I love this text effect plugin. I was wandering if it is at all possible to get the effect to display horizontally instead of vertically in IE8 or IE9. If it is not possible. how do you tell IE not to run the plug in. Works great in Firefox and Safari. I absolutely love this.

Thanx David :)

I had compatability view turned on in IE When I turned it off it works just fine.

Ok, perfect! If you have other questions, please let me know..

Sure will. Thank You :)

@soltun699 – Yeah. Right.

Look for a private message from me—I have a few questions about integrating pieces, text effects and the news ticker into a single resource. FYI – I’m building a web app that integrates all three of your products for a site with some super big ( I mean BIG ) celebrity connections. You gonna love my shyt. “Real talk” – as dey say in Nawlins’.

Folks – this is really great stuff when used tastefully. Plus, if you know a little somethin’ somethin’ about jQuery – you can really make this dog do some stupid tricks.

Thank you man!! :)

On your homepage for the plugin @ http://www.megalocode.com/cooltext/tutorials/using-cooltext-in-wordpress

Is it easy to get that awesome menu effect where the words break on hover? All the examples are in, out, mid!

thanks!

Hi, with either the jquery or wp version of cooltext that is easy. You have only to apply a mid effects on the menu items

Hi, first off great text effects!

Can this be used in Edge Animate at all?

thanks

Damian

Hi Damian, sorry for the delay. When you wrote me I was going to bed :) I don’t know Adobe Edge Animate. I can imagine it produces some css3 + javascript code. Potentially you could be able to apply CoolText to some of those elements, that are nothing more than html tags, but I’m not sure if this would be so easy to do. Sorry

Hi Do you have any news or update on the “animation pack with simpler effects” and the tool to create your own effects”? Thanks Jason

Hi Jason, I’m sorry but I’ve decided to stop developing plugins or to extend them. But I’ll keep supporting them.

That’s a shame I was getting excited about the simpler add-on pack

I’m sorry

Hi, I purchased this plugin about 2 days ago and I wanted to add some cool text effects to my navigation bar, like the names within the navigation bar, however, after placing the script and everything, when I hover over the words, nothing happens, could you help me please ?

Thank you.

Hi, thanks for purchasing! Of course I will help you. If you provide me a url or send me the files I’ll take a look at them and figure out what’s wrong

Thanks for the great plugin! And the excellent support. I’m having a small issue with an effect I applied to a div with both an image and text. It seems as if the image is being unwrapped and treated as text, or is being hidden by the animation script. Is there a workaround, or simple solution to this. I’ve provided a link to view the code below:

http://be-dev.net/twitter

Is there any way to do it dynamically? Right now, I’m pulling tweets using Twitter’s API and dynamically replacing http requests, usernames and hastags with the appropriate links.

I’m sorry, now here is evening. Tomorrow morning I’ll take a look at your website an answer to you

instead of

$('#usr'+animatetweet).cooltext(..)
try using
$('#usr'+animatetweet + ' .tweetprofilelink a').cooltext(..)
. This will (please check that I wrote it correctly) animate only the text inside the tag preserving all the other elements. And you could do the same with, for example, twitter time:
$('#usr'+animatetweet + ' .tweet-time a').cooltext(..)

Great plugin.

I have a page with a div. I fill in the html of that div with jquery (”#somediv”).html(“some text);

then I animate it with cooltext (”#somediv”).cooltext etc….

It works this first time, but if I try to use jquery again to change the html text and then fire the animation, I get the text but no animation.

I have tried using .stop and start methods and using the text parameters to no avail.

Any ideas on how to repeated use the animation as I change the text on the page?

it’s a private page but here is the function I call:

function bonusMessage(bonMsg){ });

$("#bonusmessage").text(bonMsg);
 $("#bonusmessage").cooltext({
sequence:[
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool33",
      elements:"words", // animate words instead of letters
      speed:120,        // increase animation speed to 120%
      stagger:250 // reduce delay between elements
   },
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool150",
      speed:100,
      stagger:100,
      order:"reverse" // animate the elements in reverse order
   },
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool275",
      order:"random" // animate the elements in random order
   },
]

}

Here is what ended up working. At the start of the function I create the div and at the end of the animation I remove the div.

function bonusMessage(bonMsg){ }).appendTo(’#bonusplaceholder’); });

//$("#bonusmessage").html(bonMsg);
 $("#bonusmessage").cooltext({
sequence:[
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool33",
      elements:"words", // animate words instead of letters
      speed:120,        // increase animation speed to 120%
      stagger:250 // reduce delay between elements
   },
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool150",
      speed:100,
      stagger:100,
      order:"reverse" // animate the elements in reverse order
   },
   {
      action:"animation",
      animation:"cool275",
      order:"random", // animate the elements in random order
],
 onComplete: function(){
     $( "#bonusmessage" ).remove();
     }
},

}

Well done!! That is exactly what I meant :)

Hey!

