The license activation of the WP-AMP plugin has some major scaling issues that the developer refuses to fix because "it works on my local computer." It causes my site to crash.

1. It's set to phone home to their website to check the validity of your license twice a day. That's probably too often.
2. The code of the file sets the process to run indefinitely (meaning it will take as long as it takes and won't just timeout gracefully)
3. It's using curl's default timeouts. Those usually vary between 1 minute and 5 minutes depending on which timeout is tripped so that would explain the long timeline if things aren't working perfectly
4. The process is dependent not just on their site running fast for the license check but also on a 3rd party's site running fast to report the site's IP address in the event that the plugin can't figure it out on its own
5. As best I can tell, there is no graceful degradation built into the code of that license checker. I would at least expect lower timeouts on the curl calls, but they could probably cache the IP of the site for long periods of time without phoning home to some other website that isn't theirs to determine the IP. There are probably other more efficient coding routes that they could be using as well. Usually you blend changes to frequency with caching, and proper timeouts and alternative routes for when things aren't running properly. Like if the site that reports the IP of the site that they've integrated with is running slow, just bail out and check things out later instead of just refiring or continually running the process. Point being, the way this plugin is coded is going to do pretty much exactly what we're talking about if anything outside of your site is not running ideally for one reason or another. The hosting really wouldn't matter at all. The plugin is coded in a way that would lock up any hosting. It's a bit of a PHP coding with 3rd party 101 type of thing that we're seeing that they have NOT done here.

Overall this is an excellent plugin, it's an easy way to implement AMP in your Woo shop without coding. I would highly recommend it for shop owners who do not have the necessary skills to code AMP into their site.

Notable Features
-Ability to redirect all mobile traffic to AMP.
-You can enable/disable amp on specific archive/post pages.
-You can enable/disable amp on specific product pages. This is a handy feature if some of your products use incompatible scripts/plugins
-Easy customisation of the look of your site. Takes minutes to get your amp pages on brand.
-Enable/disable each element on your product page and adjust their position on the page.

Fixes Needed
-If you have more than one product image (carousel), your images will default to 16:9 with no option to change. My images are 1:1 and appear very small.
-The html editor uses the standard Wordpress text editor with the visual/text tabs. If you accidentally open and save your page with the visual tab open, your html will be lost.

Overall, great plugin, with a few fixes it would be 5*.

In my web MejoresPáginas.es we are pleasantly surprised with the result of this addition, and probably implement it in the hundred of customers we have, we bet on its quality and amazing results.

Great plugin and excellent support. Fairly easy to customize and adjust with additional css.
Only downfall is inability to export settings or support for forms. Hoping there will be a Gravity Form integration to it in the future or maybe a link to an internal page with just the form.

Почему 4 звезды а не 5?
Просто в нем есть несколько совершенно нелогичных моментов, которые ограничивают его применение, даже непонятно, почему они не реализованы.

1) нет возможности исключить какие-то теги на странице.
например, у меня плагин шорткодов использует тег . Я не могу его убрать из страницы. В итоге AMP страницы с этим шорткодом не проходят верификацию в Google

В похожем плагине Яндекс.Турбо, который делае турбо страницы для российского поисковика Яндекс, есть специальный раздел "Фильтр", где можно выкинуть из кода любые шорткоды, теги и т.п. Пример: http://prntscr.com/ms624y

Почему нельзя аналогично реализовать было тут, непонятно.

2) Шрифты
Почему я не могу просто задать свой шрифт? Например, мне нужен Arial, в списке его нет. Максимально близкий - open sans, но arial или другой системный шрифт уже не подтягивается.

3) и наиболее важное - почему в пункте "шаблоны" нельзя просто сделать копию подпунктов? Например, скопировать Breadcrumps и добавить его не только вверх, но и вниз. Можно только тягать туда-сюда, а скопировать нельзя. Хотя это дало бы в плане функциональности большие возможности.

Так что плагин хороший, но не до конца продуман. Надеюсь, в будущих релизах чем-то порадуют разработчики.
