Hive Flare, Social Buddy, Social Paradox, Social Parody, Mighty Networks, Spruz, Webs, Social Go, and many others come to mind when I think of software as a service to name several. But this is the first self hosted idea of its kind that was built with modern frameworks in mind. I’m actually an owner of the original Ning Source Code where this idea was first forged. Back when it was completely free. I’ve been around the web long enough to know that these kind of unique, interest based smaller group collectives really do work as custom web rings. They were in fact, the founding hallmarks of the web 2.0 framework. Whereas web 1.0 largely relied on the web itself in general, as a database of decentralized websites. These days, web 3.0 sites relies largely on two things. Private social spaces and micro management of people, rather than ideas. this is what has created the framework for small business owners online to boom, in an effort to tightly control their own world around others. Perhaps to try to understand the limits of creativity working together as a team, focus or strategy. In any case, this idea has brought me hope that we can return to the freedom of web 2.0 communities within the spirit of web 1.0 visions. Web 4.0 will largely take a few steps back from the trials and tribulations of the dying industry web 3.0 has created in the wake up companies being too focused on lack of customization or input from people as equals. Please, don’t give up on this project. We need you to assist in the admittedly very much needed come back of the influence the internet has brought people together for. I have been looking for years to find this passion in people, developers and creators working together to achieve multi brand, group based interactivity.
