Purchased this as I thought it would fit my need. But to be honest, I’m completely in the blank. I’ve set things up as documented but when I open my website, I’m left with a blank page. The added css files completely screw up my website and nothing shows. Some serious help would be appreciated.
Can you contact me at hello(at)nadlabs.co.uk with an online link + ftp login details to your site (to the folder where commentsEngine is installed) – with read/write permissions.
Hi! It´s possible to comment without registration/login?? I need it, but without this option. I mean,I want that a non-registered user or anonymous user can comment…
Sorry for my english!
Yes it is possible but it would require some small changes to the code (maybe a few lines) and to create a dummy/fake account “anonymous” in your database.
I can help you with if you like.
hello, im intrested in purchasing this item, but is there a way to make comments to apear in real time? can u make the upgrade and how much will it coast? my mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
Just emailed you about this.
Like the question before (tiranox85), is it possible posts and replies to update the list without page refresh?
Yes it’s possible. You’ll need to change two lines of code (well, I just tested it out so if you purchase the script I can just send the updated file through to you) and it will re-load the comments without the page being refreshed.
If you have any other questions let me know.
I love this script. I would like to purchase it, but i was wondering. Can it have anonymous commenting and voting. Plus would it be possible to change the appearance of the voting. have it automatically reload. Have the comments in realtime so the users don’t have to click reload to see new comments.
When you say anonymous do you mean without a user account or simply without showing the users details on screen next to the comment?
Currently you do need an account but to change the system to hide “anonymous” users details may not be too difficult.
In terms of changing the voting do you mean reloading the vote value? This most probably would not be too hard to implement but it does not currently work like that.
Finally the real-time loading of comments. This would require a bit of work to get functional – it’s an interesting feature that I may bring out for future releases but it’s not available in the current version.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank You for the reply. As far as anonymous users. I meant having anonymous users being able to vote. And the voting i was wondering if it was possible to change the thumb up and down to text instead of pictures.
Currently the system does not have a system for anonymous users – I guess it would not be to hard to code that into the system but would require some work.
Yes you can change the voting images to text if you like. This would be quite simple.
Hi! I´ve recently bought the script. I installed it, and it works fine.
But when I tried to integrate with my site i`m having some trouble (i think with js and pathing). If you could help me I would be very grateful.
Im sending you an email with details.
Just replied to your email with information request.
Your like the best support staff ever got a suggestion tho u need to added a bad word filtering to get those cuss word out
That’s a great suggestion. I’ll try to get this done in the next few days. if you want to send me an email as a reminder I’ll send the updated files directly to you before uploading here.
Hi, how I can integrate this system with my users database? I only want that the registered users can comment. Sorry if my English isn´t good
It’s not hard. You just need to make sure you have a few things set up like a $_session[‘userid’] when a user logs in to your existing system and a few other things.
If you contact me via my profile page or on hello(at)nadlabs.co.uk I will try to send you a copy of some instructions so you can see how easy it is.
I sent you an email
I’ve replied to your email.
I followed the instructions to a t and it does not work. I can go to the demo folder and it works and then if I go in and change all the pathes to the js files it will start to get better, but I would like to get some better instructions.
Can you contact me via my profile page ( http://www.codecanyon.net/user/nadlabs ) with more information about what does not work and if possible a link of where you have installed it as from you comment alone I cannot work out what you are having problems with.
Also did I miss the part where users can sign up. I do not see anything in your help files?
The commentsEngine has a “mock” sign-in system just for testing/demo purposes.
The main aim of the commentsEngine is to plug in/connect to your existing user management system so it does not have it’s own sign-in/signup area.
Why can’t visitors leave their rating?
Me rating other comments is far less important…
Do you mean leaving an overall rating for a particular page? Say for example like on a video on youtube?
If so then I have another app for that:
Let me know if that answers you’re question.
Hi, i’m interested in buying but like alerma, i want the people to comment without registration. Is this really possible?
Yes it is possible. If you have a table of existing users then all you need to do is create a dummy account of say “anonymous” and then default a non-signed in user to that account in their session.
