help me .. please

Hi! First off, awesome plugin! I had a question about the possibility of removing the 256mb limit on file uploads?

Thanks for insight. David

Hello,

The limit is not related to the Plugin, but to the Hosting. you can remve it via php.ini file (max_upload_filesize attribute).

Regards,

davidpetersen wrote, he was wondering about removing the 256mb limit on file uploads, to which you replied, that it’s the issue of the hosting.

if my users are uploading with this plugin, the files should go directly to s3, bypassing my hosting. that’s the whole point of s3, right?

i cannot put 4GB as the upload limit into my php.ini, my hoster won’t allow it. does it mean, this plugin won’t work for me?

Default-user

Hi,

Indeed, the files uploaded via this plugin won’t be stored in your server (not even temporary), but they are directly uploaded to S3.

But, although the files are uploaded to S3, to process the upload the file must be passed by your server, so you must increase the capacity of your PHP server, especially the post_max_size value.

Good news is I’m working on a new version, that will allow customers to upload very large files (TBs) with little post_max_size (as little as 20MB). It will be released in a month.

even if i have to renegotiate with my provider, this plugin still helps me out a lot.

do you provide some kind of api, so that once a file has been uploaded, i can update a custom field with it’s url?

also: in the online preview of your plugin you cannot go back “up” in your folder structure, once you’ve entered a folder. you have to refresh the whole page to see the root directory again. so if you enter a folder in the s3 browser, you are trapped.

Hi,

At the moment there is no API, but I can add it if it’s necessary, (I got a couple of requests to add an API).

In the online preview, I disabled the navigation feature (breadcrumbs), that’s why it doesn’t work there.

Please don’t forget to rate the plugin if you like it :)

Hi

I have installed your plugin. Unfortunatly, I always get a failure during the install progress.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Symfony/Component/ClassLoader/UniversalClassLoader in … on line 62.

Would you be so kind to give me a hint on how to solve that problem, please?

Default-user

Hi,

Can you post the full error message?

Also, What version of PHP are you using?

Thx for getting back to me.

PHP: 5.4

The full error message is:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Symfony\Component\ClassLoader\UniversalClassLoader in /var/customers/webs/arno/wp-dvvc/wp-content/plugins/wp_aws_s3/lib/Symfony/Component/ClassLoader/UniversalClassLoader.php on line 62

Hello,

That’s weired. My first guess would be that there is some conflict with other plugins that are currently installed in your WordPress site.

Can you send me a list of plugins you have installed? you can email me at: hilali.redwan@gmail.com

how do I find out what version php I have to see if I am compatible with your plugin

Default-user

Hi,

You put <?php phpinfo(); ?> in a file (phpinfo.php), and go to domain.com/phpinfo.php, the version should be displayed at the top.

If it’s 5.3 or higher, it’s good, otherwise, you should upgrade the version.

Hello,

Is there a way to display only the upload box (drag & drop) in the front end ? I only want the users to upload stuff and I don’t want them to see the folders contents.

Thanks ! Jonathan

Response sent by email.

Hello,

I’m experiencing some issues with the upload size limit. I’m using this plugin as a submissions uploader for music files which tend to be between 20mb – 50mb. The plugin, however, appears to limit file uploads at 30mb.

To attempt correcting this I set the PHP.ini file at:

post_max_size = 1000M upload_max_filesize = 1000M

In the wp-content\plugins\wp_aws_s3\ui\front\upload_file.php and wp-content\plugins\wp_aws_s3\ui\admin\upload_file.php files I set:

,maxFilesize:2000

Unfortunately, I’m still limited to 30mb. Any help or thoughts you may have to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Jessica

Default-user

Hello,

Maybe it’s the hosting that does not allow for more than 30mb? Can you put a phpinfo file inside the WP directory and check that the upload_max_filesize is not overwritten by default values from the hosting.

Regards,

Default-user

Hi RedhopIT,

Thanks so much for your quick reply. We managed to get it working!

It turns out there were two issues:

- IIS has a default max upload size of 30M (see http://www.webtrenches.com/post.cfm/iis7-file-upload-size-limits) - PHP script execution was timing out (see http://www.sitepoint.com/upload-large-files-in-php/)

Again thanks for your help.

Best, Jessica

Hi RehopIT,

I’m having one more slight issue. When uploading multiple files, the progress bar will fill up all the way, however, only one out of however many files I’m uploading will display the check mark. The rest will look like they are still uploading.

When I close out of the upload window and refresh the page, all files will be in the folder I uploaded them to. So it seems they are uploading but only one file will actually show the green check mark. Any thoughts on how to rectify this so all will show the check mark?

Best regards, Jessica

Hello Jessica,

I’m trying to reproduce your issue, but I couldn’t. Do you have a live preview of your WordPress site where I can see the issue? please send me the link in private message (hilali.redwan@gmail.com)

RedhopIT,

Thanks for your work on this much needed plugin. I purchased and added it to a fresh wordpress install with Roots theme, which uses bootstrap.

