Hi, I am using thesis, which also uses timthumb (thumb.php), how can i tell ubermenu to use a different path to timthumb

thanks

sevenspark

Hi diver66,

UberMenu’s timthumb path is defined in ubermenu.php line 20

define('UBERMENU_TT', UBERMENU_PLUGIN_URL.'timthumb/tt.php');

However, you can have two copies of timthumb if you want to.

If you have further support requests, please submit them here, thanks!

Hi Chris, thanks for your excellent work.

I have one Questinon: How ist it possible to “float:left” the mega menu (Genesis Theme)?

Thanks in advanced an best wishes Tom

sevenspark

Hi Tom,

Glad you like UberMenu :)

To float the menu left, you would just add

#megaMenu{
  float:left;
}

(Also, don’t forget to deactivate the Full Width Menu Bar option in the Basic Configuration if you only want the bar to be as wide as the menu items).

Of course, the final positioning is dependent on its container as well. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me here with a link to your site.

Sorry Chris… float to left is standard.. i mean float to right ;). on the advanced settings menu i tested the center option.. that works very well but i would like to have the menu bar to the right side.

Thanks Tom

sevenspark

Hi Tom,

In that case, you would simply change it to:

#megaMenu{
  float:right;
}

If that doesn’t do what you need, please contact me here with a link to your site and I will take a look.

Chris

Hi, I have a problem concerning the styling. When I activate the WP Plugin the whole styling on my Buddypress page compose.php disappears. Any idea how this can happen? I would really appreciate your respond. Best regards!

Hi medienfeuer,

I haven’t ever heard of anything like that, sorry. If you’d like to send me an email with details of how I can view the issue firsthand, I’ll take a look for you. :)

Hey Chris,

Great Plugin!

How do I get the my icon to display at the beginning of the menu as in your menu display in your documentation?

~Cheers

sevenspark

Hi proch,

To use an icon as a menu item, you set a thumbnail as usual ( http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#mega-images ) and then disable the text ( http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#mega-images-notext )

Hope that helps!

Hi There,

I’ve been busy trying to get Ubermenu to play nice with the theme I have running ( Boldy by Site5) which uses ddsmoothmenu.

I haven’t been able to get the child menu’s to size properly:

www.xelion.nl

I’ve been going through the support manual and been trying to remove ant residual styling.

My header contains this: <?php if ( function_exists( ‘wp_nav_menu’ ) ){ wp_nav_menu( array( ‘theme_location’ => ‘main-menu’, ‘container_id’ => ‘mainMenu’, ‘container_class’ => ‘ddsmoothmenu’, ‘fallback_cb’=>’primarymenu’) ); }else{ primarymenu(); }?> <!- END MAIN MENU ->

<!- BEGIN MAIN MENU ->

any changes I make in this result in the menu reverting to primarymenu.

I’ve also tried adding stuff to my css but that didn’t help much either.

Any suggestions?

Thanx

If I buy this item…can you help me integrate it properly into my theme? My friend used it on the same theme I want to and it doesn’t fit properly. Would you be willing to help?

sevenspark

Hi Michael,

Sure thing, assuming your theme meets the compatibility requirements (see http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#requirements ), and is not listed as a “Known Exception”.

What theme do you wish to integrate with?

Best,

Chris

updated to 2.0, spent now 4hours in trying to get same result as in previous version.

at first let me congratulate you, the present style-generator is a good step forward.

1) style-generator produces following warning: Warning: stripslashes() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/.sites/41/site159/web/wp-content/plugins/_ubermenu-20/ubermenu.php on line 328

2) style-generator does not save to custom.css as cited

3) submenu link is bold by default, from within generator I cannot change that

4) submenu headers have no hover-background

5) my submenus produce a funny width, showing 2 columns but about 3 columns width.

