Hey there,

Amazing looking plugin. I’ll be buying this in a few days to add to my site, but I have a concern – currently, the preview on your site doesn’t work for me. I’m simply stuck on a blank screen after it says loading weather information. I really want to see the various weather effects before purchasing, but more importantly, I think it’s best for you to know the display isn’t working for everyone, which is likely hurting sales. Additionally, when you scroll to the top of the page to click on the other options, I’m forced back down to the widget, making it VERY hard to press any of the top navigation links (on the first page, not the showcase page).

This is the url, Windows 8.1, Intel Iris Pro 5200, latest Chrome browser. http://kreaturamedia.com/weatherslider-wordpress-weather-showcase/

I’m looking forward to buying this, and hopefully testing it before doing so!

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback. I believe we may have exceeded our API limits, but we will look into this as soon as possible. In the meantime, please try again in a later time, this issue should be temporarily.

I’m not sure what do you mean on the second issue with the navigation links. Could you describe this in a little more detail, please?

When on that page, if I scroll down to look at the content below (example / features), then scroll back up to the top, the area code pop-up shows up (with my area code of 05401 already displayed). As soon as this pop-up hides itself, the page forces me back down to focus on the widget example, preventing me from clicking on any of the 3 navigation buttons on the top right (demo, showcase, features). Basically that area code pop-up is displaying / hiding itself at random (I’m not hovering over it, just further up the page, to click on that navigation), and the page is auto focusing down below each time.

As for exceeding the API usage, is that on a per account basis? For example, does that effect your users of the widget, or do we get our own accounts / api usage? I assume the numbers are quite high, and that it’s just your account, but I just wanted to be sure. Also, just to be clear, the weather slider widget demo works, it’s the weather showcase (with the options) that doesn’t.

I’ll check back shortly, or feel free to drop a response when it’s back up (I get emails on follow-up to this). Thanks for the quick response!

I’m not sure what the issue can be. I also tested it with Crome and I wasn’t able to reproduce this issue and nobody else reported it so far.

The API usage is on a per account basis, you can register your own API key on World Weather Online’s site. We also have an option for caching to avoid issues like this.

Odd, as I’m not running any odd extensions or toolbars that would interfere (pretty clean install over here). I just tested it again, and know the exact cause. Basically, whenever the mouse is hovering over the app, the zip code pop-up appears up top. As soon as the mouse leaves the app (not even clicking, just leaves the area), it disappears, which causes the zip code pop-up to retract, which then forces the focus down. If I move the mouse up the right side of the page, not on the app, the pop-up never comes out, and I never end up closing it, and all is well. Try scrolling so you can see the top of the page, hover over the app, then move the mouse off of the app to the right – the page should jump down. It’s worth noting it’s not a resolution issue, as I’m at 1920×1080.

On that note, it’s a very minor issue, and if the API is per account, all is well. I’ll go ahead and buy it now, as it looks great, your ratings are high, and you’ve been excellent with communication. I just realized I’m grabbing the Wordpress version, but have been commenting on the jQuery version – glad I noticed.

The location bar when you hover over the widget should not overlap the top navigation area. If you’re use zooming in your browser there could be some issues with the sizing, but it’s normal and isn’t related to the browser.

Hi. This looks interesting bo the translation options….

Is it possible to show it in fullscreen? i want to feed it to digital signage screen…(1280×720)

kreatura

Hello,

You can use any size you want between 240×200 and 1300×600 pixels. These limitations are required because of the graphics elements.

Is Fahrenheit an option?

kreatura

Hello,

Yes, there is an option to change the measurement from metric to imperial.

At least for my locations in Germany the service foreca.com has much more accurate data. Maybe you could add that service for use in the future :-)

kreatura

Hello,

We are using the Word Weather Online database with our plugin. You can check the locations on their site (http://www.worldweatheronline.com/) to see which one is available. What exactly is the problem with your location ?

The forecast and the actual weather data is more exact from foreca.com rather than from WWO. No problem with the technique or plug-in itself :) it’s just a suggestion…

kreatura

We will check the possibility to implement getting weather data from foreca.com but I’m not sure that they have a well detailed free weather service.

Issues with WPBakery’s Visual Composer tabs. White text appears, but that’s all.

- http://atlasadventuretravel.com/weathersliderworks Shortcode typed in to a standard WP editor text area (e.g. no Visual Composer). Works OK.

- http://atlasadventuretravel.com/weathersliderissue Shortcode typed into a text editor box placed into TAB element. DOESN’T work.

kreatura

Hi,

VC tabs are hiding WeatherSlider when it initialises and browsers have some restrictions about working with hidden elements. I’m afraid there is no easy solution to fix this issue.

MRMinSF

Ok, thanks for getting back to me on this. I went ahead and purchased a different weather slider that has built-in support for VC and it’s working fine. Thanks anyway.

Hello, I think there is a problem with the API… I’ve bought your plugin and it’ doesn’t work anymore since yesterdy (even in your demo). Could you please have a look and fixe it ASAP please ?

Thanks

kreatura

Hello,

For me it appears to be fine, so I’m not sure what the issue can be. Maybe there was a brief problem with WWO’s services.

BTW i have another question, is it possible to retrieve and display the weather by hour if i buy a premium key from WWO ?

Thanks,

kreatura

I’m also having this issue with the plugin not working anymore. Any resolution for the problem?

kreatura

Hello,

There might be a brief problem with WWO’s services. Does this issue still present on your site?

Is it possible to stop the animations and images overflowing / breaking out of the container?

kreatura

The spot bubbles have to overflowing the borders of the image but I don’t know maybe I misunderstood you question. Could you, please tell me more details / show me your site with the plugin?

Default-user
HI, you have the container div which you apply the plugin to. I would like to stop the images (after animation) still being sat outside of the container. Here is an example with the overflowing parts; http://tinypic.com/r/wlxclz/8

Using firebug or similar and inspecting the elements, you can see they overflow quite a lot.

We are using this as a dashboard widget and as you can see the overflow causes issues as it goes in front of buttons and other widgets.

Thanks in advance.

kreatura

I’m sorry I was sent a wrong answer. Unfortunately you cannot change this, but you can add an overflow: hidden !important; style property to the weatherslider element, in this case the images won’t “break out” of the container.

Default-user

I see thanks for the tip. I have worked it out in the code and its very easy to implement. This would be a nice option to have so if you’d like the code for a future version, please let me know

kreatura

Thank you for your feedback.

I just purchased this plugin and set it up on my site. (SharePoint cloud) It is working OK with one caveat:

Is there a way to call the http://api.worldweatheronline.com/free/v1/weather.ashx?key=... with https instead? My site is on https and I am getting security prompts when the http://api.worldweatheronline.com/free/v1/weather.ashx?key=... address is called. I couldn’t use this plug-in if I can’t get it to work with https to prevent prompting the users on a security issue.

Any ideas?

Also, what is the ETA on the cache feature?

kreatura

We uploaded the latest version with HTTPS support today. We hope that Envato will approve it soon.
