Hello, you made for me a special version of your vehicle parts finder on which I can fix the make as default.
I have now 1 problem and questions:
Problem The vehicle parts finder works if I show the page when I am logged in as administrator in backend and view the page but it doesn’t in page normal online still. I think there is a problem with the cache swift performance lite but it does not help If I disable cache for the pages using the vehicle parts finder. I also can not test on my stage version because there I can see my pages in frontend only if I am logged in as administrator.

I can not believe that I should delete each entry in each product.
Question 2 Is it possible that I change to the new version of your plugin to use the category filter too? If I do, do I lose my fixed default_make? Or is it possible in this version to fix the category?

1. As I can see, it resets brand back to first one after every selection and that’s not how it is supposed to work. Please provide me your website’s FTP and Admin details so that I can check for the reason and fix it. You can send me these details at wpinstinct@gmail.com
2. You can delete all entries by clicking on “Delete All Terms” button while you are on VPF terms list page in backend.
3. I think your customized plugin also has category filter and you just need to enable it through Shortcode/Widget. I will check for it once you share your website details with me.

I need to upload a large amount of product items to my product pages is there a faster way to do that then in the selection process through manually selecting each year make model and engine selection in the section provided on my specific product page one at a time.

You can upload terms in bulk using CSV Importer from plugin menu in backend. While you go to terms import screen, you will find a link to download sample CSV file. Ready your CSV file in same format and upload it.
In same CSV file, you will find fifth column ‘item_product’ where you can add comma separated multiple product SKU’s which will auto assign whole row based terms to those matching products.
Give it a try with 3-4 rows first before you import a complete CSV file. Once everything seems to work fine, only then go with full list of terms.

I am trying to contact you for the 3rd time , on my site when i try to put more year make models it removes the previoslly added year make model from the product
for example i have list a priduct with 100 years make and models once i add the 101 it deletes the previos

There is no such limit to add terms but if it happens for you, then please check the value of max_input_vars on your hosting server configuration. Its value normally remains 999 so change it to higher one ( eg: 5000 ) and see if it helps. You can request your hosting support for this if you don’t know about how to increase it.

If I am correct, you want to hide empty categories from sidebar menu once one perform a search through this plugin. For this, as I said I would require your server’s access ( FTP and Admin ) so that I can do it directly there. This custom code depends on how a theme shows those categories in sidebar so I wouldn’t be able to share correct code until I have website URL and server’s access.

I’m trying to restrict the plugin to options for the make to only Subaru but even when I upload only Subaru and delete all the terms that aren’t Subaru, it still shows them as options in the dropdown. Not sure what to do.

Let me know if you are trying to delete other terms through CSV file! This is something my CSV Importer tool doesn’t do. You have to delete all terms from “VPF Terms” page in backend panel first and then upload CSV file which contains Subaru terms only.

Would I just go into the cpanel and delete them there or do I need to go into the database?
While you login WordPress backend panel of your website, and go to “VPF Terms” page from left sidebar, you will find a button saying “Delete All VPF Terms”. Click on it and it should delete all the existing VPF Terms and their relations with WooCommerce Products. Thanks!

How can I automatically mark products as universal when they do not have a YMM term? I have about 3,000 products and a big portion are universal products.

I want them to be shown if they do not have any YMM terms assigned.
For example, I have an auto parts store and some of the light bars products are not vehicle specific so they would be universal. Same goes for apparel clothing, I still want those products to show up when a customers searches for their YMM.
Also I’m having problems importing my .csv. I have the headers correctly, I’m not sure if its too many rows to import at once or I need to split them into different files. There are about 9000 rows of YMM that I need to import.
Our site is hosted in Site Ground and I’m getting a 504 – Gateway Timeout, same thing if I upload the file to FTP first.
It would require some custom work in order to let it work in the way you want for universal products. Provide me your website’s FTP and Admin details so that I can try it on your server. However, you will not be able to update it anymore for future versions.
For CSV import, this issue normally remains with server configuration. Just increase max_execution_time and memory_limit values of your server and try it again. If you still see the error, then provide me your CSV file and admin details at wpinstinct@gmail.com and I will give it a try for you.

You can disable last level of my plugin which is engines. Next, change the label of third dropdown from years to engines. So not a direct way but still you can disable years by following above approach.

Hi. I’m working on a client’s website that is using this plugin and it doesn’t seem to work properly. The keyword is being passed through to the search page but if I don’t have a keyword and just use the dropdown menus none of the options I’m selecting are being passed through to the search page. It just goes through like so: search-results/?q= – so when I get to the search page ALL of the products are showing.
How do I fix this? Thanks.
So I’ve narrowed down the problem. If I disable the keywords text box then when someone searches using the dropdowns it works fine, but when I enable the keyword text box again the variables in the dropdown menu aren’t passed to the search page. It’s like when the keywords text box is added all the dropdowns become redundant. Is there anyway around this?
Also, with the validation, is it possible to make it so that a user has to use at least one of the dropdowns for the search to work. I see there are validation options but they’re for each specific dropdown, I just want it so that a user has to choose at least one for it to work without knowing which one. Thanks.

1. Sounds like you are using a plugin which is relevant to WooCommerce search and that plugin seems to conflict with mine one. Can you please test by disabling plugins one by one on your staging server ( make sure you keep a backup of website before it ) and see which one causes this conflict.
2. As all the dropdowns are dependent to previous dropdowns so one can’t select second dropdown until select any term from first dropdown. Same way wouldn’t be able to select third dropdown until select a term from second dropdown. In other words, user can’t select further dropdowns until selecting first one then why don’t you simply add a validation for first dropdown only.

1. You can add years in range in single CSV columns such as: 2001-2008 and it will auto make all possible combinations of current row with all years from that specific range. In start, import a CSV file wih only a few rows just to make sure that it works correctly for you and after that only import complete file.
2. You can download sample CSV file from backend yourself too while you are on CSV Import page.
