great to see that you too have seen huge improvement with the performance after the cleanup.
Regards, Milan
I just bought your plugin to remove traces of old plugins but does not work
Thanks for the purchase! This plugin can clean up all sorts of things, and remove obsolete and unused data. But it can’t remove data from old plugins (and that is not listed in features).
I have other plugin called Smart Options Optimizer that can run trace and attempt to detect options that are not used any more.
Smart Cleanup Tools is much more useful plugin and its cleanup effects will improve website performance. Smart Options Optimizer targets narrow set of records, and in 99% of cases these few records have no impact ot website performance.

Hello Milan,
Excellent! Thank you for letting me know. Do I need to delete the previous version as there is no update options available like with the other plugins?
Thomas
Hi,
There is no method (yet) for updating plugins from CodeCanyon like you can do with free plugins from WordPress.org.
You can remove old plugin, and upload new, or upload through FTP. In anycase, settings will remain from previous version.
Milan
Hello Milan,
Thank you – let me know when it is fixed and when an update is available.
Thomas
New version is now available.
Hello Milan,
I got the scheduler to run – it was simply my mistake not checking any boxes. Looking into my php error log this morning I found about 10 of these errors:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_plugin_active() in /homepages/40/d92997765/htdocs/ewealth/wp-content/plugins/smart-cleanup-tools/load.php on line 138
Thomas
OK, I will investigate this. Looks like this function is not always initialized. I will release update to the plugin in a day or two to fix this error.
Milan
Yes, after checking it they work….
Well, I guess I have to run this tool manually once in a while. I doubt that I will have any success talking with 1and1 about this problem.
However I never had any problems with my database and I am sure there are possibilities for you to work around this, at least to make it less error sensitive.
Thomas
Database error youhad is not related to my plugin, but ot normal cron process. This is not an error that will appear always, but points to intermitten database issues.
I also realized that all the log files under the tab ‘Log’ are empty. Maybe that has something to do with it…
Plugin log files are disabled by default, and you need to enable them from settings tab. But, they don’t log server errors.
Is there a possibility I can manually add a scheduler? I think there is a plugin that can do this, however I would need the code (instructions) to do this.
There is no difference in adding scheduled job manually or with plugin, same function is used. But, in this case it is not easy to form the function since you need to select tools to use, and that is a complex object with settings.
I installed a little plugin that shows me a debugging tool and a error log file. After trying to create a schedule I get the following error message:
WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT option_value FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ‘_transient_doing_cron’ LIMIT 1 made by _get_cron_lock
Maybe that helps to locate the problem….
Note: I cleaned the log file and did the procedure again and this time nothing in the log file showed up.
This is WordPress Cron error. To avoid running multiple crons, WordPress is setting cron lock value in the database. ut on your case, due to database overload or bad database optimization, this query fails to execute, so WordPress cron system fails. Database issues are very common on 1and1 hosting and over the last 5 years I am working on WordPress plugins I had endless list of compaints against this host, and usually there is not much you can do, but hope they are willing to fix the database issues you are having.
Milan
Hello Milan,
I am running WordPress 3.5.2. I have a plugin called “Improved Cron”, which I disabled and checked again to create a schedule. But it does not work. I am on 1and1 host and I don’t see any error logs on the server.
Thomas
Hi,
I never used ‘Improved Cron’ plugin, but it is possible this plugin made changes to something that remain even when it is disabled. My plugin uses native WordPress Cron functions, and it is almost impossible that jobs are not created. When that fails, usually there must be an error logged. Than again, you are on 1and1 hosting, and they usually don’t log any errors server side or are willing to help you with that.
You should try to enable WordPress to save own error log and check it again.
Milan
Hello Dave,
Just installed your plugin and I can’t get the scheduler to work. After creating a new job and saving it, it does not show up anywhere.
Any ideas?
cheers
Thomas
Hi,
Thanks for the purchase!
Which WordPress version are you using? Do you use normal CRON built into WordPress (it is not disabled, because it can be)? Do you have any errors in your server error log after creating new job?
Milan
Hello thanks for the gr8 plugin.
One question: This plugin work with any cache plugins like w3tc wp super cache etc?
Hi,
Thanks for the purchase!
It will work, but database cache method in w3tc can cause problems since it is caching database requests and results. This is not always the case, but you should disable database cache before running cleanup. And, in any case database cache is not very efficient caching methods. I never use object and database cache on my websites. They can cause too many problems.

Hello!
With this plugin can make the site load and work faster?
Hello,
Depending on how much unused (and how large they are) settings you have in options (or meta and user) tables. This is plugin for targeted deletion of options that are detected as unused (it involves scanning process over period of time). It might not help with speed of website at all.
I can recommend this plugin for full size cleanup that can remove a lot of unused data (based on SQL queries that can find unlinked records, orphaned data and more): Smart Cleanup Tools – http://codecanyon.net/item/smart-cleanup-tools/3714047 .
Also with Smart Admin Tweaks – http://codecanyon.net/item/smart-admin-tweaks/3777002 you can control 40 different settings in WP that can’t be changed through WordPress interface, and many of them can help with improving website speed.
Regards, Milan
This comment was about the Smart Options Optimizer: plugin for targeted deletion of options that are detected as unused. There was a mixup with the commenting and it ended up here.
Smart Cleanup Tools can’t remove individual records remaining after old plugins are removed! That can be done with Smart Options Optimizer.
Performance wise, Smart Cleanup Tools is much better plugin that can remove large amount of obsolte records from WordPress standard tables.
Milan
Hello, Trying to clean the options table using your plugin. After waiting more than 15 minutes refreshed the page. No cleaning at all and an empty log file. The estimated cleaning size is about 1.2mb (1348 records). Any suggestions? Thank you
Hi,
Which tools you tried to run? Empty log might be due to the fact that log files are disabled by default, so go to settings panel and enable them. Also, if the loader overlay that displays the time is not gone, there might be some JavaScript error there that can point to the problem. It would be good to know what this error is (Firebug in Firefox can display results of the AJAX calls).
If you can’t figure this on your own, send me the email via contact form on my CodeCanyon profile: http://codecanyon.net/user/GDragoN and than you can send me login for your website so I can try and debug what the issue is.
Regards, Milan
Thank you, I will try to find the error and report it to you.
Hello,
Does this program also support custom post types?
Eric
Yes, you can delete data related to one or more post types you can select for the tools that support that.
Hi, is it cleaning all files related to uninstalled plugin ? I mean when we uninstall certain plugin, there are some setting file or else that left in the database. Can I use this plug in to clean it up ? And under what option in the cleaning menu/dashboard perform this task ? Thanks
Hi,
Plugin description clearly lists what can be cleaned and removed by this plugin. Determining what settings are leftovers of some uninstalled plugin is not exact process, and this plugin was not made for that. Data you can remove and space regain by using this plugin is far more serious and bigger then removing few settings records that are not used.
But, I have another plugin called Smart Options Optimizer, that can scan and trace settings usage to try and determine if options are in use at all and it can determine if some settings are from uninstalled plugins and safe to remove. This is not exact and 100% effective method, but it is close: http://codecanyon.net/item/smart-options-optimizer/4562514
Milan
any doc for latest update ??
Hi, plugin description is updated now with changelog, user guide is not, nothing is changed for that. One tool is added with few minor changes and fixes.
Hello, does this delete unattached images as well?
Not right now. That is potentially problematic, because image might be in use even if it is not attached to any post. There is no attached-to-post requirement to use any uploaded image/media.
Milan
Buy!
Thanks for the purchase!
having this error in log files : Warning: file_get_contents/wp-content/uploads/sct_sql_run.log) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /smart-cleanup-tools/forms/log.php on line 56
but files already created with 775 permission
Hi, path you posted is not valid (file_get_contents/wp-content/uploads/sct_sql_run.log), it is not complete. I am not sure what can cause this, since I can’t reproduce it, and I use plugin on many sites. What WP version do you use?
Milan
the path is valid … just i remove my domain and so on
no worry solve it out, when i copy files name, accidentally copy space behind too ….
OK, great. Let me know if you have any other problems with the plugin.
