Hi, the plugin is displaying old post that have been deleted. How do I fix this?

Hi,

Can i relate posts manually?

Cant find backend demo; could you please provide it? Need to see how its algoritm works.

Thank you; best regards

Found it on documentation. Its posible i guess; thank you.

Hi!

You can use the plugin shortcode within the post body to display related posts wherever you want to :)

very nice,

but can I create multiple related post based on tag or category,

e.g

I create 3 related post:

1 based on tag 1 based on category 1 based on other tag

thanks mate

Hi!

You can create multiple instances, but you cannot specify which tag or category to use exactly. You can add category exceptions, but not possible to specify which tag to use exactly.

Hi there – does this plugin allow me to display related posts based on the author of the current post, and does it display custom posts?

Hi!

Unfortunately it’s not possible yet to restrict the posts from the author of the current post. It is however possible to select which posts you want to display manually – both globally and for each post as well.

Hi, i have a problem to show the excerpt. i use for the title field the post title – thats works and for the contentfield i use a customs excerpt field but this don’t show. And if i use the the default post excerpt field than is the same. dont works. what do i wrong?

Hi!

Make sure to update the plugin to the latest version first (4.7), if you haven’t already. There have been changes around these fields in this version.

If you have updated and still can’t get it to work, then please open a support ticket and I will check on the problem directly.

Pre sale question … I see the plugin very good. But i want show the article in widget (300 px in option template) but i don’t wan’t see a large image.

Are possible view a list of related post whit a list title and image small?

Hi!

Sorry, I have missed the notification for your comment somehow.

Unfortunately I think this is not possible. It’s not possible to change the layout to a list-type style.

I cannot offer customization services I’m sorry. ( I don’t have enough time )

What is the best way to customize the content under the titlefield ?

I want to display an image from a source i get from a custom_field_name and also other customs fields

I dont want to edit the core code. I tried to put my whole code in the textarea Content format but it do not work well.

Thank you

Hi!

The best way is probably to make a filter function to modify the content, using the “rpp_item_after_postprocessing” filter:

add_filter( 'rpp_item_after_postprocessing', 'rpp_change_things', 1, 1 );

function rpp_change_things( $post ) {
  /**
   * You can access/change the following fields:
   *   $post->id
   *   $post->content
   *   $post->title
   *   $post->image
   */

  //Generate your custom content here.

  $post->content = "My Custom content";

  return $post;
}

You can basically add anything you want into the content field – get custom fields, html code, anything. The best place for this code is usually the active themes functions.php file. It’s update-proof as well, as no core code is modified.

Presale question: Does this plugin work for woocommerce cross sell and up sells as well? Would be great for this if it does.

Hi!

Unfortunately it won’t work for that, I’m sorry.

Hey, this plugin looks good for my use which is related posts based on title and other factors, but I want to be able to fully customize the output/display, using none of your templates. Is this something possible to change in your code – by myself?

Hi!

Well it depends on your experience in CSS programming mostly I would say. There are modifications you can make via the back-end like width, background, borders, box-shadows, typography etc.. For other modification you will have to add your own CSS code.

Hi..

I’m about to update my WP from version 4.4 to 4.5, I’m wondering if this current version of Related Post Pro compatible with current WP version, all deprecated codes updated? On Codecanyon only stated compatible up to 4.3, so far with 4.4 still working fine, but what about 4.5?

Thanks

Hi!

Yes, the plugin is compatible with the latest WP version, it should work after the update.

hi, great plug – i’m already using the shortcode version. can i:

1. set it globally on all posts without a shortcode 2. set it only for a certain post category 3. mix between the two

?

thx

Hi!

Thank you for your kind words!

1. Yes, it is possible to show under/over content on the Layout Options -> Output options panel: http://i.imgur.com/7Wdz90J.png

2. Only possible with a custom code directly in used in the theme. Something like:
<?php if ( has_category(123) ): ?>
   <?php echo do_shortcode('[wpdreams_rpp id=0]'); ?>
<?php endif; ?>

3. You can use the shortcode even if the plugin is enabled to display over/under the content.

Is there a way to only display posts from the same category? I don’t even care about how they’re sorted, so long as they’re from the same category only.

Hi!

On the Relevance Options -> Categories & Taxonomies panel you can enable that: http://i.imgur.com/uXRVyXa.png

Hi

I have problem with custom related post override, the custom related failed to load on posts, I think it’s similar to this problem :

https://wp-dreams.com/forums/topic/related-posts-not-showing-when-using-custom-content/ https://wp-dreams.com/forums/topic/local-custom-override-not-working/

I can’t post on the forum because my support time already expired, but this is more of bug fix rather than support asking about the settings or editing CSS, so I hope you can help me.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

As far as I recall I have fixed this problem before, but I’m not sure.

Can you please contact me via my profile page with possible log-in and FTP details? I will try to locate it directly.

Hi wpdreams , could u direct me to the backend testing page ? this url – http://wp-relatedpostspro-admin.demo.wp-dreams.com/ simply redirects me to https://wp-dreams.com/

Hi,

Unfortunately the back-end demo is shut down for a while due to various issues, sorry about that.

Greetings, Is this compatible with wordpress 4.6?

Hi,

Yes, it is compatible :)

You had responded to this question a year ago, so checking to see if this is now possible – Is it possible to duplicate an instance? there are a lot of configuration changes we need to make for every single instance, and it would be nice if we could start from a custom baseline.

Hi,

A new update is on the way, should be out tomorrow after approval. It will include an instance duplication feature as well.

Is it possible to configure the plugin so that it takes the first photo of each post and not the second? And I do not use “future images”.

Hi!

I think you have discovered a bug with the recent version. Interestingly nobody else noticed it, not even me :)

The plugin should return the first image found from the post not the second, but because of a mistake it indeed does returns the second. Unfortunately the only way to fix it is to directly edit the code.

In case you want to fix it manually, just open the wp-content\plugins\related-posts-pro\includes\related_content.class.php file on your server and scroll to line 1638 where you should see this:

$im = wpdreams_get_image_from_content( $content, 1 );

Change that to:

$im = wpdreams_get_image_from_content( $content, 0 );

..that should hopefully do the trick.

If you need help editing, feel free to open a support ticket with temporary log-in and FTP access, and I will do it for you.

Best regards,
Ernest Marcinko

Correction, the file path is: wp-content\plugins\related-posts-pro\includes\related_content.class.php and the line number should be 1638.

Hi, i have a problem. i cant delete a related post and i cant load a theme. error check no issue. i try different Compatibility settings with no effect. pls hlp

Hi,

Try re-installing the plugin to see if that helps. Otherwise I will have to take a look in order to be able to tell. Feel free to open a support ticket in that case.

I just got a warning about this plugin saying that it uses a library called TimThumb that is known to have a vulnerability. Can you confirm that this is using the latest version of TimThumb?

Hi,

The file is there, but it’s no longer in use. It is not the vulnerable version, and it’s going to be completely removed in the upcoming version as well.

If you are concerned, you can remove it, it’s located in the wp-content/plugins/related-posts-pro/includes/tithumb.php folder.

Ernest Marcinko
