Hi. I was about to throw a message to the forums suggesting the creation of this plugin. Which is good to see someone has already approached the problem. My only concern is the mobile support. I need to tell the users of Android Froyio to use another browser in their old mobiles. Does this support all kind of browsers so we can choose where to push the warning message? Thanks.
Thanks for suggestion. You want to see other mobile browser included in plugin options? I think don’t make sense to add only for Android Froyio.

And last but not least, if you disable the notification it keeps popping up on every page, that is really annoying for the visitor.

manoucho, thanks we will think about this implementation too.
Hi,
When will you be releasing the new version, which does not keep popping up on every page (even after disabling notifications) ?
Best, Mark
Thanks for notification and sorry for delay.
We have implemented this feature. Waiting for codecanyon support approve
latest version is available
Hi, Firstly, thanks for the great plugin!
Will you be implementing mobile (built-in) browser checking as well? This would be ideal for only displaying a message rather than the the Desktop browser links when mobile users visit from an old device using the stock browser.
jon1790,
thanks for purchasing and suggestion.
We will think about implementation
The changelog says 1.3 however when I download and install it shows as 1.2.1 is this a bug?
Thxs
Clamle, thanks for purchasing.
I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, codecanyon is not approved yet our latest modifications.
Latest version will be available soon
I’m sorry to “spam” your wall, it’s just that it’s not possible to reply to a previous comment…
Looking at your code, can I solve the issue by excluding /wp-content/plugins/warning-old-browser/css/frontend.css to be cached ?
W3TC gives the option to exclude specific pages.
Hi
Sorry for late reply.
frontend.css – it’s a styles file. If you remove it, frontend part will be messed.
Hi!
Still happy with the plugin, I have a question though. Today I experienced an issue, suddenly the website was telling everybody that their browser was obsolete.
After trying out a few things, I emptied the cache from W3TC, and the problem was gone.
I’m not highly familiar with caching in wordpress and how your plugin works, do you have an idea how I can prevent this from happening again?
Thanks a lot for your help! Best regards Manu
Can you send link to your site, in our support@fruitfulcode.com
We will assist you.
Thanks a lot. Email sent, I appreciate the help.
Thanks for updating to 1.3.1 ! Does the new version by any chance solves the caching issue ?
Currently no, looking for solutions. Sorry for delays.
Would it be possible to add options to customize the URL’s to download the browsers? For example the current URL to download Chrome is pointing to the UK version.
Also it’d be helpful if the download options can be customized by OS, for example there is no point to show the Safari download button if you are running Windows (Apple doesn’t support Safari for Windows anymore).
pichogve,
thanks for purchasing and suggestions.
You can replace urls to browser links in source code warning-old-browser/inc/admin_page.php line 202
$out .= '<a href="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home" target="_blank" class="ie" title="Internet Explorer"></a>'; $out .= '<a href="http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new" target="_blank" class="ff" title="Mozilla FireFox"></a>'; $out .= '<a href="https://www.google.com/intl/uk/chrome/browser" target="_blank" class="ch" title="Google Chrome"></a>'; $out .= '<a href="http://www.apple.com/safari" target="_blank" class="sfr" title="Safari"></a>'; $out .= '<a href="http://www.opera.com/download" target="_blank" class="opr" title="Opera"></a>';About safari, looks like safari 5.1.7 is available for windows. http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1531
I had the same request as manoucho, but just to let you know I have now solved this completely by using the Wordpress Foobar plugin in combination with a free WP plugin called PHP Browser Detection.
The latest version of Foobar allows one to use conditional logic on them, so all I needed to do is set the logic to only display the browser warning foobar for all browsers older than “x”.
The Foobar allows one to set Client Side cookies, so once the message has been read, it can be collapsed and stays that way if the user does not wish to use a different browser.
Much better, I could not use your plugin for this reason.
I won’t switch back now, as the Foobar is long tested in the market and allows for a very high degree of customisation and positioning (sides, top, bottom), along with easing, delays and page specific display triggers.
The way I have done it requires some slightly advanced configuration that some people may not be comfortable with though, so if you can include this as a priority it will be very beneficial to everyone.
And last but not least, if you disable the notification it keeps popping up on every page, that is really annoying for the visitor.
manoucho, thanks we will think about this implementation too.