If you don’t have any user table and want to allow people to enter their name/website etc at the point when they comment then you will need to create a mini user table in the database (or use the one that comes with commentsEngine) to hold this data. This method will require a bit of re-coding but nothing too hard or complex.
I think this would be a great addition to my site…with a single addition. I would like to add set of radio buttons to classify the site comment. Once submitted, the comment would be routed via email to the email(s) with a link to the COMMENT.
For example, there would be a table such as CommentClass and it would have fields CLASS and USERNAME. Every CLASS would get a radio button in the comment form. The user entering the comment would have to choose the radio buttons/CLASS which apply to the comment. When the comment is submitted, all USERNAMEs listed in CommentClass with this CLASS value would get an email/link to the comment.
What do you think? Feel free to provide me with a proposal. It appears you do nice work.
This would not be to difficult to do though I would use a drop down rather than radio buttons (depending on how many classes of comment you have).
If you want me to do some custom work on this please get in touch at hello (at) nadlabs.co.uk and we can discuss it in more detail.
If you want to have a go yourself I can provide guidance as to which files to tackle.
Will this work on an ANDROID browser?
I’ve responded to your other question.
I’ve not tried/tested it on tablet based browsers though I don’t see why it should not.
Are you having any issues in particular? Let me know and I will see if I can find a fix for it.
No. We had an issue with the Android when we attempted to write our application from scratch. We will keep you informed.
Good day to buy your script and it seems good
My question is
as I can remove the post deleted?
- this comment has-been removed by the moderator
Do you want to remove the comment when the moderator clicks “delete” (meaning straight away) OR do you want to the system to stay as it is BUT use some SQL to remove all “deleted” comments later?
Let me know and I will send you either an updated “delete” file or the SQL.
thanks for your reply, it would remove all the correct message from the database, another question, how do I sort messages oldest to newest?
On the front end there should be a drop down with “order comments by” with lots of options including “order comments by oldest first”.
In the database itself in the “comments” table you want to order by the “dateofpost” field.
Let me know if that’s what you where looking for.
Does this script have a login / signup feature?
I ask because you aren’t showing it in the demo, you are simply creating a session for a test user. Is this script meant to somehow be tied into an existing user system?
If not, can you show what the login, register, forgot pass, etc. pages look like?
This is a ‘comments’ plug-in that connects to your existing user management system using some basic php session variables.
I also have a full featured user management system on sale at codecanyon which can be found here:
Let me know if you need any other information.
Can this be easily integrated with UserBase? Is it possible not to downgrade bad ratings? And is a rating based on stars, apart from user comments possible too?
Yes this can be integrated with userBase. I can send you instructions on this.
Not sure what you mean by downgrading bad ratings.
With regards to star ratings – do you mean for each comment? This would require some custom coding for it to work.
Great that it can be integrated! But it’s possible to post anonymous (so without an user account) too, right?
What I want is users be able to vote for an item and that they can accompany this vote with a comment if they want. Offcourse if they don’t want to comment but only vote that should be possible too. Is only voting possible with this script?
With don’t downgrade comments I mean the following feature “?Automatically hides low rated comments.”
It would possible to change the code slightly to allow users to post anonymously. That should not be too hard.
You can change the code so it does not hide low rated comments. This should not be too hard either.
With regards to the voting. The star rating will have to be added to the system from scratch as currently you can only rate a comment, not an “item”.
You would need custom coding to get this to work – yes you should also be able to allow ratings with no comments but again it would require custom coding to get this to work.
Let me know if that answers you’re questions.

I would like users to be able to comment without registering. Just enter their name and website and then add a comment. If you can give me a price for how much you would charge to implement this then I will buy a copy.
I normally charge an hourly rate (currently £20/hour) but as a rough estimate I would say it would be about £20 or so – give or take.
if you want a detailed conversation please contact me via my profile page (http://codecanyon.net/user/nadlabs).
Great stuff. I’ve sent you an email. Let me know how you wish to proceed. Cheers
I’ve replied to your email. let me know if that got through to you.
