I want to ask, upon update if I have hardcoded translations, not from the translation file, will they be replaced? Also will homepage images be reverted back to default upon the update?
Hello WhosDat,
As covered in the https://lunatio.com/phpanalytics/documentation#update – your custom changes will be lost upon updating the software – for that reason, we recommend backing up your changes and restoring them once the update is complete.

Lunatio.
A couple of questions if I may:
Has an average time on site metric been added, or will use?
And can you access the analytics data in a secondary tool, like Looker Studio?
Cheers
Hello Leighlo,
1. This has not been added yet.
2. Never used Looker Studio, but if they can retrieve data from a RESTful API, then I don’t see why you couldn’t use it with that.
For more details about our RESTful API, see: https://phpanalytics.lunatio.com/developers

The script is very interesting but until it will be able to monitor individual traffic, namely there is no difference between “Visitors” vs “Page Views” they are two similar things. It is very important to see how many unique users / day we have on the site. Unfortunately for me, due to this problem, almost all the visitors left my website and I offered the full and free service, I don’t know who would pay for something like that. The reason that if this service were accessible (unique visitors|) would violate the GDPR is not plausible as long as the site itself processes personal data such as the e-mail address. If i click the website for 10 times it tells me that i have 10 visitors wich is not good.
Hello Don3,
There is a difference between the Visitors and Pageviews. Namely, a visitor represents a page load of your website through direct access, or through a referrer. Subsequent visits from that session will not count as a new visit, only as a pageview. But indeed, if you re-open the website in a different tab, with no internal referrer, the user will be counted as a new visitor, that’s just the way it currently works, and has been explained in more detail here: https://codecanyon.net/comments/27400171
The requirement to not add any cookie notification, and GDPR compliancy is for the Webmasters and Visitors of the monitored (tracked) websites.
In other words, Webmasters that will use your service, will have no obligation put up any banners regarding the tracking of their users, cookie law, or other similar annoying banners, as the information stored will contain no identifiable data points, and all the data is decentralized when stored. Additionally, you – as the Administrator of phpAnalytics, will also have no obligation and regulation regarding the data stored about the tracked visitors (e.g: if a visitor of a website that’s monitored using your phpAnalytics service contacts you and asks you to provide him with the data you stored about him, you’ll have no obligation to provide him with such data, since you haven’t stored any identifiable data about him (IPs, fingerprints, cookies, etc.)).
Of course phpAnalytics collects the email, and other personal information, but that’s for the Webmaster of the website, not for the visitors of the tracked websites. For that, phpAnalytics itself is fully compliant as all the data stored is visible to the Webmaster, and the Webmaster has the option to terminate his account at any point.
For this reason, our system works the way it does. I understand that it’s not the most accurate tracking mechanism for unique visits (pageviews are completely accurate), but it’s worth the trade for those who want a truly privacy focused analytics tool.
I’d like to add that I’m still exploring alternatives, most recently this tracking mechanism: https://notes.normally.com/cookieless-unique-visitor-counts/ – and while this mechanism will allow us to better detect unique visits (still no 100% accurate, but very close, given that users are very unlikely to use different browsers to visit your website), and it does indeed skip the fingerprinting part of the GDPR, it would still require a “Cookie” banner for Analytics, as it will use a Header to store historic information about the user’s visit for the current session, which is a let down from the current system.
Hopefully this clarifies your concerns.

Lunatio.
i use this script for my website https://www.sitemeter.org and i get best result, i recommended this script for other web authors.
Hello mr_gb,
Your website appears to work just fine, is it safe to assume you’ve figured it out?
Regards,
Lunatio.
I just realized that it works when I use my personal data, but when I am on wifi, it no longer works, and I am told site inaccessible when I want to connect. what is the problem, please ?
Hello mr_gb,
That’s an issue with your internet connection and / or between your ISP and your server, not with our software.

Hello,
I have a pre-purchase question on the installation.
I have 2 separate webhostings.
On “domain.com” there is main wordpress web.
On subdomain “m.domain.com” I have also wordpress with email marketing plugin.
On subdomain “m.domain.com” wordpress is in root in folder “www”.
Is there any way how to have your app phpAnalytics available at this address “m.domain.com/analytics”?
Thank you.
Hello davidki11,
Sorry for the delay, I was on a holiday. It’s not possible to have it in a subfolder. You could install it on another subdomain instead, such as “a.domain.com” (from analytics), or “s.domain.com” (from stats) for example.

