Nice job with the maps! And SnazzyMaps, I never heard of them before but I always wondered where the darker type maps came from. Definitely bookmarked!
thank you! And yes, SnazzyMaps is a great resource for custom Google Maps, giving you access to hundreds of free map styles, allowing you to style a map any way you want to.
Hi, I was checking this out again. I read by too quick. I actually don’t need to buy this because it is part of your Extensions plugin, right? Which I have already.
Yes, if you also own our bundle add-on “Composium – Visual Composer Extensions” the features and elements of this add-on will be included there as well (requires at least v4.0.0).
Thanks! I’ll have to update and check it out. Appreciate it.
the jSon import is just from WP-Admin or I can create a Dinamic jSon file and auto update this every refresh of my page?
the JSON file can be hosted anywhere and will be loaded directly by the map upon page load, as the path to the file is added to the map data settings as permanent marker source.
So if there is a change in the JSON file, it will automatically be reflected on the map after the next page load (any caching issues aside).
Hi! Really Nice plugin!
Any chance to map a custom post/Category to marker/overlay ?
unfortunately, the plugin does not include such a feature.
hi this is sarath. i am planning to buy this plugin. before that i just want to know whether it is possible to add range or price filter. regarding this i have mailed to your team. didnt get any reply yet, thats why posting here. waiting for your response
the maps do not support any range or price filters.
I want to filter a map with two different sets of categories. For example, suppose I have categories a, b, and c. I have used plugins where these are in a dropdown and markers are created and filtered accordingly. I need to add a second dropdown with another set of categories, say A, B, C so that map markers can be filtered according to two criteria, e.g. aC, bB, cB, etc. Can this be done?
in its current release, the map only allows filtering based on selections made in one dropdown. It is unfortunately not possible to use multiple co-dependent filter criteria.
Is it also possibility to customize the “accumulated” marker (this with the number of locations which will shown after click on it).
Thank you in advance,
not sure exactly what you mean, but I assume you are referencing the marker cluster icon. That layout/style can not be changed, as it is controlled via an underlying external JS library.
If that is not what you mean, I would need a more detailed description.
Yes indeed, my question was about marker cluster
So maybe there is an option to deactivate it and leave only marker (without number)?
yes, the marker clusterer can be disabled in the element settings, and the actual location markers will be shown directly, without being grouped.
With the marker cluster feature enabled, the map will simply group markers that are too close to each other, once the map reaches a certain zoom level, where one wouldn’t be able to really differentiate between the individual markers anymore, because they are too close.
Once one clicks on the cluster marker, the map will zoom in and show the actual location markers inside the clusterer. But as mentioned, the clusterer can be disabled.
Good to know, as I need exactly the funcionality of markerclusterer but with custom icon. So for sure I won’t be able to use for example this method to change the icon :http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7834284/styling-markerclusterer-icons ?
at this time, the plugin does NOT provide any options to change/manipulate the marker clusterer icons. Future updates might introduce such options, though.
Great Plugin, options are perfect.
Except one thing: Color customization of the info window, all i would need is a css class but its all element style..
Is there a way i can still change bg color etc?
as of now, the info window is the standard info window as provided/generated by the Google Maps API. As such, customization options are basically non-existent, since Google simply does NOT provide any options for that in its API. The API also does not assign any class names to the info window container that could be targeted.
I have plans to eventually incorporate a custom info window solution, though. Hopefully sooner, than later.
can you use your own custom image for a map and place the pins with info on top of your image instead of using a google map? thanks
the map itself will always be rendered by Google and it is not possible to use a custom image for the map itself; you can only use custom images for the markers.
Great plugin! However, I would love it if there was a way to provide @2x icons, for better display on Retina screens. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be any way to change the height and width of the image, which means that any @2x icons will be enormous.
making custom markers retina ready on Google Maps has proven to be a rather complex issue, but I’m currently “experimenting” with some additional marker settings, based on the Google Maps API (“size” + “scaledSize”), hoping to come up with an option to allow dedicated retina markers. It will hopefully roll out with a future update.
I bought this plugin it works fine except i have a limit on markesr. I wanna add 85 markers but i can only add around 14 – 15 markers in one map. Can we add 85 markers in one map?
there are no marker limitation imposed by this plugin/add-on itself. The only limitation source could be VC itself, when it comes to the number of child elements that can be added to a container element, but that is outside of my plugins control; and I’m not actually aware of any such limitation (would be a question to the VC author itself).
Alternatively, you should consider using the JSON feed option to provide your markers to the map, which is more suited for such a large number of markers.
As announced in my support forum for the last couple of weeks already, please note that due to a medical leave for “Tekanewa Scripts”, support will be at best severely limited or not available at all during the time from 05/09/2016 – 05/29/2016. Full support is scheduled to resume on 05/30/2016. For more information, visit here.
