Great addon! GLWS!
Nice work!! Good luck!
Hi, is it possible to limit the CPU usage during the use of mysqldump? I ask since this usually pushes as much resources as possible, and I am concerned that it may slow down access to the site. Our dumps are close to 1GB already
I don’t think this is really possible since the cpu/memory taken by mysqldump depends on the size of the database and if it’s 1GB as you say, then high memory/cpu usage is not out of the ordinary.
I am not sure what options in mysql you have for tunning the dump action, but maybe some research would show some options that once set in my.cnf would ease this process.
Also, for the time being, you can maybe find an hour where your website doesn’t get that much traffic and schedule the backups then. Maybe don’t do them daily but once a few days if it’s an option.
Hope it helps.
Hey man, will buy this and the stripe extensions for sure. One question about backup, would you be willing to put an FTP function in there. So that we could schedule and send straight to an FTP server?
Yup, that sounds like a good addition to the library, will do in near future for sure
How do i revert to a backup using this plugin?
And Can I use it to move from one server to another? I build on a test server and I’m ready to move it?
From the web interface you can download the tar.gz archive with the backup, upload it on your new host, untar it and import the database and you should be ready to go.
The purpose of the extension is to backup not to handle restore on external servers so that’s something that needs to be done manually.
Hi, what are the chances of adding an amazon S3 integration? could you do it?
Currently i am too busy with mailwizz itself, so i can’t promise this.
Just bought, installed with one click and made my first back-up. Great extension. Peace of mind that everything is safe and backed-up for a small fee. Great extension for great software.
Hi, I’d like to buy this extension, but I’d need to also send those local backups to an S3 bucket (with proper settings to ‘Glacify’ the old archives).
Do I need custom scripting, right?
You are correct yes, you need to alter the extension and after the backup is completed, connect to aws and send the data over.
[2015-09-25 05:18:46] – Starting the backup process…
[2015-09-25 05:18:46] – Missing linux binaries to create the backup!
how to fix this problem
The extension requirements say you need to be able to access the mysqldump and the tar linux commands. If you get the above error is because the script cannot find them, so ask your host to make them available for you.
P.S: Please use the forum at https://forum.mailwizz.com for questions.
does this backup include MySQL database? how to restore?
Yes Mysql database is included in the archive of the backup. You can restore it via PHPmyadmin if it’s small enough, or via linux command line if it’s very large.
during update I got first a server error, then it gave me a red message could not write some SQL table, but now the dashboard starts fine Processed by version 18.104.22.168 in 0.115 seconds using 5.202 mb of memory / Does it mean the update was OK?? thanks
No idea, you should have ran the upgrade from command line if the database is bug since the web updater might timeout for various reasons.
P.S: Latest version is 22.214.171.124
Ok will see if it runs ok, whats new in the latest version ??
How much would you charge if I upgrade to 126.96.36.199 to do the update for me??
There’s a CHANGELOG file inside each archive you get from here from CodeCanyon that contains all the major changes done to the app in each version release
Related to upgrading for you, i simply don’t have the time to get into this now, you can post a job opportunity on the forums at https://forum.mailwizz.com/forums/job-opportunities/ since there are many talented devs on the forums that could help.
but that would take you maybe 10 minutes to do it for a customer, I don’t have time to look for someone
Hi, this plugin support upload the backup to external ftp?
No, but you can download the backup archive and save it manually where you wish.
i just buy this addon to make i bakup and restore on other server.. how can i do this? can you give a tutorial? i need all instrucions.
Install it as any other extension: https://kb.mailwizz.com/articles/install-extension/ then enable and configure it. Then from the left side menu, create a new backup.
Please use the forums at https://forum.mailwizz.com for support.
please, this is not what i said… I ask how to restore, not how to backup..
This is a backup tool, so it only does backup, you restore the files on your own. Unzip the archive, upload the contents on the server and import the database, that’s all. This is how you unzip from command line http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/tar-extract-linux/ if you’re interested.
Can backup manager assist with migrating to a new server?
Check this: https://kb.mailwizz.com/articles/migrating-mailwizz-to-a-new-server/
Is this backup plugin still supported and fully compatible with MailWizz latest version (V1.4.3)? Thanks
Yes, it will work just fine.
Does your backup manager support multiple backups version? Can I run backup, restore old backup, edit old data und copy xxxx, next I restore latest backup to recover und dann paste xxx that data I needed??
How does it compare to many other alternate of SQL und File backup scripts at CodeCanyon? $20 is $$$ for basic SQL dump.. What intelligence is inside? What compression level is compress before transfer to 3rd party storage? Compress formats?
Can it support WEBDAV destination too? z.b. box.net destination? Danke.
The backup manager is very simple, it does what it says it does, just backup of your database and files using linux’s tar and mysql dump commands.
Are you able to read?
Are you very simple?
Better to spend money on $5 backup script to automate regular backup of important file and database.
Why can you not read questions? Questions have ”?” at end of sentance.
$20 is needs to be 500% better than alternatives. $23 too much for something to run simple dump/tar command.
How can you call it a “Backup Manager” if it is, as you say, “simple” and “running TAR and MySQL dump commands”?? Calling it a “Manager” implies it can do what I asked you. Can you answer my original questions?
Alternatives Backup & Restore Systems
How does this $23 product compare to these alternatives?
Easy MySQL Backup & Restore @ $8
Ultimate Backup @ $8
MySQL Backup&Restore System @ $10
Ultimate PHP Site Backup @ $16
Backup Pro @ $16
Simple Backup Files and mySQL using PHP @ $19
You’re free to use whatever tool you think will fit better your needs, this tool is designed specifically for a purpose and if that’s not for you, no problem, move on, there are other backup tools that can do less or more.
As for the pricing, i value my work in a way while others value their work in other way, thus variable prices, this is what a free market looks like.
It’s called backup manager because it keeps a list of backups, allows you to download them or delete them.
Good luck with finding what you need.
