1. Is your (standalone and WP plugin) code totally free from third-party dependencies, it be webservices or libraries? (No leaks?...... user privacy is really important to us)

2. Am I allowed to buy only one regular license, and use it for all subdomains of a same company’s “website”? (that is, use it for www.mycompany.com, mail.mycompany.com and chat.mycompany.com at the same time, with one license, all sites being free and from the same company)

3. Does it record user keyboard inputs and passwords? Like, what they’re typing in..

  1. The script stores everything internally. There are, of course, libraries used locally to display and process data (heatmap.js, jQuery), but those are included from your own server too. The only third-party services used are one to get the IP address of the current user and another one, on the admin-panel to get the country for a specific IP address. I am currently looking into dropping the ip2location service and including a local database for IP locations, but this is not a priority as calling the ip2location IP is done server-side so no extra data for the clients would be leaked.

    The WebService to get the IP is this one: L2.io

  2. You can buy one license and even track multiple sites as long as the people viewing the userTrack panel do not pay for having userTrack access. In other words, regular license is fine for everything as long as you do not charge people in any way to access the userTrack interface.
  3. It records keyboard input, but recording is disabled on password inputs. Also you can add the class noRecord to any form input which you do not want to be tracked. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Got a problem when tracking a non SSL site (http://www.tracked-domain.com) by my installation on a SSL host (https://www.tracking-domain.com).

Tracker is included on http://www.tracked-domain.com ”<script src=”https://www.tracking-domain.com/mypath/plugins/wp-usertrack/userTrack/tracker.js”></script>”

but on the tracked (non-SSL) domain I got some errors:

“XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://www.tracking-domain.com/mypath/plugins/wp-usertrack/userTrack/helpers/clearPartial.php. Redirect from ‘http://www.tracking-domain.com/mypath/plugins/wp-usertrack/userTrack/helpers/clearPartial.php' to ‘https://www.tracking-domain.com/mypath/plugins/wp-usertrack/userTrack/helpers/clearPartial.php' has been blocked by CORS policy: No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. Origin ‘http://www.tracking-domain.com' is therefore not allowed access.”

I´m a little bit cofused about the http -> https redirect…CORS seems to be enabled in “clearPartial.php”, as far as I can see.

Any idea?

Make sure the server path in the userTrack settings is set with https:// in front, not only with // as it seems that for some reason the redirect from http to https is failing.

No problem. I just realized that the auto-setup should add https:// instead of // if the dashboard is on SSL. As for now, it just uses ”//” and if the tracker is included on a HTTP site the redirects should work, but apparently redirects don’t always work.

Yes, that code should be added (before the end of the body tag preferably). Makes sure you also have jQuery included before that tracker.js script. Also, did you add the domain name you want to track in your userTrack dashboard?

Hello, I have some questions about your warning that the script isn’t suited for highly-trafficked websites.

1) Does the performance impact affect users, or only admins trying to view the admin panel?

2) What do you define as “highly-trafficked”?

3) What are typical server specs that would be appropriate for a specific amount of traffic?

I have received no e-mail, maybe it got into spam and I accidentally deleted it.

The two scripts are very similar, the only real difference is the way they are installed. If you already installed the stand-alone version there’s not really any reason to make the change.

If you still want to change it, you will have to ask for a refund for this version and purchase the WordPress version.

I’m glad you figured that out. If a page does not have the tracker on it userTrack can’t access the contents of the iframe that displays that page. I should probably add a warning with: “tracker not included on this page!”.

Nice plugin, I am planing to purchase it, but few questions i want to ask before proceeding,

Can we make it as a SAAS application and provide separate logins to each clients on their usage? like google analytics they will one-time registrar on our website and add the tracking code so that they can come to our Saas website and check for the stats, so is it possible ?

If the users are charged for your software you can by purchasing the extended license.

UserTrack was not created to be used as a SaaS and while you can create multiple users there is no automated way to create users or set certain limits for users from a distinct dashboard. Also, I created userTrack specially to be used directly by webmasters who don’t want to use a service.

TL;DR: You can if you purchase the extended license but I do not remember it.

HI Cristy, thanks for your prompt response, would you please let me know more details about the extent version? since the goal is to make it like heatmap or crazy egg Saas, so to charge a ongoing monthly subscription from the users by providing a dashboard to the users, so if this is possible then would you please guide me further?

Yes it is posssible. The extended license is so you can use userTrack to create a product for which users are charged for. You can find out more about the licenses from Envato.

You will have to customize the script to fit your needs and by altering the source code you might have some conflics when trying to update to a new usrTrack version (so it does not overwrite your customizations). This is another reason why I do not suggest using userTrack as a service.

The error ‘could not find driver’ always comes up when connecting to the database. Any solution for this?

This usually means that you don’t have the pdo_mysql extension enabled as required. Either change php.ini yourself (if you have access to that) or look for the option in cPanel to enable it. If you still don’t find it try contacting your hosting company. Try creating a phpinfo() file and see if pdo_mysql shows as enabled.

I am receiving crazy amount of intrusion attack email.

I normally receive 1 – 2 per day.

But 1 hour after installing your plugin.

I receive almost 100 in 5 mins.

Luckily i have anti-intrusion plugin installed.

How can i prevent this ?

I think this is a false alert by your WP Site Guardian plugin. I can’t tell for sure, but userTrack should not trigger any alerts for normal usage.

I think the only case you should receive an alert is when someone is intentionally trying to DDOS your site (which he could do with or without using userTrack). Can you see from which IP address did the alert occur or if there are multiple IP addresses?

Good-Day, I just purchased your plugin and I checked the updatelog and it shows 2.0.3 is latest. I checked on my panel and it shows 2.0.1 is the latest uploaded on Codecanyon.

How can I get the latest version?

Hello Sebastian,

It seems that the request is sent to localhost, this means that the serverPath is not correctly set. Try clicking “run auto-setup” in the bottom right corner of the userTrack dashboard or, if that is not fixing the problem, try manually editing tracker.js and setting the serverPath variable to lead to your userTrack panel.

Also, if you have a caching plugin make sure the tracker.js file is updated in the cache (or simply clear your site cache)..

I want to install on multiple domains and want to hide server URL footprint which appears in the Javascript code in all websites. Example: https://piwik.org/faq/how-to/faq_132/

Unfortunately userTrack does not have implemented any proxy script yet (that you can place on each tracked websites to privately forward requests to userTrack). While this might be a good solution, if you have many visitors then each of your sites will have to both receive & forward each data request when using a proxy (which is a pretty big load for each tracked website). If not using a proxy, the tracked website server has zero extra load, but with the proxy it has almost the same load as the tracking server, thus eliminating most advantages of having a single (more powerful) server for tracking the data.

So, although this might be a good privacy option, currently there is no support for it with userTrack and probably won’t be implemented in the near future.

I get black text on my site, I can’t login using the logins provided – It just refreshes the page and resets cookie default of admin passwords etc

Did you add the domain name to your admin user? Even with the WordPress version you can track multiple domains so you have to add those that you want to track.

Hi Cristy, yes I forgot to do that. Will you add a line about that to the install doc. And I suggest changing the G in Globals.css to a lower case g in the download file. Thanks for getting back so quick. Working perfect now. Vincent

I noticed that, it’s a bug in the publishing script that for some reason always changes globals.css to Globals.css. I will try to find the bug cause and fix it so it will no longer rename the file.

PS: A new update was submitted for the standalone version. Heatmaps improvements are coming :)
