Been waiting for something like this. Thank you but when I go to the demo and login, there is no forum.

After reviewing your feedback we realized we did make the demo account too limited to give people the full experience of using this plugin. We have updated the user account to reflect this. Thank you again for making a purchase.

Hi there is no plugin inside the download folder!

Thank you for your purchase, we apologize for the trouble you are experiencing. The files will be updated as soon as possible. In the meantime, clicking the “Installable WordPress file only” option under the “Download” button will give you the Wordpress plugin.

THanks got it

Hi, you are expected to add shortcode to display a list of topics marked as Favorite by the logged in user?

Thank you for your interest in our plugin. A user’s favorite topics appear in their profile, a shortcode is not necessary for this specific feature.

Thanks for your help so far. I have created a forum home okay using the forum index. But i want to create pages for the categories. How can I do it so when someone clicks on a thread from the index, it shows the thread that uses the vc shortcode?

Awesome, I’m glad it is working for you!

I will look into the breadcrumb links, thank you for the feedback.

Hi. The breadcrumbs are working now, must of been cache issue. The only other area that needs the permalinks adding is when you go to a topic from the thread.

Glad to hear it, thank you for the update.

Currently, there is no good way in bbPress to implement the same permalink feature with topics.

I will be revisiting this plugin at a future date to try and find a more holistic solution to managing forums, topics, and their associated permalinks.

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to have some default content (made in Visual composer) over the bbpress forum. It is easy to paste the forum index under the content but as soon as you click on any of the forum links the customized content will disappear.

I purchased the plugin to see if it could be of help. But when I see it now this plugin does nothing else then having the bbpress shortcodes easily available in vc? So instead of pasting the short code into a wp-text element in vc you save yourself a couple of clicks.

Is this correct or am I missing something? And if you have some advice on my problem above I’m all ears. :-)

Best wishes with the plugin!

Lars

Hi Lars, thank you for making a purchase! The plugin also includes a feature that allows you to link forums to custom pages instead of the bbPress generated pages. In the forum edit page you will see a new metabox at the bottom named “bbPress for Visual Composer”, there you will find settings that allow you to link that forum to a custom page. In that custom page, you can include your customized content followed by a “Single Forum” element.

I hope this helps, have a nice day.

Thanks for your fast reply! That sounds absolutely brilliant. Only thing is that nothing happens when I go there. See print screen here: http://www.screencast.com/t/bEvX0neqIte

There is nothing to click or edit there. “Use custom permalink” is not clickable.

Don’t want to bother you considering that you’re selling the plugin pretty cheap but if you have any other suggestion it would be appreciated.

Best wishes Lars

No problem Lars, a fix has been submitted to CodeCanyon, when it is approved you should receive an email.

If you need the update sooner, feel free to send me an email with the contact form and I can send it to you as an attachment. The feature initially worked on all versions of Wordpress I tested it with, however I was able to replicate your problem after digging into it further.

Thanks a lot! Great. Now I assume it works but it does not what I was hoping. I have some custom Visual composer tabs and 1 visual composer FAQ above the forum – and I hoping to keep that content static even when you click a discussion thread. But as soon as you click on a discussion thread the VC-content disappears. See short video of it here:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sjqvjqm7q95xy0q/AACtUoKGAMVrEYIiOartEGJua?dl=0 I assuming that this plugin cannot help with this? Just want to make sure so I’m not missing out on something. Thanks for your help so far!!

You are correct, discussion threads will still use the page automatically generated by bbPress. A custom permalink feature for discussion threads would of meant creating separate pages for every new thread and did not seem scalable. We are still looking for a good solution that will preserve the original surrounding content for discussion threads. I appreciate all the feedback, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

After installing the plugin, I have no idea why it isn’t showing up in any of the pages/posts. I don’t know if I was suppose to enable it but I couldn’t find anyway to enable it. The only option I am able to use as of now is the redirecting of the forum pages to other customized pages and that option doesn’t work.

Well I figured out the problem with it not displaying. But my next problem is similar to a larshell above, I am trying to add content before the forum starts. The issue is that the forum pages do not redirect to the page I set it to redirect to, after that the content in the visual editor are not being displayed before the forum starts. I hope this all makes sense.

Hi b_greater, thank you for purchasing the plugin! I apologize for the trouble you are experiencing and would be happy to help. Let me know what theme and plugins you have activated on your website, and if possible, send links to the forum index and custom forum pages.

Hi! Thank you for your response. I am currently using the Untold Stories Theme that I purchased from themeforest.net (http://themeforest.net/item/fashion-blog-theme-untold-stories/12897880). The list of plugins that I currently have installed are Akismet, All in One WP Security, bbPress, bbPress for Visual Composer, Dynamic Widgets, Formidable, GD bbPress Attachments, Give – Donation Plugin, Hide Featured Image, Hide Title, IgniteUp, Instagram Feed WD, Jetpack, MaxButtons, Menu Icons, Post in Page, Sticky Menu on Scroll, Subscribe to Comments Reloaded, TJ Custom CSS, Ultimate Member, User Activity Log, W3 Total Cache, Widget Shortcode, Wordpress Importer, WPBakery Visual Composer, WPFront Scroll Top.