I would suggest a feature that makes it fully open to developers: just use in style-generator an option for Menu/submenu-header/submenu-link (level1, level2 …) to add css-code that will be applied, like

because its pretty much un-decodable to change the css, as its so complicated.

maybe you write me a PM to check on the “submenu width” problem.

tx a lot, Heli

sevenspark

Helir,

1. Thanks, I’ll look into this. This issue should only occur once, since you updated, and should resolve once you save your styles. If it causes an issue, please post a support request here: http://support.sevenspark.com

2. The Style Generator is not supposed to save to custom.css. It saves to stylegenerator/skin.css. custom.css is for manual CSS styling. Please review the guide closely. http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#style-generator

3. Submenu headers are bold by default, and can be adjusted in the Style Generator. Sub menu links are not bold by default, but they may be inheriting styles from your theme that make them bold. You can customize this with custom CSS styles.

4. The Style Generator is intended to offer easy settings for the most common styling needs. Unfortunately, not every style type can be included, or the options would become overwhelming. If your needs expand beyond what the Style Generator offers, you can customize futher using custom CSS . Think of the Style Generator as a launching point.

5. Submenu column widths depend on your settings. Please see the guide’s extensive section on Layouts, especially http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#jquery-enhanced . If you’re still having trouble, feel free to submit a support request here: http://support.sevenspark.com with a link to your site and I’ll take a look.

6. You can add custom CSS in UberMenu > Style Configuration > Custom CSS , or you can copy the code created by the Style Generator into the custom.css file to customize it, as detailed in the guide http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#customize . The presets skins are well-commented so you can determine what styles you need to use from those. You can also use the Customization Assistant to guide you: http://wpmegamenu.com/customizer/

I can’t PM you because you’re not an author. If you want to submit a support request, you can do so here: http://support.sevenspark.com

I am working now over 6 hours to simply reproduce the last working menu, a simple 2 column menu without any fancy features – its a pain in the a…..

Now we lost in Ubermenu-Version 2.0 the menu-option “maximum-submenu-width” in the style generator that made it kind of possible to determine the Number of columns shown.

as far as I can remember (I am back now in v. 1.1.3) we also lost “minimum-column-width” in the style-generator

so everything regarding width and columns is calculated, and the calculation of the widths … seems to be inscrutable for me.

finally: the new manual is beautiful but it lacks again a understandable help for creating custom.css

http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#MEGA-FAQ-Custom-CSS

the link you provide is not working—> http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#MEGA-custom-styles-css

and the css-code is so dense, that I cannot check it out.

why not simply provide a one page manual that references the used css-tags because I simply get lost in long lists of

megaMenu ul li.ss-nav-menu-mega ul.sub-menu li ul.wpmega-postlist div.wpmega-postlist-title a{

and its very hard to debug the css of a menu in firebug, when I see following long list of “class” names.

    Helir,

    I am working now over 6 hours to simply reproduce the last working menu, a simple 2 column menu without any fancy features – its a pain in the a…..

    Sorry you’re having trouble, but I think your issues stem from not reading the guide. I know it’s a lot, but it is well organized and needs to be read. The majority of your questions are answered in the guide.

    Now we lost in Ubermenu-Version 2.0 the menu-option “maximum-submenu-width” in the style generator that made it kind of possible to determine the Number of columns shown.

    With the new system, this setting no longer makes sense, so it was removed. You can read about how to make different numbers of columns shown here: http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#pure-css

    as far as I can remember (I am back now in v. 1.1.3) we also lost “minimum-column-width” in the style-generator

    This is still available, right at the end of the “Sub Menu Level” section of the Style Generator.

    so everything regarding width and columns is calculated, and the calculation of the widths … seems to be inscrutable for me.

