Hi Aqusag,

Sorry to hear you give a 2-star rating for bugs. However, you mention UM-switcher is not all that easy to use.

You've bought our product at the end of Oktober '17. As far as we can see here on Codecanyon, our our Themedutch support forum / ticketsystem you did not requested any kind of support?

if you have indeed not asked for support first, please reconsider your rating, and ask for support first.

Kind regards,
Helen

for Customer Support

Hi, I am a developer and purchased the plugin a few days ago and have been trying to contact the support, but the site is off-line and there's not clear answer to this problem:

When testing it with Woocommerce I noticed that the user role is being changed BEFORE the actual payment if confirmed, actually, it's being changed right after the UM-Switch data is inserted into their custom table.
In my case and any other cases where you're selling digital products (for download), you will have a big problem because the user will have access to the content (right after he's got his level changed before the order/payment is confirmed).

I didn't spend much time inspecting the code and am not sure if this has something to do with the problem, but, checking the code, I've found this:

(file refresh_cron_job.php, line 375):

...
}else{
if($order_status == 'wc-completed' || $order_status == 'wc-on-hold'){
um_fetch_user( $user_id );
$ultimatemember->user->set_role($loop['selectbefore']);
}else{
um_fetch_user( $user_id );
$ultimatemember->user->set_role($loop['selectbefore']);
}
}

I might not be seeing this correctly, and please let me know if I am wrong, but what's the poing of having a if/else statement with the exact same logic inside each of them?

In terms of WordPress plugin development, I also think you should consider developing using WordPress Code Standards, which in my opinion it should be the basics for selling anything.

For the facts the site is offline and I can't even file a ticket for the problem, for the problem itself I just described and for the not usual if/else logic (which led me to thinking there could be something wrong with the code), I am giving this a poor review, unfortunately this is the experience I am having now and will definitely write a better one if there's a clear explanation or response for all I mentioned in here.
Thanks for understanding.

Hi Roosalles,

It’s the first time we’ve received a low rating because our site supposed to be down and we weren’t even given the ability to respond to a support question via the UM-switcher blog on Codecanyon, our through our own website’s forums and ticket system.

We receive 24/7 notifications if something is wrong with one of our business websites and on November 10 (when you bought our product) none of our websites was down. So, we think, in your case there must be some kind of misunderstanding?

You’re always able to post a question via the UM-switcher blog on Codecanyon. And our support staff is happy to help customers through our support forum via https://theme-dutch.com/forum/um-switcher/ or through our ticket system via https://theme-dutch.com/ HELPDESK.`

Cheers,

I tried to edit my previous review but was unable, so I'm responding to the author in a second review.

Hopefully you can tell from their response what kind of support you'll get when you open a ticket. They originally offered to look around if I granted FTP access. Life got in the way and I was delayed opening the ticket, apparently there is a limited time in which they'll follow through with what they offer, who knows.

I see errors in the um switcher cron job code when I run it, the config object doesn't exist even when I filled out the form needed. They refuse to even do the basic investigation which they offered to do in the first place. Instead they accuse me of doing something wrong and "demanding" that they look into it. I was simply doing as asked and expected that they would follow through with what was offered.

The abusive comments just keep on coming, even in this forum where it's visible to all the world. Calling me an "Opinionated customer" who assumes it's a bug. I'm an accomplished software developer with 15 years programming experience and I work on code every day, so I figure I can take an educated guess when things like this go wrong. I understand all about customers with strange bug reports, and I understand that it's not always the code, sometimes it's the user. In their eyes, I'm just an annoyance and their code can't possibly be the issue, but I simply wanted them to take a look and investigate the situation.

I actually had planned on hiring them if we couldn't figure it out together, but now there's little chance of that. If you plan on buying this plugin, I just hope it installs without any issues. Good luck if you have to contact support for anything.

The client posted a an issue about a cronjob error on our Themedutch forum. On September 20, 2017 we asked him to create a ticket so we could have a look at his backend.

Eventually after a month on October 30, the client opens a ticket and he is surprised that we did not remember asking the client to open a ticket and send his information. Because...this is ''not included as standard for support'', and already a month passed since.

Read item policy Codecanyon:

"Authors are not required to support issues about your web hosting or server environment, or issues with the software you’ve got installed on your machine to use the item. Please check your ISP/web hosting provider or other software documentation that you’re trying to use to help solve your issues."

However, In order to find the client's issue we had to check the client's installation, server, cronjob etc. The client was offered to hire us if he wanted us to investigate his problems. The client was convinced that it should be a bug on our end because the client was convinced setting up everything exactly as we instructed and it's not working.
The client did not respond on our offer. And as you can read "He's an accomplished developer with 15 years of experience!

We already had prove the client did not setup everything properly and we needed to search for it.

We are not eager to provide support for free to opinionated customers who assume that if something does not work, it must be a bug of the product in order to prevent paying for additonal costs (for issues that are not included: item support policy codecanyon)

It's a pity that authors are being punished with bad reviews and receive 1-star ratings like this.

I was having some issues with figuring out how to get UM Switcher going, and the Customer Support was quick to respond and very helpful. This plugin is exactly what I needed for my site! Great plugin!
