If you get “no input file specified” error on goDaddy web host you need to change the .htaccess as follows

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
# Removes index.php
RewriteCond $1 !\.(gif|jpe?g|png)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L]

I’m getting 404 page not found error after installation.

In this case your server needs the RewriteBase option to be set. Open the .htaccess file in the main folder and add the following line to it:
RewriteBase /

The file should look like this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
RewriteBase /
If you have installed the application into a sub folder you need to add the sub folder name after the /
The .htaccess file should look like this in this case:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
RewriteBase /your_sub_folder/

If you get a 500 Error after the installation try the following as .htaccess

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L]

If you get a error 500 and you are using cPanel try the following .htaccess

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ your_subfolder/index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
The following message comes up:
Warning: Unexpected character in input: ’\’ (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/public_html/sparks/php-activerecord/0.0.2/libraries/phpactiverecord.php on line 48
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/public_html/sparks/php-activerecord/0.0.2/libraries/phpactiverecord.php on line 48

Your server is not running PHP 5.3 or higher. Contact your hosting provider in order to update your PHP version to 5.3 or higher.

When I try to edit the templates I got the message : Template could not be saved!

Solved by changing templates folder to 666

I get an Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS) when I try to access the login page.

This means that your .htaccess is not configured correctly. Please try the following:

RewriteEngine On
# Removes index.php
RewriteCond $1 !\.(gif|jpe?g|png)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /your_subfolder/index.php?/$1 [L]

I get a blank page with that code as title : <?=$core_settings->company;?>

The only issue you have is that your server does not support PHP short open tags. Just go into /application/config/config.php and change line 344 to TRUE:
$config['rewrite_short_tags'] = TRUE;

If you are on 1and1 web hosting you may get the following error after the installation: Message: PDO::__construct(): Connecting to 3.22, 3.23 & 4.0 is not supported. Server is 4.0.27-standard

The problem here is the socket (/tmp/mysql5.sock) which is used by this host.

Change line 239 like below in the following file: /sparks/php-activerecord/0.0.2/vendor/php-activerecord/lib/Connection.php
$this->connection = new PDO("$info->protocol:$host;dbname=$info->db;unix_socket=/tmp/mysql5.sock", $info->user, $info->pass, static::$PDO_OPTIONS);

Also you might need to add the following to your /application/config/database.php

ini_set('mysqli.default_socket', '/tmp/mysql5.sock');
ini_set('mysql.default_socket', '/tmp/mysql5.sock');
ini_set('pdo_mysql.default_socket', '/tmp/mysql5.sock');

If you are using a Windows web server with IIS installed, the .htaccess won’t work so you need to edit the web.config like this (make sure the rewrite extension is installed on your IIS server ->

<?xml version="1.0"?>
     <!-- Set the default document -->
        <remove value="index.php" />
        <add value="index.php" />
 <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed"/>
            <rule name="Main Rule" stopProcessing="true">
   <match url=".*" />
       <conditions logicalGrouping="MatchAll">
       <add input="{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsFile" negate="true" />
       <add input="{REQUEST_FILENAME}" matchType="IsDirectory" negate="true" />
               <action type="Rewrite" url="index.php" />

If you getting an error during the installation like: PHP Fatal error: Invalid opcode 153/1/8 ... sparks/php-activerecord/0.0.2/libraries/phpactiverecord.php on line 48 …

Your server is probably running eAccelerator which is causing this issue. Just disable eAccelerator within your cpanel/plesk or contact your hosting provider in order to disable this feature.

While uploaded a media file to a project you get the following error:
A PHP Error was encountered

Open libraries/Upload.php and add the following code to line 1064:

  $input = str_replace('\'', '\\\'', $input);

  return '\''.$input.'\'';
Then change line 1072 to:
