Hey there,
Ive been using your “Visual Builder” for many months now and absolutely love the plugin! I stumbled across this plugin today and purchased it straight away as im 100% confident your product will be great!
You mentioned in the description of this product templates can be created for custom post types! Is there any video’s or documentation on how to do this at all?
Regards
Tom
In the description I mentioned that custom templates can be exported/imported. Could you please share more details, what you are looking for?
And thank you for the kind words!
Hi There,
What im referring too is custom post types. E.g. Im planning to add some custom post types to my website and wanted to know if I can implement a template into the post types for layout purposes etc?
Regards Tom
Yes, you can use Visual Composer with custom posts types too.
Amazing thanks so much
You are welcome!
Hi Mixy,
Great plugin – love it! As a suggested feature – if it’s possible – it would be great to be able to save an element on a page as a template rather than just the whole page. I discovered this excellent plugin after using VC for a while and already had a number of elements that I’d manually duplicated. I realise it’s possible to just grab the appropriate tagged area from within the page, but a nice button would be so much more civilised.
Thanks again for a great tool!
Thanks for the idea. In other words you would like to save “Settings” for particular content element? eg insert gallery with prefilled settings (previously saved).
Basically yes. I had already created quite a few pages containing re-used elements before I discovered your plugin. To “duplicate” them I had been dropping back to the classic editor and grabbing the shortcodes / content then pasting that into the new page. I’ve since taken that content and created content blocks with it in Templatera but it would have been nice to just have a button available somewhere on the element to be able to do that – so save the settings and content of the element for reuse. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks again for the suggestions. We have quite big todo list already. I’m adding this to our list too
Hi Mixey,
I’ve downloaded visual composer and activated it, but when I go to settings: visual composer, it gives the following error: Cannot load wpb_vc_settings. Do you have any idea?
Hi,
Could you please open support ticket and provide us with more details? (url, login, pass) so we could see what you are talking about? Currently we are not aware of any problems.
Am I correct in my understanding that it is possible to save a template with this plugin on examplesite1.com and then use that same template in examplesite2.com ? In other words, make my life a heck of a lot easier when it comes to domain transfer time? If so, I’m sold. Thanks!

Hi Mixey, I read the Q&A a little more closely and found my answer… the templates will work within one site only… Alas, some things are too good to be true! lol. Still, the plugin looks great.
I used VC first via the EWA Bootstraps theme which had VC integrated into it. I loved its features; it makes for very VERY happy clients!
This is a GREAT thing to have!
… Anyway, I decided to go with another theme that isn’t even on Themeforest… The natural/organic theme – and i bought VC in hopes that importing content from EWA Bootstraps into this completely different theme (with the original VC plugin installed) would all work together. To my delight, it all worked almost seamlessly! ... I’m pretty amazed, actually at the versatility of the VC plugin. There were only a few adjustments I had to make with it (where ozy (EWA developers) had edited the coding to match their theme, etc, but overall not a big deal)... It truly is a fantastic addition to those of us in the WordPress designer/developer world. Especially those with clients who wish to update things on their own!
I’m going to purchase the tables addition to VC now and I’m so excited about the easy integration of it! I’ve been using another plugin for tables that has been a complete nightmare. The VC tables plugin truly is like a dream. I’ll probably end up buying this one in the near future and I just wanted to express my appreciation for all of your and your team’s hard work on this project. People like xxxsabn never cease to amaze me with their complete disregard for due respect. The plugins you’ve created are making designers’ lives all over the world so very much easier and simpler, and for such a small cost. I for one appreciate it so very much.
Sorry to be long winded… that comment just rubbed me the wrong way and I wanted to express my appreciation so you know not everyone is so arrogant and unappreciative! K, I’m gonna shuuup now!
Thanks again!

P.S. Your English is great. I couldn’t fathom learning a second language – especially considering you’ve already learned multiple CODING languages as well!
Thanks for such a nice comment! Regarding, your question. With Templatera you actually can export and then import your templates to another site.
may i offer own extensions vor VC ?
Yes, Absolutely! I would love to see what you can come up with. Extra cash never hurts
hi,
is there any way to store css modifications with a template ? i dont like to save my css settings globaly (in the settings). same with other sites created with VC.
Did I understand your right, that you would like to have option to store css code that will be included only on a page with a particular template?
yes
or on pages with vc … look at mysitemyway.com… they offer a css/html for every posts and pages … very handy !
Sounds like a good idea. I’m writing it down.
I use Visual Composer, LOVE IT! Not sure if this extension s right for e though. I have a question. If I make a template and save it, can I only edit the template of it? I have a site for DJs and want to make a template so I can drop it in on each DJ page and change the social links, Bios, etc for each individual page. Will this work for that or no?
That you can achieve with Visual Composer out of the box (save and reuses template). Templatera will add more features to template system and from received feedback users love it.
I missed this one when it was released, glad I had a look around your site
Awesome!
I’m glad you did it.
Hi, a pre-purchase question for you. I have been playing around with the Visual Composer included in the Ultimatum theme framework and so far LOVE it. Templatera looks like an excellent addition to VC. I am trying to dumb down the ‘edit page’ for my clients as much as possible. When the template block is used on multiple pages (like the ‘Contact’ block in your demo example) can users click the template block directly on the Edit Page to edit the template block, or do they have to go to the separate Template Tab in order to edit template blocks? I know it is only a few extra clicks but I am trying to figure out a way to make my sites client-proof.
I will most likely pick up this addon, Thanks for the help in advance!
