Popular questions for this item

Does this plugin allow XYZ currency payments on my site?

Yes, as long as it is a valid currency and provided by any of the three available currency exchange rate providers which are Open Exchange API, Yahoo Finance, and European Central Bank.

Can I set my WooCommerce Shop with a custom currency code?

Yes, this plugin allows you to create a custom currency that is not available in the default list of WooCommerce.

Does this plugin automatically update the currency exchange rates?

Yes, with the help of a Cron job you can trigger the plugin to fetch the latest exchange rate for the set currency couple from the selected exchange rate provider.

Does this plugin send me a notification once the exchange rate was updated?

Yes, given that you have checked the checkbox “Log”

I have an erroneous appearance in the admin back-end. What can I do?

Please try a different exchange rate provider like Yahoo Finance or European Central Bank. In case you use Open API, make sure that your Key is working. After you changed the settings, hit the save button. Furthermore make sure that the currency couple that you have selected is provided by the chosen exchange rate provider.

Will this plugin work with a currency which is not supported by PayPal? For instance, XYZ is not supported by PayPal and the PayPal gateway cannot be activated on this Woocommerce. Will it work with the help of your extension?

Yes, that’s why I created this plugin. You set your shop currency to XYZ and then decide to which allowed currency it should be converted for PayPal payment.

Is it possible to allow the user to select the currency?

In case you refer to the user as your customer on the web front-end, then the answer is no, In case your talk about the user as back-end admin, then the answer is yes. I doubt that there is an opportunity in offering the customer a choice for currency conversion…this would be another roadblock in online payment in my opinion.

I downloaded and installed the plugin and during setup I see this error:

Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: https:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0 in /home/producc1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/paypalcurrencyconverter/proxy.php on line 2

Warning: file_get_contents(https://www.google.com/finance/converter?a=1&from=USD&to=MXN) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /home/producc1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/paypalcurrencyconverter/proxy.php on line 2

Please check your servers php.ini for the entry “allow_url_fopen=0ff” change it to “allow_url_fopen=On” or add that entry.

Other options are discussed in specific places….check this for example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3694240/add-allow-url-fopen-to-my-php-ini-using-htaccess

Is it possible to manually set the conversion rate to an appropriate value and not the official?

You may set the exchange rate to whatever you want. But bear in mind that it should be a reasonable value. Furthermore you need to turn off automatic exchange rates update.
