The link to your documentation doesn’t work… not a great start.
where exactly is the link located that you are referring to?
It was this one: http://www.googlemapsvc.krautcoding.com/documentation/ but seems to be loading now
I have the plugin as part of Salient theme and I am having some issues saving the settings. I need to change the API for Google Maps but when I try to save, it gives me an error. This part is marked with red, but I am not sure what should be done there: Google Maps PLUS for Visual Composer
If you are using the “User Groups Access Rules” provided by Visual Composer itself, you MUST enable the new elements in the settings for the actual Visual Composer Plugin. Is there any way that could help me? Thanks
to my knowledge, this plugin is not bundled with the “Salient” theme, as I use that theme myself. In fact, no theme is bundling this plugin (at least not legally), as I have not sold any extended licenses for this particular plugin.
Without knowing the error message and access to your site, there isn’t much I can do for you, and further support requires you to actually have a valid license, which the user you are currently posting under does not seem to have.
The user role manager in Visual Composer would be unrelated to the issue you are describing (saving the settings and subsequent error message).
Thanks a lot for your reply. The issue is that I did not setup this website myself and I am struggling to track the installations and all. Till now I managed to find that we purchased Salient and I thought VC and your plugin came with it as I cannot find any information how this was actually installed. I checked your website and the screenshot under “Composer Element” section looks different in my case (http://krautcoding.com/userprovc/documentation/). The issue is that there is no error message under the red stripe showing on the top when I try to save, there is only this popup that says: “Google Maps PLUS for Visual Composer / Please correct the errors that have been found before your settings can be saved!”. Is there any other way that we your plugin was installed without purchasing the licence, like with VC or I do not know. Thanks a lot
now, you are referring to a totally different plugin of mine (“UserPro Elements for Visual Composer“), while you are currently posting in the comments for my “Google Maps PLUS for Visual Composer” plugin.
The only legal way to obtain any of those plugins is by purchasing a license through Envato, as neither of those plugins is available through a theme via extended license.
If there is an error in the settings validation, the corresponding input field within the settings tabs should be highlighted in red. Most likely, the errors relate to missing text strings in the translation tab.
Sorry I googled that and it seems that I got to the wrong page.
What is the best and fastest way to fix this, including purchasing the licence etc.?
Thanks a lot for your help.
One more thing, is there a way to change the API key manually, besides from the setting page? I just found out that if I manage to change and save the API key, the google map will work correctly. Thanks
You can purchase a license here on Envato (CodeCanyon), as this is the only place licenses are offered.
Once you have a valid license, and with it more importantly a license (purchase) key, you need to create an account in the support forum and open a corresponding help ticket. The forum will require the license key for a one-time confirmation.
With some luck, there might be a license key already entered on the license page within the settings section. If so, you can try using that key first, before actually purchasing (another) license.
The Google Maps API key can only be entered and stored via the settings page.
The filters are not shown in the mobile version.
Does not this functionality exist in mobile?
for performance reasons, those advanced features are by default removed on all devices with a screen width of less than 400px.
You can change that threshold in the element settings, however.
Hi Tekanewa, can you share is it possible in “Location Selector Selectbox” to display these on/off rows by GROUP? (e.g. 3 polygons within a group = 1 row in the selectbox). This would be very helpful for my usage.
the direct location selector is showing every marker/overlay individually, since that is it’s exact purpose: Allowing the user to directly select any marker/overlay, without having to search for it.
But if you assign the same group name to your three overlays (in the settings for each overlay) and activate the group filter in the main (container) map settings, the group filter will then show/hide marker/overlays in the location selector and the map itself, based on the active group names.
It is also possible, to assign multiple different group names to each marker/overlay.
Yes, I see. My problem is imagine I want to make polygon over every “pizza” stores and “tools” stores within city. I want to show polygons for all stores, but if user clicks either polygon on map of pizza store, or selects “Show pizza stores” below, then all pizza stores light up (with single info box telling some info).
I’m wondering maybe if I can do something like this with event trigger calling only group names.
