Hi,

Interesting script!

Is It possible to remove the fade effect completely?

Thanks,

Mick

Hi,

Did You receive my message ?

Thanks!

Very cool script! It’s simple and very useful!

Bookmarked

Much thanks :)

I’d like to see a feature added so that the “read more” won’t show if the text is already <= to current number of characters. I happen to have a “read more” link showing right now that doesnt do anything because of this. :(

Also, an additional feature (i have seen) is to make another parameter that won’t show “read more” if the total amount of hidden characters is less than a certain number. Sort of buffe? For instance if I have dot trails pro set to 400 and the total characters is 405, I would just want to show all characters without a “read more” link. Kind of ridiculous to hide 5 or less characters. In fact, I’d probably set my buffer to 25 and dots trail pro to 400 in this case. Make sense?

I REALLY think these features are needed and would propel dot trails pro’s usefulness and flexibility.

So.. what are others doing if all the text is already showing but this script still puts a “read more” link? Personally, I consider this a bug and obviously confusing to visitors. I have abandoned using this since there is no response from the author and there are free alternatives with resolutions. Hopefully this will be addressed in the future. I’d be happy to give it a try again since i paid for it.

Not really sure what you mean?

“Limit length of text in any page element”

“Works on any site”

Yes, it does break it.

Thanks for deleting my comments BTW , that really shows class on your part for trying to hide unhappy customer comments.

Yes it limits length of text you just quoted it yourself? TEXT no other page elements but the text inside of any page element…

Your comment was inaccurate and therefore removed. There is nothing to hide you are trying to use it for something its not meant for or claims to do?

Can you not wrap a containing element around this and apply to all calls for the

? Tried every way and it messes up.

Bought it. Uploaded it. Linked it. Loved it. Top drawer code. 5 stars from me. Thank you.

Thank you!

Exactly what I needed, works great!

Thank you! Glad you like ;)

Super Fantastic! Great work!!!!!

Thank you :)

Hi- We would be grateful if you could take a quick look at our site – the code works great in firefox, Chrome & Safari, but in IE8 the amount of text shown on page load is different than what is shown on the other three browsers and it ruins our layout – we tried to debug it but can’t figure it out. Our site is: [link removed per author request] Hopefully, your expert eye can spot what we’re doing wrong! Thank you so much! Love this code!

Thanks – went to the forum – is it inaccessible unless you pay or how do I sign in?

Creating an account is 100% free just make sure you are in the right forum.

Do you have a template I can use to customize?

There is a sample included in the download.

Can you advise how I can insert paragraph breaks inside container? Every time I insert a paragraph break, it just creates a new container. Thanks

once I click the show or readme link. the plugin redirect me to my home page. this is an unsuspected behavior, it should only show more text, and no redirect. I did not had this kind of issue with my free old script. so tell me please how can i fix this.

Thanks

Any plans on fixing this script?

Like others have said, if the text that is suppose to cut-off is less characters than what is specified, there is still a “more” link, despite nothing more to show.

Another huge bug that I see with it, is if you try to use ANY tags at all on the text, if the character count is in-between the tag, it doesn’t care and still cuts off in the middle of the tag.

If you try to claim that tags aren’t supported, your product page clearly states that it supports links. Meaning that if the character cut-off is in-between those link tags, everything gets messed up because your script cut-off the closing tag.

Fix your script from cutting off design tags in the middle or remove your product from CC. Your script does not do what it says, IE work with links.

It supports everything it says it does, taking into account you know how long the string is.

Demo looks broken?

Congratulations! Amazing Work, GLWS :)
