My client asked me if it’s possible to export a list of users and/or a list of listings. The question made sense to me, I just did not see an option. Can this be done?

Hi, My emails are not sending. I set up the correct SMTP information. I looked through all the comments and found this: https://www.gmass.co/smtp-test I tested, and received the message, so my credentials are correct. But when I try to reset password or send a user an email, I get “Error sending message”
I looked at the PHP error log and saw this error. Not sure if it has anything to do with it or its a different issue:

Hi, ran into a problem. I wanted to replace “Get Started Today” link in the nav for non-signed in users. I created a header-child.php and under // user is not logged in, I replaced the link with my own to a page link.
But when I save the header-child.php, and look not logged in, it still shows “Get Listed Today button instead of mine. I tried with header.php as well. What am I doing wrong?

It should work either way, so maybe you have some kind of caching system running on your server or browser. Try hard reloading the page using CTRL + F5

Thank you. I figured out what it was. The home page had its own nav code. That’s why it was working on the explore pages but not on the home page.
I changed on the home page and all works now. Thanks again for a great script!

Recaptchas are spyware, so if you want to improve security, better not use them. That’s why it will never be included in this script.

Legal in which jurisdiction, there are thousands around the world, ignoring other jurisdictions is a form of discrimination.
It’s up to you to decide if this script will satisfy your use-case either as-is or through modifications done by you.
Bootstrap 5 is interesting, mostly because it doesn’t import jquery. Although other than that, there is not much gain for the current use-case. So currently no ETA.

I have some pre-sales questions:
1. Can I add a listing to multiple categories or only one?
2. Can I customise the filter, i.e. remove and add custom filter options?
3. Can I add custom fields to a listing and use them in the filter?
4. I would like to use the hierarchy Country > (State) > City > Listing similar as TripAdvisor des. Is that possible?
5. Can I show geo-pages without listings (e.g. Be the first to list your business)? Can I add custom text geo and category pages? Is the geo data already prefilled in your database or do I need to manually credit create each location page?
I would like to setup a travel directory similar like TripAdvisor but for one specific travel category only.

2. yes, filters are created from custom fields, when you create a custom field, you can define whether it will show in the search filter
3. custom fields are added to categories, not listings

5. not possible. As for geo-data, there are sql files available containing cities/regions for most countries (accuracy is not guaranteed though, depending on the country, lat/lng data may be missing)

Do Font Awesome icons not work for the icons tag field for Custom Fields? I tried, but it didn’t work. Line Awesome icon did, but I don’t like them as much and there aren’t as many.

You can use Font Awesome icons but you need to include the Font Awesome CSS file. I suggest including the CSS include in the templates/head.php file.

In addition, can you provide documentation on making sure that users who login, do not remain logged in forever. The system ideally should only leave them logged in for no more than an hour and then close the connections thereby logging the user back out.

If you have a directory that has more than one country, is it possible to have a listing without a state? For example, if you have the United States and England, England doesn’t really use states/provinces/etc, but if you go to create a city in the admin section, it defaults to the first states (I assume so the city can be attached to the country that state is in). This is probably more of a suggestion for an update, but can the country be added to the city creation page, so that way the state can be left blank, or at least filter the states to only show those based on the selected country. Having multiple countries can potentially make the states list very long.

It’s not possible to add listings without state but ‘state’ is just the default label. Through the language editor, you can relabel it to something like ‘state/region/province’, most countries have multiple administrative divisions. When creating a listing, you only need to select the city, and having a city associated with a region avoids problems with duplicate city names.

How do I add a background color to categories?

Category bg color is not used anywhere in the default template, but you can retrieve the bg color you defined when creating the category by qyerying the database directly, query the cat_bg column. But check if cat_bg is available, in some templates the variable $cat_bg is already available, so you don’t need to query the database.
