Hello, I’m a big fan of Special Recent Posts, but have encountered a pretty noticeable glitch of some sort. Like diegobwd reported about a month ago, SRP shows the correct link and post title, but the thumbnail image is completely different from the featured image. In fact, the thumbnail image seems to be completely random for some posts, yet on other posts, the correct image is shown.

Per your suggestion, I tried emptying the cache folder and this appears to have correct some of the thumbnail images, but not all of them. I don’t have the option of disabling all my other Wordpress plugins because it’s a popular site and disabling some of the other plugins would break core functionality.

Is this something that might be fixed in the upcoming SRP update?

Hi Steve, thanx for reporting this. I’m aware that some users experienced this kind of issue but unfortunally i was unable to reproduce it.

Considering that SRP doesn’t absolutely write anything in the database but its own option values, the solution could be found right in the database.

The plugin does a custom WP loop and for each posts it tries to extract the featured image. If non found, then it scans for inner content ones. Of course, the association between a post and its featured image is stored by WP in the database. So maybe, this is what is compromised.

The fact that you emptied the cache folder and some posts recovered, suggests that when SRP re-did the loop, something in the DB has backed up well.

At the moment, i need more infos to reproduce this issue and find a fix.

Consider that next version will have its own engine completely rewritten plus tons of bug fixes and new features. These should fix this one too.

Well, I liked everything I saw about the plugin, so I bought it… then ooops, somehow I did not notice that it was not currently responsive. (I thought everything was responsive nowadays). Anyhow, I see you reference an upcoming upgrade (WITH basic responsive design). When do you think this will drop?

While I like the plugin, I really can’t even use it until it has such a basic function.

Thanks for your work in an otherwise terrific plugin.

Thanx. It’s a matter of days. A week at least.
