Can I view my social feed or only display my feed?
This is only for global display, like in the live preview, but keep in mind that some social networks, like Instagram, made changes to their API, so now they don’t work with the feed, but you need to upload the images yourself.

Please keep in mind that, as the title says, this is a Javascript item, not a WP one, so it doesn’t need installation or have system requirements. Inside the documentation you’ll find a detailed explanation of how the builder works. Facebook deprecated the previous Instagram API and created a new one called Instagram Basic Display API. For now, this new API doesn’t support implicit oAuth authentication, so it’s impossible to use it with a client side app as this one. We hope that Facebook will release an update that fixes this in the future.
This doesn’t affect server side authentication flows, so our WordPress plugin versions of the Instagram alerts work correctly, you can check them out here:

SocialProof script has something like this, but your script is much more powerful, it’s just missing the acounts and option to install Javascript.

Hi! Just a head’s up! 
Facebook has made changes to the Instagram API (Starting October 15, 2019), deprecating the previous API https://www.instagram.com/developer/, which now doesn’t allow the creation of clients anymore.
Sadly the new “Instagram Basic Display API” (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-basic-display-api/), that replaces the previous one, only allows the creation of short lived access tokens (this means that they expire after one hour: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-basic-display-api/overview#instagram-user-access-tokens).
Since this API is in its early stages it’s possible that they will add a way to get a longer lived access tokens to it, when they do we plan to make an update to the plugin that will make it compatible with it.
We are sorry about this but this is a Facebook issue, and we can do anything about it until Facebook provides a real replacement for the API they deprecated.
In the meantime, we’re working on an update with static versions for the Instagram templates so you can use them even without connecting it.

Hi yrk2yrk, thanks for the interest!
1- The builder comes with a Node server, so you need to have Node installed in order to be able to run it.
2- The app you create with each Social Network let’s you get some credentials that are used for authentication and rate limiting purposes. There is no login, you only need to configure the server to use the credentials and the alerts will use them to get the information for you.
3- Since this is a Node server, you would need to create your own PHP server to integrate it with a PHP application.

If yes, how would they authenticate their social accounts? Do they have to create their own app or authenticate using my app? Or authentication is not required for them?

Hi yrk2yrk,
No, there is no sign up or login, the user is determined through the use of credentials in the Node server. For example, if you want to change the user that the Instagram “Server” type alerts display information from, you will need to change the credentials used in the Node server to be from that user.
This is not true for all the Social Networks, as you can see from using the online version of the builder, though it is using our credentials, you can get public information from other users, for example, with Twitter you can change the user display information for the “Profile Box” template by changing the “Screen Name”. Try it out if you haven’t yet, the same is true for Youtube and Twitch alerts.
In short, some Social Networks like Instagram only will allow you to get information from the account of the user that the credentials belong to, and others, like Twitter, will allow you to display public information and only use the credentials for authentication and rate limiting purpouses.
