Grupo Chat is a Progressive Web Application (PWA). A PWA is a website with looks and feels like a native Android or iOS application but it is website based. Being website based has a very huge advantage that the user does not have to download the app from the play store or the app store. When they visit the website, they are shown a native pop-up saying “Add to Homescreen” Taping on this popup compiles the website and installs it on the device.
You can use tools like PWABuilder (https://www.pwabuilder.com/) to convert a PWA into an Android or iOS app

Disabling features – You can disable features such as the audio player and mini-games through the Grupo Site Roles module (Menu → Modules → Site Roles).
Location filter for groups – This feature is not currently available. As an alternative, you can use group categories to organize groups by location.
Phone verification – Phone verification can be enabled through Grupo SMS settings.

I’ve tested the software in the demo and it feels perfect. I just wanted to know in case of video or audio call within a group using either Livekit or Agora, does the it restrict the maximum number of people who can join the call? Eg if like say a group has 500k members can one call and all of them can join the call

If a user purchases a membership package and then joins a group that grants access based on that membership, will their access to the group be automatically removed once the membership expires? I see the “Site Role Upon Expiration” setting, but it appears that the user still retains access to the group as long as they remain a group member.
Also, under the user “Settings,” there is an option for them to change their “Country.” Is it possible to remove or disable this field entirely?

Regarding the first query:To restrict groups based on site roles, ensure that you use the “Role-restricted Category” field when creating or editing Group Categories. A user may already be a member of a group, but if their site role does not grant access to that group category, they will not be able to access the category or any of its associated groups.
Regarding the second query:To restrict editing of the Country field, go to Modules > Custom Fields, edit the Country custom field, and look for the “Editable Only Once” option. Set it to Yes and save your changes.

Regarding Paid Groups:You can change an existing group to a paid group anytime using the Edit Group option. Your current group members will not be charged—only new members who join after the change will need to pay.

Hi. Here are a few questions and suggestions.
1. Is it possible to use SMS as optional? If I disable the phone number during registration using the “Hide Phone Number Field in Registration Page” option, users no longer see the “Phone Number” field. It would be good if this field could remain optional instead of mandatory.
2. The ability for users to choose the channels and types of notifications.
3. When a user enters the OTP code they receive via SMS for verification and confirms it, the registration page just refreshes. It would be better if the user were automatically logged in to the site afterwards, as the current behavior is confusing.

So, when a user creates a group category, will it restrict other users from creating groups within that category? In other words, will only the user who created the category be able to create groups within it? Will another user only be able to create a group within that category if the creator grants them permission?

Feature Specification – Technical & UX Requirements
1. Flash Nick System Integration When a user uploads a Flash Nick (image-based or 3D-rendered nickname), the system must automatically hide their default profile picture and text-based username. The Flash Nick asset becomes the sole visible identity element within the platform’s UI.
2. Enhanced Username Styling Options Users who do not use Flash Nick should retain access to the existing username customization set:
Colored usernames
Bold typography
Gradient color effects
Glow and highlight effects
Smooth transition/animation effects These styling options must be fully compatible across all client views.
3. Gift-to-Currency Conversion System (Optional) A tipping ecosystem may be included, but it should avoid direct “tip me” or “support me” prompts to prevent misuse or social pressure. Instead, users can send virtual gifts to others, and the recipient can optionally convert those gifts into real currency.
The platform’s commission percentage must be configurable.
Conversion flow must be secure, transparent, and aligned with platform policies.
4. Dynamic Day/Night Mode Background Handling Group room backgrounds must support separate assets for Day Mode and Night Mode. In Night Mode, bright or white backgrounds should be automatically replaced with darker, eye-friendly alternatives to ensure proper UX and reduce visual strain.
5. Configurable Group Room Microphone Capacity Group rooms must support scalable microphone configurations:
Single-microphone mode
Dual-microphone mode
Multi-microphone mode Room owners should be able to purchase predefined capacity packages (e.g., 3-mic rooms, 5-mic rooms), with these limits enforced at the server level.
6. Microphone-Based Voice Chat Interface Redesign The traditional “phone call” icon must be replaced with a microphone icon to avoid confusion.
Group rooms should display microphone slots visually on the interface.
Each row contains 4 mic slots; maximum 2 rows are allowed (total of 8 mic positions). This redesign reduces onboarding complexity, as many users currently fail to understand how to join voice chat.
7. Universal Listening Mode (Passive Audio Access) The current system allows only users who “join with audio” to hear the conversation. This must be replaced with a passive listening model:
All room participants can hear voice chat by default.
Joining the microphone is optional.
Users can listen and type without taking the mic or making their presence obvious. This resolves a major UX gap, ensuring users can follow conversations even when they prefer not to speak.
