I see, so you need something to fetch exchangerates and convert currencies. Then this plugin can most probably give you what you want to achieve. However it is a solution that certainly needs adaptation for your needs.

If you feel comfortable with PHP reverse engineering, and coding in general, then you defenitly may use it as a building block, while getting out the necessary snippets. It shows how the api integration with certain exchangerate provider is established and how the exchange rates are calculated towards a target currency. So unless there is something existing for Codeigniter, I would say it can help you to get going. But just keep in mind, this is a fork of my main plugin for WorrdPress/WooCommerce…and thus is created as a Wordpress plugin, with backend administration and shortcodes for integration. Therefore no Payment Gateway integration, only currency exchangerate calculation and updates via APis.

Look, this plugin is basically a fork of my PayPal Currency Convert Pro plugin for WooCommerce. So it is a standalone version that only does currency conversion that can be automated by fetching from a set of available exchange rate provider. It was created for a particular car rental system created for Wordpress. It does not come with a PayPal payment gateway. I suggest you send me a private message via profile if you want further discussion.

For now I can only imagine, that your altcoin is a digital download and you want to sell it for USD. In this case your shop currency could be your custom altcoin currency with its custom currency conversion to USD. And one digital product unit equals one altcoin(or fractions of it)...does make sense? After all, it is probably a good code base to start with.

Look, this is a plugin that allows you to use shortcodes in your Payment Gateway plugin. However you need to do the code changes on your own. Since there are so many different codestyles and aproaches to establish a payment gateway plugin there is no general way of integrating this.