Lunatio.
Hello,
It is about a year now when I ask if there is a way, how to set data retention period. Lets say 1 month, 2 months, ..., 12 months?
Have you made any progress on this? Is this functionality already here?
I miss this one feature to buy your app.
Thank you.
Hello davidki11,
Sorry for the delay. It hasn’t been implemented just yet, however it is still something that I’m considering looking into. If you know any service that provides temporary data retention with plans, feel free to email it to me, as I’d like to see how they handle the data once the plan expires (does the data gets removed immediately, or there is a grace period of X days).
Regards,
Lunatio.
Hello davidki11,
Quick update on this matter. At this point I can confirm that the next phpAnalytics update will have Data Retention feature as a plan option. Thank you for your feedback.
Regards,
Lunatio.
How does the events feature work? What is it used for and how do I set it up? There is no documentation on this feature
Hello mmhsvg,
We’ve provided a response on this matter at: https://codecanyon.net/comments/30858075

you can add payment nowpayments.io please ?
It shows what you would use in real time.
Hello jhan07,
It shows which pages are accessed in real time, have a look at: https://phpanalytics.lunatio.com/phpanalytics.lunatio.com/realtime – if you open any other page in a new tab while on this page, you should see your pageview in real time.

Is there a way to keep the database stats if we re install it to fix some issues.
Hello searkweather,
Yes, that’s definitely possible. First, export a backup of your current database. Then do a clean re-installation of phpAnalytics. Once it’s installed, empty your current database and import the database that you’ve backed-up. Once you’re done, you may want to run the /update path to see if there are any pending updates.
Also, don’t forget to do a complete backup of your current server, just in case you do something wrong during this procedure.
Regards,
Lunatio.
Awesome. I know I’m having an issue where it’s not showing the logo and I have stats with my tracking code that I want to make sure are able to be migrated to a new db for the updated software.
Hello searkweather,
Simply reupload your logo after you re-import the old database, and you should be good to go.

Lunatio.
Does your script track download links? For instance, I would like to track every single download of every single PDF, XLS, DOCX, etc, file on my website and keep a record and stats. Is that possible?
Hello geekaboo,
Yes, you can track events such as Downloads, Sales, Views, etc., however it requires you to have basic javascript knowledge in order to call the JS function that tracks the event.
If you login on the demo, go to the Events tab on the Stats page, you can click on the “Event code” on the top right corner for more details on how you can use this code: https://i.imgur.com/Ivdi64B.png

I have a question: Can (could) differentiate/detect a Visit via proxy or VPN IP Direct (aka Bot Traffic IVT), compared to a Direct Visit via ISP Genuine IP Provider (aka. Real traffic – organic or paid). Thank you!
Hello ai-world,
Sorry for the delay. No, that’s not possible – unless the said visit is using a specific User-Agent that calls itself to be a proxy (which I doubt there is), nor do we have a filter in place for such cases.
Is there a specific use case for this? Because I wasn’t able to find any service that would provide such information.

Both regular and extended versions have same features?
Hello mmhsvg,
The Extended license grants you access to the Payments module (this includes Plans, Payments, Invoices, Tax Rates, Coupons), otherwise both licenses have the same features.

Hello developer! I have a few pre-purchase questions:
1) I live in Brazil, in my country it is mandatory to have a banner on the website to access Cookies. My question is: using this platform to analyze website traffic and not using the Cookies acceptance banner, could this harm me in any way?
2) If I use this platform and do not add the Cookies banner to my website, will this not harm advertising on Google Ads and other advertising platforms?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Hello corrinhasoares31,
1. People using this platform to track their website visitors do not need to show a cookie modal, because we’re not using any cookies to track people
.
2. The platform itself uses essential / preferences cookies only, and we do have a banner for it, if you want to set it up, however it is not mandatory.

Is there a way to change default profile photo on users as gravatar is not nice and users cant upload a profile photo
Hello pedroferro,
Yes, that is possible with a small change.
Go to /app/Helpers/format.php
and change:
&d='.$default.'
to
&d='.urlencode('https://your.new/image/url.png').'
Perhaps we should make this a database option, so that this can be defined in the admin panel. I’ll add this on the suggestions list.
Please note that this image will be displayed to all users that do not have an image uploaded on gravatar. Those with an image on gravatar will be shown their image.
L.E. Corrected my response.

Why I get the same id for every domain? I add 5 domains then get the same id So all visiters are sent to the same domain.
Hello sabaiydevtech,
That’s correct. The tracking code is the same for every website. It’s impossible to have all the visitors from those tracking codes sent to a single domain, because that’s not how our tracking system detects from where the tracking request comes from.

Lunatio.
Hello Lunatio -
How to purchase the extended license upgrade? Currently have regular but want to credit to the extended license upgrade for more features.
Thank You.
Hello Lunatio! 1 – which events I can track? F.e. on kfc.by website? 2 – what happend with you AI product?
Hello JohnRoot,
Sorry for the delay.
1. You can track any event you’d like. For example a sale, a button click, or anything else for that matter. If you login on the demo, go to the Events tab on the Stats pages, you can click on the “Event code” on the top right corner for more details on how you can use this code: https://i.imgur.com/Ivdi64B.png
2. It is currently disabled and have no plans to reinstate it at the moment.

Lunatio.

Hello JulienKing,
Thank you for your feedback, I’ll add this on the suggestions list.