Yes, this one is quite important given the fact your display hides the top of the website, where often the menu is. So if somebody browses with an old browser, the website becomes unusable if your pop up comes all the time. Thanks!
Another thing: thanks for the translatable version! However when using a translation plugin such as WPML, it seems that the English string is hardcoded, therefore we can only translate the original warning message, not a custom one. At least it’s the impression I have
Our plugin is fully internationalized so that it can be translated into many languages.
Translatable files are in the Gettext format, which is the standard format used in WordPress. Try to use this software http://www.poedit.net/
OK, thanks!
Great plugin and ot works thank you!!!!!! Do we receive notifications of update via the wordpress dashboard ?
One suggestion: it’s a plugin we set-up once and then forget (which is good!) therefore I really don’t see the point in having it so visible in the dashboard… luckiky not all plugin providers do the same as you
Why not simply adding it to the “Tools” dashboard menu ?
manoucho, thanks we will think about this implementation
Thank you.
Im going to buy this but I im going to wait until I get more money. I love it because on old browsers some stuff shows up messed up.
Thanks. We agree with you
Updated to the latest version. Using WP 3.5. Worked before and now it won’t work at all. Can’t turn it on, can’t select colors, can’t choose different browser versions.
Every time I click Save, it goes back to default and sets it to off. Rather annoying that it won’t work. Any idea if something went wrong with the update?
I can’t provide you access to this website, but if you have any clue what’s going on with it, please let me know.
mrhocs, thanks for purchasing
can you send access to your website to support@fruitfulcode.com we will assist you.
I clearly said I can’t provide access to this website.
If you might know the issue or something I can test, let me know, if not, I guess I have to write off this as a loss. I’ve already tested disabling all other plugins. I’m wondering if this isn’t completely compatible with WP 3.5.
Can you try to download plugin again? What is your plugin name folder? Must be warning-old-browser
Hi,
great Plugin, could you make an Option, that clicking on the Update-Buttons opens an new Window! When my Customers are on my Site, they leave my Site, i don´t want this.
As the Suggestion of in4fun, i´d also like a custom Option for the Links of the Update-Pics
Rock on!
Cheers Michael
Michael,
Update will be available soon. Keeps in touch.
Minekus,
target=”_blank” is added. You can replace browser images in plugin folder.
My update wish list:
1. I would rather block the display completety, instead of showing the messed up page with a small notice on top. That would be nice.
2. It’s nice that I can set the language, but why are my german speaking customers clicking on an english update site? So right now I had to modify the english links to german links in the admin_page.php
in4fun,
Thanks for purchasing and suggestions.
Hi, so this is quite nice, but if someone chooses not to upgrade and they disable the notification, then it should not keep popping up on every page.
It is a bit invasive, and a simple session cookie would solve this wouldn’t it?
Do you know if it is possible to make this change myself, or if you will implement in the next release?
gecko_guy thanks for purchasing.
We will make this changes in new plugin version.
Hi, I see a new release. Has this change also been done?
Thanks
Guy
Sorry, this feature is not yet implemented
If people view my site in Firefox without flash installed there is an error. Can this plugin test for missing flash on end user’s machine?
Xancholy,
Sorry our plugin don’t make this warning. I think browsers default have warning message about missing flash player
Everything seems to be working now. After making some adjustments to another plugin, Foobar (which I like a lot) your plugin looks GREAT!
When & what are you planning for next version release?
Some items to consider: ...html allowed within text box ...mobile browser support ...auto detection of WINDOWS environment & not offer Safari choice
FOUR STAR…Thanks!
TallmanProduction,
Thanks for review and suggestions. We will think about this implementations.
Plugin is blocking access to at least 1 of my pages. The screen that appears indicates that I should update browser…there are links (BUT NO PRETTY IMAGES like you showed on your screen shot). How to make this so images of the various browsers appear & user is able to acknowledge that they understand that things may not work with their old browser BUT STILL CONTINUE TO VIEW SITE?
TallmanProduction, thanks for purchasing.
Strange things. Please can you provide link to your website? We will assist you. support@fruitfulcode.comWe purchased the plugin, but I’m not seeing any warning. I have IE 9 and set the IE to version 9 and still no warning.
Thanks for purchasing. You will see warning if sign out wordpress. Message hidden for admin.