This is an awesome plugin and I’ve been using it for a while now.

I just need to know one thing – how can I drop the z-index on the text? For instance, when I open a lightbox gallery on a tablet, the h2 which has the text effect installed, displays above the lightbox gallery. I’d like this to be behind the lightbox gallery.

Perhaps there’s a css fix or a jquery fix?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for using CoolText. Simply adding a lower z-index to the div which you are animating should solve the problem. If you write me in private (using the form on my profile page) I’ll answer to you back attaching an example file

Thanks so much I’ll keep you posted! :)

A great library and fast, friendly and useful support from Megalacode. Recommended!

Thank you so much man! I’m glad that you like it :)

Hi, Can you help me understand why this isn’t working? I’ve tried using HTML and Javascript and I can’t get it to work either way, my text just becomes invisible. Thanks!

Nevermind, I figured it out! I am using also using tweenlite on my site and I needed to put tweenlite AFTER tweenmax in my header. Thanks :)

Hi, I was answering you through our ticketing system :) I’m glad you solved by yourself. Tweenmax already includes TweenLite. So you could avoid loading it. If you have any other questions please let me know. Tom

Hi, Thank you for cool product! Please, tell me how to use multiple id elements? I have on the page a few animated texts and I gave them a different ID. Do i need to create into file .js several id?

Hi, I’m sorry I didn’t understand exactly what you mean. If you want to apply CoolText to two elements you have to use a syntax like $("#your-first-element-id").cooltext(...); $("#your-second-element-id").cooltext(...); each one with its settings. Or if you want to apply the same animation for two elements you could use $("#your-first-element-id, #your-second-element-id").cooltext(...);. I hope this helps, Tom

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Clarify the issue. Let’s say I have a different element ID on page. Is it possible to make a universal cooltext.animations.js file work with various ID or do I have to specify all of the ID in this file?

Hi, you have to include cooltext.animations.js only once

Hi i’ve just bought your item, it’s cool! great product,

But do you have responsive example? I tried to find it in your examples but seems the responsive one isnt there, Thank you for your help.

Hi, thanks for purchasing! I’m glad you like it. Well, the plugin is responsive (so the text is animated the same way on all resolutions) but responsiveness has to be set up via css, using media queries. Basically, the plugin doesn’t affect your text css to not compromise your page style. So you should treat you text as you normally do. So, for example, if you have a responsive website with a text that change size on different resolutions and you apply the plugin on it, you’ll see it correctly animated on all resolutions

Hi, thanks for your response, Ok well understood, thank you!

Hi, i would like to know if it ’s work with adobe muse. thank you

Hi, honestly I’ve never used Adobe Muse. If the result is standard html I guess you can use the plugin on it.

can i use this with my prestashop app ??

Hi, yes sure

I having a problem that cool text is coming over my video. Please see the link client.sigmaseosolutions.com/geek and play the video. The problem is happening on safari and also on iphone(all browsers). please help as I have a deadline in two days

Hi, I’ve just trie on both Chrome and FF and the video is show over the text. Did you solve by yourself? Anyway it could be a z-index issue (in that case you have to assign a greater value to your text). Make also sure your youtube video has &wmode=transparent in the url

Thanks for your response. I am having a problem on Safari and on Iphone in both chrome & safari(responsive). Android and other browsers are working fine. Where in cooltext code can i cahnge its z index. Really appreciate your help. thanks

wish this could change colors as well, and overlay svg icons or other icons

hi, effects can be applied to any kind of text, no matter which style they have. Also, as shown in the “Animating other css properties” example here http://www.megalocode.com/cooltext/tutorials/use-cooltext-via-javascript you can also animate other css properties