The Forum page is: http://www.curlswithattitude.com/forum/one/

The custom page I set for the forum to be redirected to is: http://www.curlswithattitude.com/forum/introductions (which is automatically going to 404 error page like it doesn’t exist)

I was having this same problem before I bought this plugin, I was thinking maybe it was an error with what I was doing because I used the shortcodes prior to purchasing this plugin.

Thank you for providing all the information. You will absolutely have this problem when trying to use the original bbPress plugin. The custom permalink feature is exclusive to bbPress for Visual Composer and is not included in the original bbPress plugin.

First thing you can try is clearing the caches for W3 Total Cache (http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/recommended-wordpress-plugins/clearing-cache-in-wordpress) and disabling the plugin. Caching can often be unpredictable and cause strange errors. If everything works with caching disabled, you can try enabling it again and it should continue to work.

Also, when I look at the links provided, both return a splash page with a “Page not found” title. If the permalink you are trying to use returns a 404, anything redirecting to it will do the same. Sometimes with Wordpress you need flush the permalinks when you notice all your pages and posts 404ing, instructions on how to do this are here https://typerocket.com/flushing-permalinks-in-wordpress/.

If none of these solutions solve the redirect issue you are having and you are comfortable with me accessing your website, you can provide me with account credentials so I can log in and gather more information about your problem.

I hope this helps, let me know how everything goes.

I figured it was the permalinks, but I just had to play with them. I’m guessing that’s what solved the problem with the pages not redirecting. Thank you so much!

Glad I could help! If you like the plugin, please take a moment to give it a review, it will always be appreciated.

Hello,

Wanted to say thanks for the awesome plugin, it has really helped me alot, I had a few issues/questions and would really appreciate any help:

1) How do you set permalinks for forum root to link to custom page, I am able to set custom pages for single forums but not the forum root, (since adding link to custom page is only available in the forum panel in wpdashboard and there is no option to select the forum root) the problem is on using breadcrumb navigation to go to forum root it loads the default page template for the forum and does not go to my custom page for the forums (which includes vc elements and bbpress shortcode of the forum index)

2) Will adding custom page templates to topics in the forums be included in plugin?

Thank-you for your time and help and Thanks again for the amazing work

regards,

Sameer

Hi Sameer, thank you for purchasing the plugin! I’m glad it has helped you.

1) The breadcrumb permalinks will work for single forums configured with custom pages, but not for the custom forum index. This feature will be included in the next update.

2) You are the second person to request this feature so it is now being strongly considered. I will keep you updated about any developments.

I appreciate the kind words Sameer, thank you for reaching out!

Looks Great! Best of luck with sales

I just want to add a widget to my page that shows THE latest forum post…not 15…?

Hi JeffreySummers,

Thank you for purchasing the plugin! I will do my best to help.

bbPress does not have this feature built in. If you are comfortable copy and pasting some code, you can add the following to the end of your theme’s functions.php file:

function bbp4vc_topic_index_query( $args = array() ) { $args[‘posts_per_page’] = 1; $args[‘max_num_pages’] = 1; return $args; }

add_filter( ‘bbp_before_has_topics_parse_args’, ‘bbp4vc_topic_index_query’ );

This code will force bbPress Topic Indexes to only show a single topic.

I hope this helps!

Getting a fatal error each time I activate. Have tried both with and woithout BBPress being previously installed.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tgmpa() (previously declared in /home2/slsoper/public_html/californiabudget.org/wp-content/plugins/bbpress-vc-addon/vendor/tgmpa/tgm-plugin-activation/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php:1927) in /home2/slsoper/public_html/californiabudget.org/wp-content/themes/act/includes/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php on line 2126

Hi slsoper, thank you for purchasing the plugin! Sorry you are having this issue.

The error message you posted is very helpful. It looks like the theme you are using is trying to manually include the TGMPA library instead of using the Composer autoloader. This means any plugin that uses TGMPA will probably have this issue.

Try going into the plugin’s directory, open file bbpress-vc-addon.php, and delete line 45.

Hopefully this will solve the issue without having to make any modifications to the Theme.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

I am a travel blogger and have recently downloaded the premium Visual composer plugin. I am looking forward to creating an online community where my readers can interact. Can I understand what is the difference between this plugin and Buddypress? Thank you in advance. Do check out my blog at Travelmax.in

What is this plugin for? I tried the online demo but it does not do anything, indeed bbpress is even more disgusting than usual. Of VisualComposer, then, there is no track on the site. Boh ….
