Some more info would be nice

how are they updated daily, what service is used for this

Hi,

I added a whole description now, but to answer your question, the exchange rates come from openexchangerates.org

Best regards, Rik

Is it possible to get exchange rates from the MySQL db and how to implement that?

Hi,

That’s absolutely possible with a basic understanding of PHP and MySQL. What you have to do is echo out the exchange rates from the database in the same JSON format as the current JSON format and then change the URL in the Javascript.

If you would like to hire me for this, please contact me through the contact form on my profile.

Best regards, Rik

Could you explain:

span class="cc_price" data-price="9.11923398">$12.00

How do you derive the data-price ?

If the script is based on USD should this be initially set to:

span class="cc_price" data-price="12.00">$12.00

Hi,

the data-price attribute always is the price in Euros. This is then used to convert to other currencies. 1 EUR = 1.266 USD (at this time), so when converting to dollars it’ll multiply the data-price with 1.266.

Best regards, Rik

To iterate, we wish to set base currency as australian dollar, so its factor is 1. This means we need to change config vars fir conversion ratio, could you explain. This also needs to be clarified for data-price please.

Hi,

The data-price still has to be in Euros. You’ll not have to change anything in the config, besides, changing the rate’s in the config will have no effect since the exchange rates are stored in your browser’s LocalStorage. The rate’s in the config are only the default rate’s for if downloading the new rate’s doesn’t work or if your browser doesn’t support LocalStorage.

Hope this answers your question. Best regards, Rik.

Also, sorry but this is a really good script.

I wish to display currency symbol instead of AUD etc, so in the config:

"AUD": { "name": "Australian Dollar", "rate": 1.223 }

Can I just change AUD to $ or hex code& # 3 6 ; But I also need to wrap Class around the currency symbol, because we use sup /sup

Hi,

This is not supported for Australian Dollar, but pretty easy to add yourself. Have a look at lines 425-435 in currency-converter.js and just add:

else if(curr === ‘AUD’) { before = ’<span class=”cur_symbol”>$</span>’; }

Best regards, Rik.

Hi, is it possible to display the “yen” symbol ¥ rather than the currency letters before the currency.

Rik, I notice on your instructions that the config.js must not have any options removed? my client only wishes to use

GBP EUROS AMERICAN DOLLARS YEN

is this possible

Thanks

Hi,

Remove them from the config.js. Then flush all your cookies & html5localstorage and it should work.

Best regards, Rik

Hi,

No PHP is required to run this script, it’s all built on Javascript.

Hi,

Hi, If I had 3 flags (US, UK and EU) next to my items product page, if a customer clicked one of the flags, is it possible (and easy enough) that the whole site would remember which flag they chose and convert all prices to that currency?

Many thanks :)

Mark

Hi,

It’s certainly possible, but you will need some jQuery coding experience to make this work. So it’s probably not the right solution if you’re looking for a plug-and-play plugin.

Best regards, Rik

hi your plugin is GREAT!!!

i jest saw that the reats is not updating and find that its base on the openexchangerates.org so i did register for the forever free and get an ID, where shuld i insert the code? thanks Josef
