Hi! I have a question regarding the Nearby Places Plugin. Is it possible for when clicking on a category, the list of categories are not changed to the list of places for that category ? I am not interested to see the details for each place in that category list. I just want when I click on bars for example, the map to get updated and the category list to remain where it is.

Thank you! You were working with me to determine (2) things. 1. Why I can’t get custom skin colors to show up despite following your precise instructions. 2. Why the custom map marker is not showing the icon I have assigned as the “featured image” of the page the map is on. I had emailed you my Wordpress dashboard access and all necessary URLs. Thank you very much for your email. I see the custom marker is in place now. I don’t see that the map skin has changed though – that was one of my two issues. Do you see a map skin different from the standard? Yet I do have a custom skin assigned as indicated in my detailed notes in the email. Any final thoughts?

Thank you! You are correct – I am now controlling those styles. The only odd thing I see is that the colors I see when I assign a style are VASTLY different from the demos on your website. I mean completely different – all of them. Any final ideas about that observation? Overall, thanks so much – you have answered all of my concerns for the most part. I was just thrown off by the colors not matching and assuming I was just seeing the default – which was similar to what gowala looks like through this site for some reason – different from the demo for sure though.

Hello I wanted to see if I could bug you for a bit of help. I have a nearby places map set up and working just fine here:
https://www.cathcartsites.com/testsite/neighborhood/local-attractions/and I wish to customize the style of that map. I realized that the initial progress map map settings do not control the style of these nearby places maps (ie. making the map all green).
so I dug in and found the proper short code for this situation for nearby places maps:
[cs_nearby_map map_style=”subtle-green” post_ids=”33”]
you can see that I use this map on just one page and that page is a marker for the center of the map too.
anyhow when I change the short code to denote an INITIAL map style (like terrain) it does change just fine, but for some reason, it will not pick up on the short code for just map style no matter what I put in there from the ending URL of the demo page or if they are all caps or no caps.
can you let me know what I am missing here?

You need to use the other shortcode attribute “initial_map_style”. Here’s how your shortcode should be:
[cs_nearby_map initial_map_style="custom_style" map_style="subtle-green" post_ids="33"]

this is copy/pasted from my code exactly.
I confirmed my changes are getting uploaded and processed by altering the post ID – then reloaded to confirm – then I changed the post ID back to 33.
Also I just realized that although I have my logo added as a featured image in post 33 (which is a page), it is not showing as the icon for my central marker for this map. I have looked everywhere and can’t tell if there is a setting I am missing that turns this on?

Yes the plugin is compatible with Houzez theme but please note that “Nearby Places” is an extension of the plugin “Progress Map”, so you need to have both of them installed in your site.
In order to display the nearby map in the property page, the plugin provides a shortcode for that.
Regarding the cost, I’m afraid you’ll have to address this to Google Assistance service as they’re the ones capable of providing a detailed answer.

I just checked your website. The problem from what i can see is a JS error in your theme. This error is stoping the map and other scripts in your site from working properly. Please contact your theme support about this and ask them to provide a fix to it.
The error is “Uncaught TypeError: $ is not a function at headshrink.js:1” and is located at https://www.regencysl.com/wp-content/themes/rosewoodsv/headshrink.js
This error can also be caused by your cache plugin. Try to deactivate it and try again.

Thank you for checking into this so quickly! I should have mentioned that I did test this without the cache active, but reactivated it since I was not sure you would be so super fast with a reply. I also was seeing the same results with and without the cache turned on, to be accurate.
Anyhow those are surely sound suggestions there and I know all about that headshrink.js. That was my code, which oddly does not generate errors when I use the same code on other sites, but for some reason does for this site even though the JS gets carried out.
However I don’t need that code at all so I just removed it. I also have turned off the cache completely on the site, and cleared my browser cache now and checked the page on several browsers.
The problem still persists though. Can we dig into this further please?

Oh and right now I am running WP 5.7.2, Avada is fully up to date, Progress Map is version 5.6.6 and Nearby Places is 2.6.7. These mapping plugins were recently updated, but there might be newer versions out by now. I can’t tell version numbers from my envato downloads list, but I think I have the latest version.

The “Nearby Places” works only with Google Maps Places. If you want, you can use the plugin “Progress Map” which will allow you to display your listings on the map and will allow your map users to find the closest locations to their position or address using the search tools already included in the plugin.

Please note that there’s a scroll pagination in the nearby palces’ list. You need to scroll down to the end of the list to load more palces. Please try again with the demo and i’m sure you’ll find your nearby drugstores.

I have a presale question. I would like to know if I can insert a map which has liquor stores that display based on the city that I configure it for. I do not want people to be able to have to select liquor stores. They would show up automatically. I also do not want to give them the ability to display other nearby places such as schools, stores, etc. Is this possible? Thanks
