What can this plugin do for me?

UPME is much more than just a User Profiles plugin, with it you can:

  • Add elegant User Profiles on the front end themed pages of your WordPress site
  • Create a beautiful, responsive, paginated members list/directory
  • Allow admins and profile owners to edit their profiles on the front end
  • Add custom fields to profiles (Country, city, company name, HTML, dropdown, etc.)
  • Add custom fields to the registration/signup form
  • Replace existing WP login with front end login
  • Replace existing WP registration with front end registration
  • Block access to backend profiles optionally
  • Searchable profiles
  • Add ‘Private’ fields to users which are only visible by admins
  • Use UPME profiles as your author box on posts or pages

And much, much more!

How can I access list of the possible shortcodes I can use with this plugin?

There is a shortcode generator menu in your Visual Editor (It has the UPME icon) Open it and you will see many shortcode options available to you without any coding.

Our demo site also shows the shortcodes used on each page.

Which shortcode should I use to show user his own profile/edit profile on the front end?

Place this shortcode anywhere on your content.

That is the simplest form. It will let your logged in users manage and edit their profiles, also admins can view and edit profiles from the front end.

How can I display all user profiles in the front end?

The shortcode you need to use is:

[upme group=all]

That shortcode will display all user profiles in the front end.

How can I turn on Compact Profile in my shortcode to display only compact information about the user?

You need to use the shortcode option view and set it to compact for this. This option is very good If you want a quick promote to a user profile, or display long list of profiles and need more room.

[upme group=all view=compact]

How can I show the profile of post author?

Here is an example that will display the profile of author of post.

[upme id=author]

Can I use UPME shortcodes in my templates using PHP code?

Sure! The UPME can be used with PHP besides shortcodes in post/page/sidebar. The syntax is very familiar and has the same options you would use via shortcode.

Here is an example of displaying the logged in user profile with PHP:

global $upme;
echo $upme->display();

You can also use the following PHP code to execute any shortcode with options:

<?php echo do_shortcode("[shortcode_here]"); ?>

How can I replace my custom author box with the elegant user profile by UPME in Author archive template?

You can edit your author template and use the following code to automatically show author’s profile.

global $upme;
echo $upme->display('id='.get_query_var('author'));

echo $upme->search();

How can I enable automatic paginations links when displaying all profiles?

You need to add an additional shortcode parameter which is users_per_page to your shortcode.

The option lets you freely set how many users per page you want for each page of users. Here is example:

[upme group=all view=compact width=2 users_per_page=8]
(Live Example)

Or using PHP integration:

global $upme;
echo $upme->display('group=all&view=compact&width=2&users_per_page=8');

Problem: The styling looks a bit odd when I use the shortcodes / UPME in sidebar. How can I resolve that?

You need to use the use_in_sidebar shortcode option If you are including any of UPME widgets in sidebar.

For example, in sidebar you could use this:

[upme use_in_sidebar=yes]

That will fix any styling issues in sidebar and make it look perfect.

Problem: I have some compatibility issues, or some javascript not functioning.

Please update to latest version (make sure you always use the up-to-date version). If you need to verify the latest version, please see the changelog at the bottom of the item description on CodeCanyon.

In some cases, theme authors may use non-standard coding practices which can break WordPress plugins, such as loading older versions of jQuery instead of using the built in WordPress jQuery scripts, or running jQuery withotu no-conflict mode.

These themes will cause problems with UPME and also with a great number of other plugins. In these cases the theme author should be contacted to resolve the issues by either updating their scripts or properly using the built in WordPress scripts.

If the conflict is something we can resolve inside UPME, we are happy to do it.

Please submit a topic in our support forum with your conflicts if it looks like something that can be fixed inside UPME.

How can I export or import users with all custom field data?

UPME uses standard WordPress user meta fields to store the data from custom fields. This means you can use any of the numerous existing user export/import plugins which support user meta data.

I have some ideas that can improve this plugin.

Please post them on our support forum with [Feature Request] in the subject.

We are actively seeking ways to improve UPME and read/listen to all suggestions.

Does UPME include Social Login/Registration (Facebook, Twitter etc.) features?

No, UPME does not currently include social login/registration, however you may use UPME alongside a social login/registration plugin.

What sort / ordering options are available for the member list?

Ordering of member list is handled by two shortcode options: order, orderby

Possible values for order: asc, desc

Possible values for orderby: ID, login, nicename, email, url, registered, display_name, post_count

[upme group=all order=desc orderby=post_count]
[upme group=all order=asc orderby=registered]
