Good evening, what files have changed in the update? I redesigned the script and I would not want to lose everything. Thank you for telling me which files to replace.

It is a horror! In addition the urls on the titles (name) return on board on bing. I wonder if google will still index my site with urls that first return to bing before going to web sites!

Hello mandii,

The URL’s pointing to bing first will have 0 impact on the way Google indexes your website. That’s how the Bing API works now and there’s not much you can do about it, they have stripped down lots of great features that they used to have and limited the API even further.

Alexandru P.

Ok thanks for its clarification

Hi Pricop, will the old version stop working? If yes, do you know when? I have v1.3 or v1.4 installed. Do I have to update the script or will the old one continue to work? Thanks for your answer. Aixtreme

Hello,

You need to update the entire software if you’re coming from a version pre-mysqli. The database should be fine.

Hello Pricop, Today I’ve got the following note from Azure Market: “DataMarket and Data Services are being retired and will stop accepting new orders after 12/31/2016. Existing subscriptions will be retired and cancelled starting 3/31/2017. Please reach out to your service provider for options if you want to continue service.” Does this mean, that in spite of using the new Bing API, your script will not longer work, starting 3/31/2017? Thanks for your answer. Aixtreme

Hello Aixtreme,

No, the new API is not affected by these changes.

Hello Alexandru, thanks for this update ! I noticed that in the source file, like the video one for instance, you have set those two parameters in the request url : “&offset=10&mkt=en-us” I think it’s a mistake no ? For the first request we don’t have to specify the offset, am i wrong ? Or it is to avoid some duplicate content in the results ?

Thanks. Regards.

PS: aixtreme, i think everything will go fine, the Bing API is now under Microsoft “cognitive services” and no longer on Azure, that’s why you received this message. But Alexandru will confirm us that :)

Hello tonari,

That is correct, the offset should have been set to 10 (somehow I have managed to miss that and let it slip trough). I have sent a silent update and should be approved by tomorrow. Just set the offset to 0 in the images & videos files from /source/ folder. Thanks for the heads-up.

Regards,

Alexandru P.

You’re welcome :) I don’t know if you tried to play with the new API fonctionnalites, but i have some issue with the “nextOffsetAddCount” part. On the video search part, that breaks my second request. When i use the load more button, the request return a non complete answer (i don’t have the right amount of results), and the load more button don’t show. But the same code works just fine on the image search part… That’s weird.

Hello tonari,

This new API behaves so erratic that I was on a 5 minutes distance to remove this product from CodeCanyon. The new API is a misery to say the least. I had issues with the offset functionality alone when using the API type request (for example images) in the URLs parameters. It would work just fine for the count=10 and offset=10, but as soon as I started paginating it, it would return an empty response, not even an error message. I’m working on a stand-alone search engine and crawler, you might want to keep an eye on my CC profile.

Hi, can I limit the source of the search result to specific sites? For example, I want the search engine to search only for www[dot]site1[dot]com and www.site2[dot]com only.

Hello pubglic,

Your question has been answered several times before, have a look at: https://codecanyon.net/item/php-search-engine/4052196/comments?utf8=✓&term=site%3A&from_buyers_and_authors_only=0#comment_8650281

Cool script!

Any chance you can add related search terms to the result page in order to get some internal linking going on?

Also, is it possible to link directly to the results instead of going through a bing.com 302 redirect?

Hello klickmedia,

I’ll add in on the suggestions list.

No, the new Bing API has removed that functionality.

Can i just install the theme on the glype script ?

If so how would i do it, what files should i transfer.

Hello T1_Hardcoregamer,

I have no clue what glype is, but I don’t think it would be compatible.

Regards,

Alexandru P.

Hello T1_Hardcoregamer,

I’m not aware of how that software works, but I highly doubt that the design is compatible since they got nothing in common.

Hi Alexandru! I really like your work. I have purchased several of your PHP Scripts before. My questions: I am building a site using bootstrap, now, and I would like to add this. Will this effect my current site? Second, does the Bing API require the site to be “Live”? To elaborate, I am building an intranet Document Management System using bootstrap and there is no outside internet access. Will this work for me?

Thank you in advance.

Hello AverageStudent,

This won’t be suitable for you as it requires a permanent connection to Bing’s API database, it doesn’t work for intranets.

Alexandru P.

Hi Pricop, Can you please give me a hint how to add the site and language operator to the new API request. In the old one I’ve used ”.’%20site%3Adomain.com’.’%20language%3Aen’”. but the new API is not working with this.

Thanks for your answer.

Aixtreme

Hello Aixtreme,

You can change the market zone used by the API by changing the &mkt operator’s value from the API request, for example in /sources/web.php line 24.

Regards,

Alexandru P.

Thanks. That will solve my language problem, I guess. But what about the site operator? something like .&site=domain.com is not working in the new API request :-(

OK. I’ve solved this issue for myself. Changed new API request from https://api.cognitive.microsoft.com/bing/v5.0/search?q='.urlencode($query).'&count=... to https://api.cognitive.microsoft.com/bing/v5.0/search?q='.urlencode($query).'%20site:domain.com'.'&count=... e.g. in sources/web.php and sources/web.php and requests/web.php

Works the script?

Hello arsko,

Yes, it does work.

Regards,

Alexandru P.

Demo is not working, a working version of the show!

Hello arsko,

Try it again, it should be working now.

Regard,

Alexandru P.

Good afternoon – how do you make the script search a specific site?

Hello ellwood1979,

This has been answered before, you’ll have to use the site: parameter, like so: https://codepulsar.com/search3/index.php?a=web&q=example+site%3Alinkedin.com

Regards,

Alexandru P.

A payment only via paypal?

You can pay through a different system, I’m from Russia

Hello arsko,

You can also pay using your credit-card. For payment related inquiries please contact http://support.envato.com

Great job! Thank you!

Can I use this search engine with my mysql database to post results?

Hello beetlesales,

Nope, this is an API based product.
