From here, you can check that 1 credit is 5 minutes of speaking, not for a session time. And, yes, AI is expensive 
But you have an alternative – to use the avatar with ElevenLabs, it is audio only avatar much more cheap. Even you can use it for free, using the browser voice synthesis.
Just to mention that I am working on integration with another video avatar API – simli.com as an alternative to HeyGen.

Thank you for your interest in LiveSmart! I think it can be done. Actually you can check your request right like this:
- go to https://www.new-dev.com/videoai and login with demo/demo. Create a new avatar and in the Room Settings tab, in the Chat textfield addd a prompt for your avatar to follow. I.e. “You are an interviewer for this IT company for the role of Senior developer. When visitor enters start by asking about visitor name. Then go on with these questions one by one. Do not ask all the at once, but one by one following and show possible answers.

1) Are there any natural sounding voices? I’ve tested 3 different demos you have and they all sound robotic. I realize this is not in your control, however, I have heard some much better sounding voices with other providers. Are those in the demo from heygen?
2) Is a membership needed on heygen to run the avatar? Are custom avatars available? I couldn’t seem to find options for this, or how many different avatars are currently available.
3) Is the training just a document that’s uploaded with questions/answers?
4) Some of your demos have a small video while others are full screen. Is full screen available for all?

I see in the demo there is the option to choose another voice, but voices don’t load in your demo. I also see there is an option for custom avatars, so you can disregard that question.

1. Yes, there are voices. You can check them when you login to the dashboard and create a new room with demo/demo. Also make sure you choose the correct locale for the voice. If you want the voice to be with native accent choose relevant locale from the dropdown.
2. Yes, you need to create an account. For custom avatars you need a paid membship. Please check the limitations of the free membership from here
3. About the training please check for your options here the FAQ page. There are multiple options including text prompt, using OpenAI assistant, or more advanced option to add custom function, like the demo for weather forecast, booking or image generation.
4. This is an option. For the Page creation page, from Advanced tab, you can choose to use the Content layout or not. Content layout means, that in the main window, you can show some other information, like an image or video.
5. There is a problem with the interactive voices from HeyGen, I added a solution you can check on how to change voices run-time or from the dashboard.

Actually HeyGen are using ElevenLabs and I think there are pretty much voices they offer. For now video avatars are only with HeyGen. But you can use the Audio only avatars with ElevenLabs. Check in the dashboard and create a meeting from the Audio tab.

You can, but not sure it is feasible for streaming avatar. Can you send the avatar ID and a question that your are receiving 10013 avatar not found for this avatar to support@heygen.com or file a question here. They usually are responding quite fast.

1. Yes, you can add specialize avatar per user with a context of previous conversations. You know the AI behind LiveSmart AI Video is OpenAI. So you can do this in a couple of ways: – add different OpenAI accounts per LiveSmart tenants; – add different OpenAI assistants and assign them to different LiveSmart tenants;
2. You can use different knowledgebase based on using different assistants or adding system description to the avatar, or adding a function tools. More information about this can be found here;
3. Sorry, didn’t get this. You can start an audio with the avatar, just by clicking on the mic icon;
4. To use OpenAI API you need to fill in some credits. About pricing and limitations of HeyGen please check this article. You can also bypass HeyGen by using only ElevenLabs. About using the SaaS model of LiveSmart check this article;
5. You can check the release log at the item details page. Last update was a couple of dates ago.

In the backend of your demo I didn’t see a place to add documents for KB or for RAG functionality. Does that exists, to add multiple docs per agent/avatar?
#3: The UI is pretty old school, and it still has a text entry requirement. We just want to tap or click to start AI voice, no text entry. Please check the comment below of current timeline development process. After I finish with LiveSmart Server Video release, will come back to LiveSmart AI Video with other integrations like DeepSeek. Yes, you will need the HeyGen for video avatar, as DeepSeek will be used the same as OpenAI – to provide the AI interaction. If you do not want to use HeyGen, you can still use the voice only avatars from ElevenLabs, or even do not use them and use built-in browser voice synthesis.

I’m confused. HeyGen pricing states 1 credit – 5 min streaming. Their free plan has 10 credits = 50 minutes streaming per month.
Your KB says that the free plan gives ‘5 hours of speech per month’?
And, if I read correctly, you’re using the free API to run your demos?
The OpenAI cost is insignificant. The streaming costs seem significant.
I appreciate you’re not HeyGen, but, can you clarify:
1. How many minutes of streaming per month? (HeyGen says 50 only) 2. How on earth are you running demos for your site on such a free plan?

I will update the documentation as it is not relevant, thank you. HeyGen is changing their prices every month. Yes you can use free plan, but it is very short and no, I am not on a free plan, as my demo is using a lot of credits. I am using Pro plan.

Thank you. I think it will need to be voice only. I would be happy with the text/speech function. Again, the API pricing isn’t clear (not your fault but you’ll know the answer). For ElevenLabs it says (Creator) 100 minutes of ultra-high quality text to speech per month; 55 hours of speech to text in 99 languages via API per month; 250 minutes of Conversational AI with up to 10 concurrent requests. Which of these 3 versions is used in your audio chat, please?
Finally, other than background, how to customise the chat UI (colours, icons etc)

- by adding a description and instructions in avatar attitude field. You can contact me to send you some samples, or login to the dashboard with demo/demo, go to Rooms – AI Avatars and check instructions assigned for different avatars – choose an avatar and go to Room Settings;
- by creating an assistant in your OpenAI dashboard, upload multiple documents with instructions or even company catalogs and assign this assistant to an avatar.
- you can develop highly customizable own functions to extend the possibility of OpenAI by usuing it function calling tool. For example the weather, youtube, booking demos are based on it. For more information on how to do this, you can read the documentation.

Error 404 when you cannot find the room created means that the so called mod for rewriting a request is not enabled or added.
1. if you are on an Apache web server, make sure the .htaccess file is in your main folder and that your mod_rewrite module is on.
2. If you are on a Nginx web server make sure of this
location / {
rewrite ^/(\w+)$ /pages/p.php?short=$1 last;
}
is in your main Nginx configuration file for your server where is 443 server.