When your clients will user “Templatera” they will have “visual representation” of the content (which is loaded from a template), but they can’t edit it directly. In order to edit templates, they will need to navigate to the VC Templates section in their dashboard. Anyway, if you are looking for a better/easier way to work with the templates, Templatera is a very nice addition.
hello,
VC & templatera purchased, installed on wpmu, really good, congrats..5* voted!
juste want to knox where/how can i use the 15 css templates
thks @mixey
oups okay, got it soory-thx
Thanks for the ratings! Much-much appreciated!
Hey mixey,
I have purchased VC, and am looking at templatera, but I am looking to create snippets / blocks for a MU version of wordpress – eg. I have main site and want to put snippets / code blocks on sub sites on the MU. Is this possible? So they should be made available via a global snippet code..
Thanks
Hi,
No I don’t this this is possible. Templatera registers custom_post_type in your site, I don’t think you can expose content from one site (in your multisite networks) and make it accessible on all other sites.
Can Templatera be used within the sidebar widget – to easily allow customization of that content?
Templatera should be used within your page (this is how it was designed). But if in your sidebars shortcodes are parsed it may work there too, but we didn’t test it.
I do not believe shortcodes work in my sidebar. Thanks for the response. I am having a good experience in general with the plugin.
Hi Michael,
This looks/sounds great. Definitely an excellent addition to VC. I wanted to ask if you would consider adding some screenshots (or live elements = even better) to the demo showcasing all VC content elements in sets using each of the 15 new CSS themes? It would be very helpful to have as a reference for both pre and post-purchase.
Thanks for all your great work with VC!
Thanks for the suggestion! Sure I’ll do that!
hello,
just purchased the extended license. Is there a guide on integrating with with themes?
This is the best place to start digging: http://kb.wpbakery.com/index.php?title=Category:Visual_Composer
Ooops… I thought you are talking about VC. No there’s no guide. But I believe you should follow new Envato guidelines about WordPress theme: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/472/85/wordpress-theme-submission-requirements
Hi again Mixey
I was wondering whether it’d be difficult to limit the amount of text that shows in the text boxes, when looking at VC in this view: http://grab.by/ppRE
The reason for my suggesting this is that, if you have a large number of text blocks and if some of those text blocks contain large volumes of text, it becomes difficult to use the drag and drop functionality and to get a quick overview or snapshot of all of the blocks and other content elements sitting within a page or post.
There are probably various ways of limiting what shows, but the best option (I think anyway) would work like this:
(1) The admin would be able to select, in the Visual Composer settings/options, how many characters or words would appear as the default. If a user didn’t make any selection here, the text block would show all its content (i.e., the default would be ‘unlimited’) but if the user did select a number of characters/words, only that number would show for each text block
(2) If a text block were to contain more text that the default specified in the options, a scroll bar would appear within, and for, that particular text block, allowing the user to scroll through the remaining content of that block.
Do you think it’d be feasible to update the plugin to include this functionality please? I think it’d be super helpful. I’d be happy to contribute a reasonable sum towards its development.
All the best. Richard
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking about that myself too. Here’s how I see it: you have some kind of the checkbox in the page edit screen which toggles between full view and “bricks” view. Eg. if you switch to the “bricks” view, all block on that page are collapsed to the one fixed size.
That’d be awesome. Do you think this is something you’ll roll into the plugin please? For the bricks view, it might be helpful to be able to specify the number of lines in each brick, from – say – 1 to 10?
I’ve added that to our tracker. It shouldn’t be hard to implement, so when dev will have a spare second it will be added.
Great. Thanks Mixey. Much appreciated.
Hi Mixey. This is an awesome plugin and supplement to Visual Composer. Thank you. Having played around with it a bit, I see there are two ways to include template text into a page:
1. Within the Visual Composer, you can click the “Templates” button and then, from the drop-down, load the template part you’d like to see appear in the relevant part of the page. This seems to, in effect, paste the text of the template part into a new text block.
2. Alternatively, you can click the “Add element” button, and then the “Templatera” content element. This approach seems to pull the template part into the page by way of a shortcode.
Both approaches have their advantages. However, for my purposes, I prefer the first approach.
A problem I’m experiencing with the first approach, however, is that when the plugin pulls in the text from the template part and places it in a text block, it strips out any formatting. As such, a template part which may have a number of separate paragaphs (for example) is presented as a single, continuous block of text.
Is there any way of changing this behaviour please, perhaps through an option in the settings page, to preserve a template part’s formatting when its content is reproduced in a text block?
Many thanks.
Kind regards Richard
Hi Richard,
Thank you for kind words and such a detailed explanation. Please make sure you are using latest Visual Composer and Templatera addon. We already addressed that problem.
Thanks Mixey, but I am using the latest versions of both plugins (3.6.10 and 1.0.1). Hmmm… Any ideas?
Hi again. Strangely, I re-uploaded the same version of VC again and now all is well! Awesome. Thanks.
Awesome! glad to hear that!
Hi -
Can this work to create templates for the WooCommerce plugin?
Thanks!
Hi,
Could you be more specific? What do you mean?
Ability to restrict the Visual Composer Content Elements per post_type and eventually per role would be a super add-on !
Hi,
Under Settings->Visual Composer you can restrict content elements per user role already.
Ok great ! Hopefully restrincting will be done per post_type too
Thanks.
Just purchased this plugin because it sounds promising – and I am impressed with the constant improvement in your vc plugin.
Can Templatera be used to construct sidebars and then place them as an element in VC ?
Thanks! Yes you can create VC Template and place there your elements, then use “Templatera” content element to load it to your page. Here’s a small video demo: http://vc.wpbakery.com/addons/templatera/
Does this augment the vc plugin or does it appear as another plugin? Will it increase load times by any amount? I am always looking to reduce plugin counts.
This add extra functionality to Visual Composer. Theoretically it will add some loading time, but we never noticed anything. It’s really simple (from code view perspective), so you shouldn’t be worried