    This is all explained in the guide. Column widths are either determined naturally (by the widths of their content), or are divided into even columns if you are using full-width submenus. http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#jquery-enhanced

    finally: the new manual is beautiful but it lacks again a understandable help for creating custom.css

    I updated the link, thanks. But the section on customizing was easily accessible by clicking the “Customizing UberMenu” link in the left menu bar, then clicking “Fully Custom CSS ”.

    why not simply provide a one page manual that references the used css-tags because I simply get lost in long lists of and its very hard to debug the css of a menu in firebug, when I see following long list of “class” names.

    UberMenu provides an incredible amount of out-of-the-box customization ability. If you want to customize your menu beyond that, it requires some work. That being said, I have made it as easy as possible for you to customize. I’ve provided a detailed guide, explaining how things work. I’ve thoroughly commented the style presets, so you can use them as examples to see how different code effects the menu. I’ve provided a LESS stylesheet for each preset, so that they can be easily customized. I’ve created a robust Style Generator to make it easy for people who aren’t CSS experts – clearly this cannot cover every conceivable use case without becoming unwieldy, so it takes care of the most common use cases, and acts as a foundation for further, manual customizations. I’ve built a customization assistant so that you can get the styles you need even if you aren’t proficient with Firebug. At the end of the day, if you’re unhappy with all that, I honestly don’t know what to tell you, sorry. If you need customizations beyond what these features offer, and are having trouble doing it yourself, it may be time to hire a freelance developer to assist you. Try to keep in mind that you received this upgrade free of charge, even though it represents a huge investment on my part. If you are unhappy with the results, you can always return to the old version, assuming you kept a backup as I recommended (and also noted that you should have backed up your style-generator generated styles before upgrading).

    If you have further questions or comments, kindly post them in the support forum, as requested. And please be respectful if you do so.

    can I use this under a slider on homepage

    sevenspark

    Hi Bruce,

    UberMenu replaces one of your existing menus by default. If you want to add a new menu, you can place it wherever you want using UberMenu Easy Integration, but that will require you to add a line of PHP code to your files.

    Hope that helps,

    could you please add in the css file of the online Manual http://wpmegamenu.com/help/#install-plugin

    the option to hide the sidebar.

    @media print { #body #wrap .navi-panel {display:none;} }

    then I can a printed manual version, tx.

    sevenspark

    Hi Helir,

    I’ve adjusted the guide to make it formatted better for print media, thanks for the suggestion.

    For your reference, this is the proper code:

    @media print {
        .wrap #nav-panel{
            display:none;
        }
    }

    I only point this out because I hope it might help you out with your customization styling as well: while your CSS seems pretty close, there are some details that make it incorrect. For example, ‘body’ is an element, not an ID (don’t place a # in front of it), ‘wrap’ is a class, not an ID (it should be .wrap, not #wrap), and ‘nav-panel’ is an ID, not a class (it should be #nav-panel, not .nav-panel), and it’s nav-panel, not navi-panel. It seems your CSS is very close, but as the details are off, the code won’t work. Perhaps it is this type of issue that is creating some frustration for you when using Firebug to customize UberMenu? Just something to keep in mind; perhaps paying extra attention to these details might make things easier for you :)

    Hope that helps!

    i WANT this plugin now :D but…. why is there always a ‘but’... hmm… Okay here’s what I wanted to ask. I don’t know anything about css and html, I’m also a programmer but in c++, c#.. so understanding code is nothing new to me so I wanted to ask you could I get examples of e.g. your menu when I buy this plugin? Cause it would take a while until I figure out how to set it up. Ty. Regards, Davor

    sevenspark

    Hi Davor,

    Thanks for your interest in UberMenu :)

    I’m not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking. UberMenu comes with 20+ pre-made styles (including all the menu presets that you can try out in the demo), as well as a GUI -based style generator for creating variations on those styles; so the only reason you’d need to write any code is if you want to make advanced customizations, or if your WordPress theme isn’t coded properly.

    It’s also very easy to set up, you just install it like a normal WordPress plugin and activate the appropriate menu location in your theme. Feel free to review the installation instructions for full details.

    Hope that answers your question! :)
