The jquery plugin is working although the buyer was not able to understand how the plugin works because the lack of basic javascript experience and how the jquery library works.

He was using a custom theme which has different structure from the general example which is given in the documentation I was able to help him with a lot of detailed explanations and he edited his negative review to 4 stars.

The jquery plugin has the ability to decline the cookies.

Please open the clean version of the demo using this link: http://demo.fileheat.net/plugins/jquery/smartcookie/v1.1/ You will see that when you click to accept the cookies in the bottom right corner is shown “Cookie Settings” bar and when you click on it anytime you have the ability to decline the cookies.

But for some reason only when you open the demo with the Envato bar on top when you click to accept the cookies the decline button is not showing (I have not figured out yet why this is happening – this is only happening for the demo when it is opened with the envato bar, there is no problem with the plugin).

When you open the clean demo you will see that everything is working and everything will be working when you use it on your website.

Thank you for your questions. Here are the answers of your questions:

1. Yes, you can use the plugin in a static website

2. It depends how your website is structured. To use the plugin you should include the necessary css and js files in the HEAD section of your website.

3. Once the user clicks on the “accept” button the plugin can be set to minimize the notification(to give the ability of the user to “decline” cookies later if he decides just like in the demo) or hide it at all. When the user reload the same page the plugin will show minimized notification or nothing.

4. After the user “accept” the cookies if the user visits another page if the plugin is set to be minimized the user will see a minimized notification(just like in the demo), if the plugin is set not to use the minimized option nothing will be shown.

The Cookie Consent is just a part of the GDPR. To comply with the law you need to do three things:

1. Let users know that you’re using cookies
2. Provide a link where they can learn more about how you use the data you gather
3. Provide a way for users to consent to the use of cookies

Using SmartCookie jQuery plugin the user is marked using a special cookie after he clicks the “Accept” button, when the user click on the “Accept” button this means that the user has read the “privacy policy” page on your website and that he agrees to the cookie use described there on his device. There is no much difference when you have a “decline” button. When you have a “decline” button, when the user click on the “decline” button the cookie bar message is just minimized somewhere on the screen until the “accept” button is clicked by the user. Using my jquery plugin the cookie message is displayed always until the user clicks on the “accept” button.

Yes, the plugin is displaying properly in the bottom left corner and in bottom right corner as you can see in the demo. You just have to use the value “bottom-left” or “bottom-right” for the parameter position as you can see on the “Live Preview” in the table “Available Options”, there was just a spelling error in the documentation.

- If you want the the plugin to be displayed in the bottom left corner you have to use the parameter(position: “bottom-left”).

- If you want the plugin to be displayed in the bottom right corner you have to use the parameter(position: “bottom-right”).

I prepared update with updated documentation – and now the spelling errors for the values bottom-left and bottom-right are fixed in the documentation and you are able to copy and paste the code in section “Usage” just like you can copy the code in section “Installation”, before that section “Usage” was a screenshot with the snippet.

I am just waiting the update to be approved by CodeCanyon.
