Hi there, I was wondering how is the spam prevention with this forum? I’ve had a lot of bad luck with other forum systems and spam.

I was also wondering if this forum script supports friendly urls / mod_rewrite urls?

Thanks in advance!

hi thesilkywitch,

thx for your interest

These are some of the features:

  • enable captcha on registration
  • disable registering (no users, no spam :) )
  • enable activation of new users only by board administratiors
  • watch all forums as administrator
  • Activate SEO links in the board administration to get friendly URLs

I hope I could help

Thanks for the quick reply.

Are there any updates coming soon? It says you last updated the script in March of last year.

Hey Mac,

How would I go about dynamically changing the meta description for each topic? All of the pages on the forum have the same description for pages that are index in Google.

Thanks, Chris

hi chris,

you could use something like

he(substr(strip_tags(strip_bbcodes($SBBTopics->posts["main"]->detail)),0,155)) . "..."

Thanks Mac. I was able to use this code and incorporate it into my site the way I wanted.

One more thing and I’ll stop bothering you. How can I remove line breaks from the output? If someone puts a few characters of text in a post then went to a new line and posted a few more than on to a new line… etc. How can I remove those blank spaces when outputting the data from the sql database? I have attempted using replace, str_replace CHR10 , CHR13 and everything else I can find, but nothing seems to remove the big gaps from the text output.

I hope you understand what I’m asking. I appreciate your support. It means a lot to me. Thanks again.

Hi Mac,

How to use this Board without a Website? I want only create a simple forum. Just in standalone.

In full page. I have a hosting and a domain name. And where is the file: plain.php?

In short on this point I’m in jam.

Thanks for your answer.

Best Regards, Dafcans