What you say about filters is nice, but when map first loaded we want all groups (and their respective defined polygons) visible.
per Google Map API, infoboxes are associated with individual markers/overlays; it is not possible to tie several marker/overlays to just one (the same) infowindow.
The group filter is a custom solution, since the API does not actually provide such a feature. I think, if I understand your description correctly, that disabling the individual location selector, while enabling the group filter, would be the closest thing possible to what you describe.
The group filter will simply show/hide markers/overlays on the map, based on filter selections. Therefore, if the user selects only “Pizza Stores” in the group filter, the map will only show all items belonging to that group.
But you will still be required to add infowindow content to each marker/overlay individually, even if it is the same content for any single one of them.
Thanks. I will play with it a bit more. Even if it doesn’t do exactly what I want, I think you did a fantastic and thorough job with it!
Your suggestion were spot on. It actually does do exactly what I want. Disabling overlay selector & using the group filter was what needed to be done. Also that fact that you’ve labelled all of your text strings has made changes to labels super convenient.
glad this approach is working for you!
One thing I noticed is you can’t nest a “plus” map within a tab, but you can nest the basic/single map within the standard “tabbed content” tabs.
this is a default limitation of VC … allowing container elements within another container element. There are limits as to how many nested levels a shortcode can have.
However, in the plugin settings, tab “General Settings”, section “Element Setting Panel Controls”, you will find an experimental option “Allow Extended Container Elements Nesting” that will attempt to bypass that limitation. Usage of that option is at your own risk as it is not officially supported by VC, but if you require the “PLUS” map element within the tabs, than that’s the only way to get it.
Thanks. Saw the warning on the feature there. I’ll guess use some other UI workaround to avoid plus-within-tabs if it’s not reliable.
It usually works just fine; the disclaimer is just there to make clear that it is bypassing a default/inherit limitation in Visual Composer and therefore an unsupported feature. But personally, I have not found an instance where it didn’t work, but of course, VC is always free to make changes.
Hi Tekanewa, VC just updated plugin (v5.2 now) and I notice I can no longer access details of overlays in wp-admin. It just spins like loading when I go to edit an overlay/polygon.
Here is also the detail of the error: http://imgur.com/a/jxSKs (you can see some problem now in ts_vcsc_parameter_separator.php maybe?)
a new update to v2.1.0 is already pending on CodeCanyon and currently just waiting for approval from Envato.
If you don’t want to wait for the update to be available here, please contact me via contact at krautcoding.com.
Thanks! Sent you email. SInce you guys did such a good job with this maps plugin I’m going to purchase your Tablenator / Advanced Tables plugin right now as well. DataTables-style header sortable tables was the next item on our todo list for new website. Looks like you guys have done a good job there too.
just attempted to send you the package, but the email was returned from your email provider because it includes .js files, which are now blocked by Gmail. See more information here:
Do you have another email address from a different provider that I can use?
Not really—everything points back/fwd to gmail for me. Can you use drive, dropbox, or something like this? Or put it on your server and just send me link? Thanks.
I just sent you another email with instructions.
Hi! I have a client that is insisting that the info-window display on hover rather than on click. Can you guide me in the direction to make this possible?? Thank you.
unfortunately, this plugin does not support triggering the infowindows on hover, and does not advertise/claim such a feature.
Is this something we might could hire you to incorporate for us? They are willing to pay good money for it.
I appreciate the offer, but at this time, I’m unable to take on any additional custom work. But I added your request to my list of future possible additions for the plugins, and if possible and when time allows for it, I will attempt to work on it.
Personally, however, I must say that it is a very bad idea to trigger infowindows on hover. For starters, every browser handles the hover event a little different, and on mobile device with small screens, reading an infowindow while having to keep the hover event triggered might prove difficult.
Furthermore, sometimes, the map must be moved in order to accomodate the size of the infowindow (for example, if the marker was too close to the edge of the map), which means, the marker that just triggered the hover event will not remain below the cursor or touch point anymore that triggered the hover in the first place, and by doing so, cancelling the hover event.
