I'll update this again with an excerpt from the support ticket with LCWeb:
"I am extremely unhappy with the experience of getting this plugin working. I feel as if I've been funneled away from a known system of trust (Entavo) to your personal business site which for me is unknown where it took multiple steps and multiple codes between your site and email to create an account and activate."
For anyone else, you MUST create and activate an account in their system. Then you MUST register and activate the plugin using your site URL. Mine is a local network wordpress and is publicly unavailable. Despite that I HAD to activate the plugin using the "production" code. I don't know why staging or offline did not work. I expected "offline" to be the correct choice.
I've found this to be a confusing and frustrating process. You may not and be perfectly fine with the additional steps. But just so you know, you CANNOT activate this plugin from the code in Entavo. That code in Entavo's download area is worthless. The LCWeb system MUST be involved in getting it activated so you can use what you purchased.
Additionally, I HAD to activate the plugin to open a support ticket with LCWeb. I can't find a contact form on their website nor does it have an About page where businesses typically list a support email address.

Hello and thanks for your third review,
- honestly I don't undertsand why so upset about the license validation system. It's made to be sure customers use the license on a single project (as per Envato rules) and to help customers owning many licenses to orientate among them
- The license is always given and linked to Envato, remember product is made and owned by authors though
- It's a two-steps process to register your license, taking maximum 5 minutes. A further 1-minute step if you need to open a ticket. You spent much more time writing the tree reviews than validating the license...
- You never answered my ticket reply and never mentioned the offline token problem. Offline validation has been projected for buils not connected to internet and able to communicate with my server. I'm obviously still available to help you on this side
- As written on my profile, support is given exclusively through tickets
The plugin is buggy and lots of features don't work. I messaged support and they are not helpful or friendly at all. Options that should be there aren't. You're better off using another grid. I've been using essential grid for years and never had a problem. I thought I would try something new, but it's not worth the hassle back and fourth with a support team that isn't passionate about the products they support.

After your 6 replies and two ratings in less than an hour... without having read the documentation nor followed my advices.. well.. probably Essential Grid is what you deserve!
(but for some reason you purchased another product :P )
Works great
Responsive customer support, Thanks
Along with being a well designed + functional plugin for portfolio + projects, the customer service is great. I tried a bunch of portfolio plugins (12 or so, free + paid) before deciding on Media Grid. You can showcase single items or multiple items in each lightbox, there are lots of lightbox options which allow custom sizing for individual items. It took me a few hours to get comfortable with the interface and set up, but once I did it was a pleasure to use, customize and populate. I did use some custom css to make it just right — there is a custom css tab within plugin settings. The designers really looked at all the variables when they made this plugin. I highly recommend this plugin for clean portfolio or project websites.
The support system won't validate me to ask questions. This lacks any bulk item configurations as far as I can tell. I wish it had been more clear on how the back end would work so I wouldn't have purchased it.
I gave it 3 stars because the media grid does what it says it does, but the presentation on the sales pitch is unclear, and there are bugs with the LCWeb support system which makes support non-existent right now.
If you want to do a gallery of like 20 things individually tailored, this plugin is great, but if you have 300+ images you want to handle, this is gonna be a nightmare, and I wish that was more clear before purchase.

Hello, I'm sorry if you faced issues registering, but it's a simple wordpress site going through the wordpress user registration.
I see your username but most probably the activation e-mail went lost or was flagged as spam. Feel free to get in touch through my profile form https://codecanyon.net/user/lcweb#contact to get the support site password.
About your final phrase: Media Grid is a contents-focused portfolio, not a photogallery. Please evaluate an exchange with my Global Gallery plugin.

Top notch support and an even better plugin! Highly recommended (!)
Sorry, it's not quick enough and complicated.

Hello, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the plugin. If you are having troubles, feel free to ask for support
On a fresh wordpress install this plugin is great and does the job. However, I have found that using in conjunction with the Houzez theme the grid builder user interface breaks due to style conflicts. Specifically the `form-wrap` class name. I have to modify the plugin code myself to fix the UI which will break again if an automatic update is run.
It looks like the plugin author has namespaced most CSS class names, but not form-wrap. Please change this to mg_form_wrap like the other class names so the plugin does not break when being used with other themes and plugins. Then I will give 5 stars :)
Author response
Hi, "form-wrap" is a wordpress admin class setting precise CSS rules to inner elements. Because of this I use it.
However there are no changes made by Media Grid to elements owning that class. Almost surely there are other plugins/theme directly acting on that class, and this shouldn't be done.
regards,
Luca
Great Product ! Great Support ! 6 Stars !
Despite declared compatibility with WPBakery the addition of MediaGrid element to the page resulted in the generated page so badly damaged that none of the top browsers displays it.
Author response
Hello, you stopped answer to my ticket reply. WPBakery isn't surely a problem, then the issue must be elsewhere, but I'd need to check to help you further. Thanks