I apologize for the inconvenience but am hopeful that you will be understanding.
My question pertains to adding a “Select Location” option at the top of the dropdown. How can I do it in Google Maps for VC plugin.
I already replied to your matching email, so please check you inbox.
The email address you provided in the contact form seems to be invalid, as the email I just sent got returned with the error message, that such an email address does not exist.
Therefore, here a copy of my initial reply:
“Once you are logged into the system, you need to use the “Forums” section in the page menu, and select the forum that actually matches the item you need assistance for. The page that will then open will provide a listing of existing topics first, and below that you will find a section to create a new topic.
As for your question, that is currently not yet possible, but will be added soon via plugin update.”
Thanks for you quick response. I tried what you suggested in the forum, but it says “The forum ‘Google Maps PLUS for Visual Composer’ is closed to new topics and replies.”
I can send you a screenshot, but I couldn’t find any place to attach it.
About the plugin update: is such an update expected soon? Thanks.
I apologize for the issue with the closed forum; that should obviously not have been the case. I opened the forum back up and you should be able to create new tickets again.
As for the update … I’m currently finishing up a large update for my main VC add-on (“Composium – Visual Composer Extensions”), which will also include some major additions to the Google Maps elements (as those are also part of “Composium”).
Once that update has been released (mid July, hopefully), I will port all the new additions regarding the maps elements to this standalone version for the Google Maps elements and release it as update in the 2nd half of July (again, estimated).
Hi, any plans to add a customizable Marker listings table below the map (perhaps as an add on)? Basically, you can customize the rows in the table to display any information (from the marker, like: name, number, contact, description, etc.) and when the marker or name is clicked on it shows on the map.
such plans do in fact exist, but I do not have a timetable (ETA) for it yet, as it has proven more complex than initially anticipated.
The standard browser based API:
I’m considering purchasing the plugin to use for one of our client’s websites and wanted to know a little about how much it can be customized. Is it possible to add a separate layer or graphic over a section of the map to visually showcase something specific (like a gold course) or even highlight or change the color of a specific area on the map to do the same? Also, can you show specific routes on the map without the user entering info for two locations? For example, we want to show how many KM and minutes it is from one location to another to show how convenient our client’s location is. Thanks!
the map element includes support for Google Map overlays (polygons, polylines, circles, rectangles). Each overlay can also have one infowindow. You can see some overlays on this demo map:
Based on your examples, a polyline overlay could be used to highlight distances between two locations (see the red line on the sample map; you would just add one additional marker to the start and ending of the line each), and a polygon overlay to mark an area like a golf course (see the blueish polygon on the sample map). Naturally, in order to add those overlays, you need to obtain the matching coordinate sets, and the more the overlay is supposed to match outlines on the map itself, the more coordinates you need.
A straight line requires only two sets of coordinates, but that would only indicate an aerial distance; a line that follows an actual road (more appropriate for travel distances), would obviously require many more coordinate sets, in order to reflect all turns.
Hover highlights are not supported by the map, though.
Thanks for the quick reply and confirming those things. Just to check, is the polygon overlay to mark an area in the sample map the Animal Park Berlin?
Yes, that’s the polygon overlay I was referring to.
There is also an additional marker for the animal park, but the marker is independent from the overlay. Naturally, overlay colors can be adjusted via element setting options.
Great. Thanks again!
Hi, we would like to overlay an image over a google map similar to the tsunami image on this page: http://serc.carleton.edu/sp/library/google_earth/kml_examples_from_google.html
Is that possible with this plugin?
this plugin does not support image overlays; only official Google overlays like polygon, polyline, rectangle or circle.
Dear staff, we add your plugin to our site, then add the proper Google Maps API, but something seems to be broken.
The error is quite generic: “This API project is not authorized to use this API. Please ensure this API is activated in the Google Developers ”; we usually use Google Maps and its API without any error, but with this plugin we get the error reported.
Please, could you take a look?
all the plugin does it to add the API key you provided to the load request for the Google Maps API, according to the syntax that is required by Google.
Beyond that, the plugin has no other interaction with the API and absolutely no control over whether the key is actually valid and/or registered properly with Google. It simply uses the key exactly as you provided it.
If Google returns an error with the API key, then you need to check the key and/or generate a new one with the appropriate project, as this can only be done by you. My plugin can only use what you provide.
Also, on my end, the map from my plugin you embedded on your referenced page is loading correctly, without any error messages in the browser console.
There is a conflict with Elements for Users – Addon for Visual Composer plugin.
Google Map Plus is not showing while using it. Also TS PLUS is not show on Product page even if I put manual the shortcake it works perfect when switch back to VC environment.
please open an actual ticket in the support forum and provide me with admin access to your site, so I can take a closer look.
Hi, I want to know if the extension Incorporates their geolocation