It seems there is a jquery issue – when I use the shortcode for a browser on a page, clicking on the image files does nothing. The javascript error is “function undefined” on line 4 of aws-main.js. I confirmed that jquery (from google’s CDN) is loading bofore aws-main.js. To try to fix this, I edited your wp-aws-s3.php where bootstrap.js and bootstrap.css are enqued. I changed it so they’re only included in admin, because the theme already includes them for the site. This didn’t fix the issue. Clicking on a .zjp file downloads fine. Clicking on a .jpg or clicking refresh does nothing. These work fine within the admin, where I presume there’s no jQuery conflict.

What should I try?

Hi,

I need some extra features in the AWS S3 Browser. We spoke some months ago about it. Are you still willing to customize it for me?

i’m not shure what you mean, I tried the gmail address we used back then but that didn’t seem to work. How do I email you from your profile? grt wart

here: http://codecanyon.net/user/RedhopIT scroll down and you’ll see a contact form.

I just need to know your email address, because I have currently several customization requests and I reply to each one once I’m available to work on it.

Would this work for us to create a generic “uploader” page on our Wordpress website for clients to upload large files directly to our S3 account? Thanks!

Default-user

Hi,

Yes, You can embed the File Browser into any page or post.

The file browser will have an “Upload” button that will allow people to upload new files (Drag & Drop).

Great plugin!

Is it possible to have the bucket element URLs without the SWSAccessKeyID – Expires – Signature in them?

example: mysite.s3.amazon.com/pdfs/example.pdf?AWSAccessKeyID=123&Expires=456&Signature=789

would just like: mysite.s3.amazon.com/pdfs/example.pdf

Thank you

Default-user

Hi,

Yes, this would be possible, but only if you make the files “public”. anyone can view/download them.

Thank you for the quick reply Red,

All of my files are public, however the URLs in the plug-in still has these variables on them. I can remove the variables in the browser address bar and it displays fine. Can I remove something from the core plug-in code to omit these variables from the path in the bucket list window? We have over 500 pdfs to copy links from, so this would be a big help if it can be done.

rvpm Purchased

Hi Red,

In the list_object.php file, I removed: , ‘+10 minutes’ from the $url string and that omitted what I needed. Everything seems to be working as it should. So if you think I’ll be okay, I’m all set, otherwise, I would still take your recommendation.

Thank you

Default-user

Hi,

If all your files are public, and you want people to be able to download the files anytime, then you’re all set. removing the signature from URL won’t affect anything else.

Will this work with WP 3.9.1?

Yes, it’s compatible with WP 3.9.1

2 months ago you mentioned “Good news is I’m working on a new version, that will allow customers to upload very large files (TBs) with little post_max_size (as little as 20MB). It will be released in a month.”

Do you have an update for us? I use a high end shared hosting (GoGeek on Siteground), but it still – understandably – has limits set by the provider.

Thanks Red.

Default-user

Hi,

That version is still not released yet, still working on some bugs and UI improvement.

I’ll let you know once it is released.

Regards

Hi, I’d also be very interested on the release date of an update which would work on a host with a tight upload file size restriction. Please do keep me updated on this.

Thanks Alex.

Is there any way to get a notification when someone uploads something? I want to know when a client uploads something. Thanks!

Default-user

Hi,

Actually there is no built-in feature within the plugin to achieve this, but you can do this in Amazon side:

Hello, I’m interested in purchasing the plugin, and I have one question – uploading large files in chunks to avoid PHP upload limit. I see several people have asked about it.

I’ve been searching for a solution to this, and there are a couple of possibilities – Plupload, Fine Upload, etc. – but all seem to require modern browsers (no IE<10).

Are you still planning to include the chunking feature? It would really save me the trouble of building it from scratch.. :) Thank you.

Default-user

Hi,

Yes, still working on chunk uploads and resuming uploads.

Cannot give an exact date of release, but it’s on the way.

Thank you for the reply! That’s great to hear that the feature is planned and in progress. I purchased the plugin, and I’m looking forward to implementing it on our site.

Default-user

Cool! I’ll keep you posted once I release the new version, you can also subscribe to my updates here: http://eepurl.com/Ujg2L, you’ll get notified when the plugin is out.

Eagerly waiting for the chunk uploads feature too, please release it asap ! :)

Default-user

Subscribe here: http://eepurl.com/Ujg2L, you’ll get notified once it’s out :) Not only chunk uploads, but ralso ability to resume and upload (to avoid re-uploading large file if you lose connection..)

After reading other comments for my answer I submit this question. How easy is it to automatically create a single user access only folder? I want each user to have their own folder/browser where they can upload to and select from into a post.

I also want to have custom fields in the upload page (ie., Image, Title) These custom fields will be columns in the users folder browser. Is this a customization?

Default-user

Hi,

Yes, this is a customization, and not a built-in feature. Which membership plugin are you using? or are using the default user management feature by WordPress?
