Hi, is it possible for the images to link to external urls rather than just loading a larger version of the image? Best, Frazer

Hi. Sure, that’s possible.

Best,
David

Hello, pre-sale questions. I am interested in the carousel (example 2) of Slider Pro.

Is it possible to enable left-right scrolling with keyboard arrows <- and ->?

Can the height of the scroller be higher (I guess so…)?

Can the text below each slider and the navigation dots be removed?

Thank you.

Hi,

You need to copy that code snippet to the jquery.sliderPro.min.js file (wp-content/plugins/sliderpro/public/assets/js/), after the existing code.

Hello David, thank you for your reply above, and sorry if I did not react immediately.

I tried your suggestion but I could not solve my issue.

Would you mind posting the exact code, or send it to me by mail in private?

Thank you.

Hi,

Please submit a support request on the support portal, and provide some WP and FTP login credentials. I will add the code for you.

My site is running PHP v5.2. Will Slider Pro run with this old version of PHP?

Hi,

Yes, I’ve tested it with PHP 5.2.17 and it’s working fine.

Hello, presales query…first please see ybpcosmetics.com , the first picture with the text and down arrow is what I want to create. Just one picture, with text and and arrow that goes to next section, and responsive so on Desktop full image is shown. On Tablet/Mobile, the sides of the image get cropped, and/or option to load another image for mobile. Also that handles Landscape mode well. Basically I need to make sure Image and Text look good on any device and orientation. But the main thing needs to be speed, I need a fast loading slide…Can your plugin do these things? Please let me know, thanks!

Hello, thanks for the honest info! But the main thing is that when reducing screen width, the sides of the image get cropped, and full height of image is retained. Like I don’t want the original dimensions of the image to be same across different devices…in my picture, the subject is in the middle of the photo and the sides are blank background…would a slider not be the right choice for this functionality?

...also in the future I may want to add other images

If you’re sure you will add more images, then you need a slider, but for just one image, a slider would be overkill.

Can I use this plugin in posts to replace the default native Wordpress [gallery] shortcode with the Slider Pro gallery format?

It appears you can attach all images uploaded to a post. Can you specify which attached post images you’d like to show instead of all images? Can you have multiple sliders within the same post made from selected images uploaded to the post? Or back to my original question, can I activate this plugin and have the default native Wordpress [gallery] shortcodes in my post automatically replaced with the Slider Pro gallery format?

Hi,

It’s possible to load images from a WordPress [gallery] into the slider, but this can’t be done automatically; first, you will need to add the [sliderpro] shortcode in the same page with the [gallery]. However, you can only add a gallery slider per post, because the slider will take all the images from all the galleries you have in the post and load them into a single slider.

David

I am interested in having this feature developed, where you can add a standard [gallery ids=”...”] native shortcode, and the Slider Pro layout takes over, with multiple galleries accepted per page. Can your plugin be further improved to include this functionality? For whatever reason, there are not so many plugins that work off the native [gallery] shortcode, and all of them have limitations. This added functionality would for sure make Slider Pro the best out there.

Thank you for the suggestion! It’s certainly a feature worth considering, but I can’t promise it will be released in the near future.

Is it possible to have thumbnail images in another row?

Hi,

You can’t separate the thumbnails from the slides, unless you create some space between them with CSS.

Hello,

It seems all my sliders have disappeared, they’re not listed anymore. Can it happen after a plugin update? Do you already had this case?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Florence.

Probably because it was a very old version of the plugin.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, we are totally overwhelmed these days.

The 3 tables already exist in the db and they’re not empty: http://i.imgur.com/3YAopOH.jpg

And yes, we have ‘wp_sliderpro_skins’ table but it might have stayed there even after plugin update, long ago, we don’t know. But what I can say is that we deleted the plugin from wp-admin to upload the new version and it left the db tables untouched.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards, Florence.

Hi Florence,

So this means you didn’t actually delete the plugin from the WordPress Admin (Dashboard), you just deleted the plugin folder from wp-content/plugins/. This is very different and easy to fix. You just need to copy the plugin files back in the place, but not the newest version because it will not recognize sliders created with version 3.X and older (this is why it can’t find the sliders on your current installation). You need to copy the version compatible with older versions, which is 3.9.3. You can download it from here. Also, please read this release note.

Hello.

Can you please tell me how to get the images insider my carousel slider to be round..???

