The drop downs appear behind my slider, how to fix that ?

Very often, this issue can be solved by adding a z-index, for example :

.menu {

You can also set a z-index to the content below the menu (slider or anything else) :

#myslider {

Please keep in mind that a z-index will apply only if there’s a position, in the above example I put “relative” but any other position can be used, it must be set for the z-index, that’s all.

If you have a flash object, the z-index trick may not work as expected but there’s something worth trying : set the wmode parameter to transparent as following :

<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />

There’s no 100% working fix for this problem but most of the time the above tricks do the job :)

Why do the rounded corners don’t show up with Internet Explorer ?

Rounded corners, gradients as well as text shadow are handled by the CSS styling. They belong to the CSS3 properties which are not all implemented, especially in old browsers. If you want to check the compatibility of CSS3 selectors or properties, you can have a look here.

If you really want those effects with old browsers (IE6, 7 and 8 for example), there are 2 possibilities : create images or use some scripts. Here are some links that may help you :
