The plugin isn’t finding my videos! What now?
Verify you’ve told Video Link Checker to look in the right place for videos. Some themes will store the video in custom meta fields (Avada, Newspaper, Goodwork, Enfold, Sahifa, SimpleMag, True Mag, Valenti, VideoTube, and Video Member to name a few) so specify those in the Search custom meta fields scan option. If you don’t know your theme’s custom meta fields for videos, you can put ‘any’.
What is the difference between YouTube status DELETED and NOT FOUND?
When a user deletes a video, the video status changes to DELETED. After an unspecified amount of time (YouTube does not say) the video is completely removed and will be NOT FOUND by the API.
Why does the plugin report a private YouTube video as NOT FOUND?
The YouTube API does not return any information on private videos if you are not the owner, so it is NOT FOUND.
Why does the plugin report a valid DailyMotion video as NOT FOUND?
It’s likely the video has been flagged as spam by DailyMotion, and the API will not include it in results. You can contact their support to verify.
Why am I not receiving email reports?
Mail services like Yahoo use the SpamHaus project to filter out spam, and your server IP may have found its way on the list. Lookup your IP address here. In my case, my server was not properly configured and HELO’ing as “localhost.localdomain” which violates the relevant standards (specifically: RFC5321).
Why is the script timing out?
When php is being run via mod_fcgid or mod_fastcgi or a fastcgi process manager like php-fpm then the running environment will have its own time restrictions on the script, and the script will not be able to extend it’s max execution time as needed as when running mod_php. In those cases, you’ll have to edit the mod configuration files and extend the time restrictions manually.
What is the error “Failed to connect to 2607:f8b0:4000:80a::200a: Network is unreachable” ?
Your server was unable to connect to the remote API to make a query. It could either be a problem on your server or the remote API. Try copy/pasting the url given into your local browser. If it works, the issue is with your server. If it doesn’t work, the issue is with the remote API. Either way it might be temporary so try again in a few minutes before looking further.