I tried this but is not working: .slider-pro img.sp-image {border-radius: 50px !important; }

Thanks in advance.

You’re welcome!

I have another quick question:

How do I make my carousel slider scroll faster…?? (I mean the scroll of the slider from one side to the other.)

Thanks much.

Never mind, I figured it out…:) It was the “Autoplay Delay” setting.

Hello David,

There are a few issues we are experiencing:

First: When we anable the lazy loading option all of the images on the edge of our screen aren’t loading. How can we solve this issue?

Second: Is it possible to assign a second smaller image to a post so that the slider does not have to load alot of big images. If so how do we achieve this?

Third: We are stil experiencing a issue whith the h3 overlay. We like to display these overlays under the images. But when we move these h3 to under the image they simply dissapear. How can we solve this?

Hi Rob,

1. This might be caused by custom CSS applied to the slider’s code elements. I can see that you’ve changed the width of the ‘sp-mask’ element to 90%. I don’t recommend this; instead; you should use only the Width and/or the Visible Width options to set the width of the slider. Also, the ‘Force Size’ is set to ‘Full Width’ which stretches the slider to the full width of the browser. You might want to change this and set the option to ‘None’, since you don’t actually want the slider to be full width.

2. I’m not sure if I understand your question correctly. If you want to use inside the slider a different image than the post’s featured one, you can add the link to the other image in a custom field and then, in the slider, replace [sp_image_src] with [sp_custom.my_image], where ‘my_image’ is the name of the custom field. Also, you can load a different size version of the featured image by specifying the dimension inside the tag: [sp_image_src.thumbnail].

3. You need to increase the height of the ‘sp-mask’ element.

David

Is there a way to edit the Y-positioning of each image, individually, as it appears in the slider container? Some images need to be adjusted slightly above or below the middle point of the image and I can’t ask my client to manipulate/crop all the images in Photoshop. I could not find an ID for each image, so I couldn’t target it through CSS.

Hi,

You can target individual images with nth-child:

.sp-slide:nth-child(2) .sp-image {
    margin-top: 10px !important;
}

David

Dear all,

This is to let you know that once again I enjoyed excellent support from Bqworks. Highly recommended!

Hi

I have added a width to the slider of 1170px an all of the images I have uploaded are 1170px wide, but when I view the slider the images are very small, and only when I select ‘Allow Scale Up’ do they become the correct width but the image quality is awful.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

Many Thanks

Hi,

You’re probably loading a small image size. When you’re loading an image from the Media Library into the slide, you have the option to select the size of the image from the Media Library’s right column.

Great thanks for the help :)

You’re welcome!

Greetings. This has probably been answered before but I can’t seem to find it. I would like to programmatically tell the slider to display my list of image URLS that exist outside of Wordpress’ upload folder. The list would change. Is this possible? Thanks.

Hi,

The plugin allows you to dynamically generate a slider with shortcodes. You would have to fetch and parse the list of images yourself, if it’s outside WordPress, and based on that generate the slider shortcodes. It’s not difficult but it requires some programming knowledge.

Best,
David

Thanks for your quick reply. Just so I understand, I can do something like: call_slider_shortcode(url=’http://domain.com/image1.jpg', url= ‘http://domain.com/image2.jpg'); ?? What would the shortcode call look like?

When you create sliders in the plugin’s admin area, all you have to do is use a shortcode like this [sliderpro id="1"].

However, when you want to dynamically generate the slider, instead of creating it in the admin, you need to use a set of shortcodes, which are presented in the documentation. For example:

[sliderpro id="1" width="100%" loop="true"]
    [sliderpro_slide]
        [sliderpro_slide_element name="main_image_source"] path/to/image1.jpg [/sliderpro_slide_element]
    [/sliderpro_slide]
    [sliderpro_slide]
        [sliderpro_slide_element name="main_image_source"] path/to/image2.jpg [/sliderpro_slide_element]
        [sliderpro_slide_element name="main_image_link"] http://bqworks.com/sliderpro/ [/sliderpro_slide_element]
        [sliderpro_slide_element name="layer" position="center" show_transition="right"] some layer content [/sliderpro_slide_element]
    [/sliderpro_slide]
[/sliderpro]

Of course, this shortcode string can be dynamically generated with PHP, which is what you would do after fetching and parsing the list of images, and then call do_shortcode( $shortcode_string ).

Best,
David
